  1. Me, my Wife and our two daughters recently took a cruise with all 4 of us in one room with a balcony and it was just fine. It is tight quarters and there is only one bath, but we enjoyed it. If we had someone in our group that needed lots of space that would have been a problem and we all agreed we'd do it again versus getting two cabins. The morning is the worst when beds are out and there is little room to walk around in the room and nap time is crowded.:)

Enjoy! I hope you like it as much as we did.

  2. Agree with both posts, but I caution you that the swells can be large. I am a good swimmer but decided I wanted to float more and blew air in the vest. The Palancar reef is deep so diving down will be difficult. It was for me anyway. You can put any amount of air you want based on weather and your swimming abilities. Go for it!!

  3. We did beach days at both ports and prefer Costa Maya as it is more laid back. The vendors are a little annoying but a "no gracias" pretty much turns them away. The beaches at Coz were so busy and we did not like that. Not much shade and people are there to get drunk it seems. We went to Playa Mia at Coz and the Tropicante at Costa Maya.

  4. Sorry to be ignorant but I'm new to Princess and what ship is the CB?

    Caribbean Princess.

We were on the 1-10 sailing this year and it was great. The crew was fantastic and the food was excellent. I have nothing bad to say about this ship or sailing!! You will have a great time.

  5. I've heard good things about both. We went to Tropicante two weeks ago and in my opinion the owner Steve is worth going there. He is a great guy and spends most of his day talking to people on his stretch of the beach. We did the $20 massages for my family and it was heaven. I might try Blue Kay if snorkeling was important. There wasn't much to see off the beach at Tropicante with all the boat traffic but I read that Blue Kay is better.

  6. We just came back from a cruise aboard the CB out of houston and there are ways to keep your booze costs relatively cheap. We brought on one bottle of wine each of us for no cost, attended the daily happy hours from 3-4 in Club Fusion and got buy one get one for $1 - basically $5 per drink, then we purchased some bourbon 375's through room service so we could pour a drink in our own room and that keeps the price per drink low. Doing it this way kept us way under the total for AIBP for both of us and we drank as much as we wanted. We did purchase 3 bottles of wine in the dining room and I got a few specialty shots in the MDR as well.

  7. We were on the Caribbean Princess last week and did the Columbia and Palancar reefs excursion with a catamaran and it included food and a beach break at Playa Mia. The snorkeling was excellent. Saw lots of coral, fish, a barracuda or two, a sea turtle and a ocean sunfish. The trip was great but it is not easy. We had heavy winds and the current is fast so be prepared to work. It's worth the effort. We all agreed the Columbia reef was the best for snorkeling. Also did Sergeant's Caye at Belize, which was more personal service but the boat and beach break were not as good.

  8. You are welcome. We just got back from Tropicante and it was a great place to call home for a day. No charge for chairs, just need to buy a few things from them. We ended up getting massages and food and drink. Steve Uhl, the owner said they would take us out snorkeling at a reef for $25 per person and that is not a cattle type snorkeling. I might opt for that next time I'm there. I think it's pretty safe but if you can find someone on your role call to go with that would be recommended.

  9. I have this idea of giving my kids and DW some money - $20 and having a small family slot tournament for fun. Has anyone done anything like this? I want to make sure that we somewhat share the winnings and so we are cheering for each other - if that makes sense versus winner take all. Any ideas would be appreciated. We sail on 1-10 on the Caribbean Princess. I was thinking of one rule that each person has to run through the $20 at least once and can stop anytime after that and was thinking of pooling all the winnings and splitting it up 40%, 30%, 20% and 10%, but if everyone wins then that would be bad for the 10% person. Or maybe the winner gets all their money and the other 3 split the remainder in thirds???
