Great! Perfectly readable, although still blue background. No sense wasting your precious cruise time to figure out blue background. We can read the PDF without any problems. Thank you for sharing the Viking Dailys. Enjoy!

    UH OH… reported on FB:

Four people have been taken off Viking Venus in Malta due to positive testing. Two because someone has tested positive at least twice and has cold symptoms and the two people they were traveling with. Being quarantined in a Malta hotel for 14 days and not getting much help in the situation.

Here is a real photo of the Octantis sailing between two other Viking ships. She’s the one with the straight ‘Plumb’ Bow.

Where and when was this taken? What ships are on either side of Octantis?

    You're welcome.

I should add that I was interviewed (via telephone) by both the nurse and the public health officer, who wanted to know where I'd been during the last 48 hours---excursions, restaurants, and so forth. But to this day I have no idea who the positive-person was, where I was in contact with him/her, or why my husband was not.

Maybe it was the gelato line.

Where did you read that antigen is not allowed?  Currently

Where did you read that Iceland requires a PCR test?  I saw an article linked below in another cruise critic topic that says antigen or PCR, but would prefer to see something more official.

    https://www.icelandreview.com/politics/covid-19-in-iceland-all-travellers-required-to-present-negative-test-before-boarding/

NOW the Rapid Antigen Test is also listed as an acceptable Covid Test as of July 26th.

    https://www.covid.is/sub-categories/vaccination-and-antibodies

"FROM JULY 26TH: All passengers with vaccination against COVID-19 or proof of prior COVID-19 infection need to present anegative PCR test certificate against COVID-19. Rapid antigen tests are also valid. The test must have been taken within 72 hours before departure on the first leg of the journey."

We used the Abbott home test, bought directly from them for about $45.  Very easy,  you call in when ready to take the test,  about 45 minutes total and have the results emailed to you.  We used it for our return to US JFK tomorrow.  I believe it is the only home test excepted by CDC for this use.

I thought Iceland requires a PCR Test, not an antigen test.

The contacted it in the airport, on the plane, during their own pre cruise stay...and then it took a few days to show up in testing.  I am sitting in JFK where an announcement keeps playing about wearing your mask.  And yet I see two VIKING travelers sitting with NO masks on.  Unless they stole the Viking red luggage tags.

Take a picture of them for future reference so you can avoid them.

BIG HEADS UP: if you are not heading from ship to airport, make sure you check the date on your test results as soon as they arrive in your cabin.  Ours were dated for THURSDAY  and not FRIDAY.

My bad.  I did not look at the test date.  We are sitting at the airport fortunate  to have gotten our boarding passes and I am about to call the ship.

    That's horrible. From dailies, Viking Sky Iceland phone: +1 323 870 4740

Off the  Constellation June 14-24, 2021 Alaskan Cruise.

Safe in bottom draw of desk.

Bath: nice layout with vanity.  Cabinet under sink contained extra tissues, soap, shampoo, etc.  Also 2 drawers for storage with a Hair Dryer. 2 small shelves in shower.

NO INTERNET or TV.  Ship does not have satellite connection.  Only had some internet connections when in port.

Food  Below par with any other cruise line.  (this was cruise 39.  We have been on a 78 passagener sailing ship for 4 cruises.Small ships with less than 100 passengers can have wonderful food. Almost no veggies lunch and dinner were meat and potatoes. Last night dinner , 2 round pieces of (New York Strip STEAK????) with large baked potato and 2 pieces of fresh steamed Asparagus. Another night I got the beef tips??? in peppercorn sauce with about 1 1/2 c cubed potatoes and 2 small pieces of carrot. Salad every night, the same mixed greens with 3 halves of graph tomato.

First night I ordered Grilled Halibut. tough, cold and tasteless. Remained me of a frozen microwave fish dish.

Alternated Entree was HAMBURGER, no chicken breast.

Ran out of Vanilla, chocolate ice cream on day 3.  Then ran out of butterpecan, strawberry and coffee ice cream.

I took pictures of the Salmon and Shrimp being served.  On our Alaskan cruise, ACL served Alantic Farm-raised Salmon and Farm-raised Shrimp. Seems like ACL could have purchased Alaskan Salmon.

The wait staff and housekeeping staff were very good and tried to please.  I cannot fault the wait and housekeeping staff and very hard working.

2 special extra cost excursion not do take place because no one arranged transportation from ship to tour locations. One was a raft trip out of Haines and the other was an E Bike and hiking in another location. These were offered through the ship.

I enjoyed the walks in the towns with local guides, expecially the Petersburg Commerical Fishing Dock tour. Guide was a retiree (30 years in Peterburg) US Fisheries Manager for the area.

I am traveling with 3 friends so would not need help getting on/off ship.  I would have an issue standing in line at airport for multiple hours.  Viking has an area to sign for assistance thus I signed up.  Whatever will be will be.  I have been renting a scooter for Royal Caribbean the past few years.  New to Viking so haven't a clue to their policies.

We are tendering this morning in Djupivogur.  Our cabin is right over the tender. Man, is that noisy!

We are off to the glacier lagoon this morning. Woo-hoo!

It rained overnight. But this morning it is that strange combination of fog and sunshine that we have been getting all week.

What 3rd floor rooms are above the tender? Thank you in advance!
