  1. Hi Neil, we too migrated to Oz as "10 pound poms" in 1970 when I was 10 but we flew out here. However, In July 1975 we went back to UK for a few months and sailed on a Chandris ship, SS Australis. The poor old girl's just about gone now. And yes, that is also why I'm so interested in ships. I bought a book about the Fairstar the other week & really enjoying it. There's one you can get about the Australis and I really want that one too. Have been putting it off coz it's about US$40 plus postage:eek: . But I think I'm gonna have to give in.

  2. I loved the tower of terror ride. Think that it scared the crap out of me so much I was laughing hysterically. Actually went on it 4 times. California screaming however, I didn't do, regret it now. I can cope with up/down motion but hate the rollercoaster feeling and upside down.

I love rollercoasters, could sit on one all day. I don't like the in/out motion (you know, swinging chairs?). My favourite ride at Disneyland was Space Mountain. It was FANTASTIC. Realy hope to do it again one day.

    Hi Jo

Just had a look at your wedding pics that you just added. They are beautiful. I particularly liked no.16 (the with you & your DH in the distance in the lush green vineyards). Loved the bride & groom on your cake:D

  4. I want to thank everyone who posted their Pacific Sun pictures. We sailed her about 5 years ago when she was the Jubilee out of Galveston, Texas. She really hasn't changed that much except for her Carnival "whale tail" smokestack and, of course, colors. It was so good to see her again and know everyone is enjoying her as much as we did years ago. Happy cruising!! :D TG23

Glad to hear we can bring back some memories for you TG23. It was this time last year that I sailed on hr & I love to look at all the photos people have taken since. Aaaahhhh.... the memories:cool:

If I knew how to do it I would put some of mine on as well. Sorry about that, it looks like I'll just have to enjoy everyone elses photos.

    Great idea Karen.

  7. Hi Luci

On our cruise I took Kwells & Phernergen with me. We have 3 children (10,11 & 15) and our youngest suffers from car sickness so I knew that if any of us were going to get sick it would be him. Half hour before we left I made all the kids take a Kwells (DH & I didn't take any but we had sailed before with no probs & I was more concerned about being confined to a cabin with a sick child rather than myself being sick). That was the only think they took until 2 days before returning home when we had a rough day. We gave our youngest a Kwells but it was too late as he was already feeling a bit queezy so I gave him some Phernergan. We had to take him to the docs (otherwise he wouldn't have been allowed back in kids club) but the doc cleared him & he was fine after that.

  8. Hey Cool,I did Southhampton-Sydney in 1971 on this ship... also I did a round-world on what I think was the sister-ship - the SS Australis?Tony

I also sailed on Australis in July '75 from Sydney to Southampton. 35 days of fun. I was 14 at the time and it was while on that trip that I made a promise to myself to cruise when I got older. Took me 11 years but I finally did it. It's so sad to see the pictures of her as she is now.

  9. Hi all, hope someone out there can help me. In previous years when a ship cruised through the Havannah-Boulari Passage it was noted on the itinerary. However, it never seems to be mentioned in itineraries anymore but is still featured in the P&O brochure. Do P&O ships still cruise through the pasage and if so where is the nearest port/island? Would love to sail through there.

  11. - a "pop-up" laundry basket comes in handy as a hamper and as transport to the laundry room and back, and in a pinch, can double as a beach carryall and/or shopping "bag." Don't know if they have 'em down under, but here in the States, you get them at the discount dept. stores. They're like those windshield thingees but with net sides and handles. When not in use, you bend them back into a flat circle.

I bought one of these specially for the cruise (not sure if it has handles though) cost me $5-00. Might even by another one yet. Don't even know what I'm going touse it for but thought it would come in handy for something. Dirty washing, shoes - who knows?

  12. This one gets a huige thumbs up from me... we didnt take any to divine and i ended up wearing my sandals in the water!

Then we bought them on board ($30) as the shop assistant said the other islands were the same and I didnt need them.... I think she tricked me...

Oh well I'll have them for next time.

    Cheers,

    Dan

    My post went missing again!!

They know how to rip you off don't they? I boght all 5 of us a pair for not much more than that. About $7-50 each. Got the kids ones in KMart & the bigger ones in Big W. If it hadn't been for these boards, I would never have even thought about them.
