Hi....which night is the first formal night for the Explorer of the Seas from Seattle?
Thanks!

Cellular is off when in airplane mode.
Will I be able to use the internet then?
-
OK.....so put it in Airplane mode, turn on Wifi, and then what about my "cellular" settings?
-
Me no. Father yes. I have nothing but respect for the marine corps and marine corps families.
The term fun was obviously meant in jest by the way.
I know...and thanks! We have been a bit more nervous, because a Recruit in bootcamp died a few weeks ago from Pneumonia :(:(:(
-
Thanks! It was already in WiFi calling mode. I must have been messing with it when I was having trouble recently.
On the ship, can I leave it in airplane mode, and still use Internet?
-
You are good to go with WiFi calling.
54 hours of marine corps fun. A great accomplishment.
Semper Fi
Are you a Marine? :):)

Then you are good to go, just make sure you have set it up at home. You need to put in an emergency address for the 911 system. I have put my home address in as the default.
Can you explain in layman's terms, I'm not that savvy with this ;p;p

The wifi package would be purchased through the cruise line. A cellular package can be purchased from some cellular carriers.
I would buy a Voom wifi package from the cruise line. I would verify that my phone supports wifi calling before buying the package. If your phone and carrier support wifi calling, set it up before you leave home and test it on your home wifi. Once you get on the ship, put your phone on airplane mode and then turn on wifi. Connect to the ships wifi and you will be able to make and receive calls over wifi.
My phone has the WiFi calling option.

Definitely not all carriers have packages for use at sea, Verizon definitely does not. Verizon only has pay as you go rates for calls and texts. They no longer support data while at sea.
We have T-Mobile. I thought the package would be through the cruiseline, and not the carrier?

My son is in Marine Bootcamp and will be doing The Crucible while we are on our cruise, I am nervous to say the least.
If he gets injured, I want to know if his Drill Instructor can call me directly on my phone? Thanks!

How is Maho beach, seperate from the planes landing? I do need shade, are there any umbrellas to rent and also restrooms?
Is there a certain landmark/place that is the best here, for getting drinks, umbrellas, etc?
-
People watching beach to me = Orient and Maho as well because it's fun watching newbies see the planes land.
Little Bay is not a people watching beach and Great Bay is not a swimming beach to me.
If the planes do not interest you then Orient is my suggestion.
If it was just my husband and I, I would choose Orient, but since my son is coming, I really don't want the awkwardness of topless women, my husband agreed....LOL.
Does Great Bay have any oil or gross stuff in the water from the cruise ships?
-
We were planning on going to Great Bay Beach until I read about the pollution??!! Is this truly an issue? If so, is Little Bay quiet? LOL We like music and to people watch etc
It will be myself, my husband and our 18 yr old son.....thanks!

We were originally just going to stay near the Miami airport, but then I read that the area was not so great. Is there any other areas that are a little ways away from the airport that are better?
-
Our flight is at 7:00 AM, so hopefully there wont be too much traffic at 4:30 AM :)
-
Thanks..... cruise is next month. Don't care about the beach, mostly just safe and places close by to eat. Don't want to spend more than about $150. Might need do Hotwire.
Miami airport is an hour away? I thought it was closer than that?

Hi… We are flying into and taking a cruise out of Fort Lauderdale. Flights home were very expensive so we are staying an extra day, we are flying out of Miami early in the morning. Looking for a reasonable hotel for myself, husband and 18 yr old son......but somewhere that is still decent to be able to walk around to find a casual place for dinner and people watch etc....
How is the Coral Gables area? Any other suggestions are appreciated.....thanks ❤

UGH
Her mother and I will be sitting on the edge, not in the jacuzzi.
Yes, she is fully potty trained. She was cloth diapered and cloth diapered babies train faster. Her parents have also taught her sign language, so she is able to tell them when she needs to go. She only wears a diaper at night, but the rest of the time, she is fully trained and only wears regular underwear.

Thanks all.....I appreciate the advice.
We are very conscious and would never do anything to bother anyone else.
As far as safety, like I said, she would just be dangling her feet or legs, with me sitting on one side and her pregnant mommy on the other. If others were in the jacuzzi, we probably wouldn't do it at all.

My Granddaughter is 18 months old and potty trained. Can she go into any pool?
Also, if we wanted to go to the jacuzzi, could she come and just put her legs in?
Thanks

Hi again. How well do phone calls work in an inside cabin? At least to hear it ring? I could step out if I needed to.
Thanks
