  1. We are arriving at YVR at 10:00 PM and will be staying at the Pan Pacific at Canada Place.  There will be 5 of us and LOTS of luggage :).  Are there larger taxis available at the airport, or should we just book a limo?  We're not opposed to the skytrain, but I am concerned about safety that late at night as well as logistics considering we will have quite a bit of luggage.

  2. I have searched but can't find any recent examples of menus in the Millennium main dining room for an Alaskan cruise.  Has anyone seen that posted, or do  you have a link to it?  My inlaws are coming with us this summer, and they are a bit picky when it comes to food.  They asked last night if I had seen any menus, and I promised to try to find some...

We sailed on Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas last summer, and I had no problem finding images of each night's menu in the main dining room, but no such luck with Millennium yet...

  3. Hi all!

We are cruising on Celebrity Millennium in July, northbound, and would like to book a salmon fishing excursion, preferably out of Juneau (that seems to fit our schedule the best).  Can anyone recommend a great company to work with?  Are all salmon fishing excursions trolling?  One of my sons really wants to know...

    Thanks in advance!

  5. We are sailing to Alaska on Millennium in July, and my 22 year old son is excited to "finally" get to purchase a drink package.  My question is:  Is the 10% off that they are offering on this sale the best we can expect, or should I hold out for a better offer?  Maybe Memorial Day?  BTW - we are looking at both the premium and the classic packages (premium for me :))

  6. Thank you everyone for those great suggestions!  For a float plane experience, it sounds like Ketchikan is the best option.  That leads me to another question...  is it possible, from your experience, to combine the misty fjords float plane trip with the lumberjack show in Ketchikan?  My elderly inlaws will be on the cruise also, and they are looking forward to the show.  We thought that would be a way for us to do something with them, since they won't be doing the plane excursion.

  7. We will be cruising Alaska in July on board Celebrity Millennium.  It is our son's high school graduation trip, the last hoorah with the family before he starts college.  As he will be studying to become a commercial pilot and already has his private pilot's license, his first choice for excursions on the trip is to fly in a float plane.  (He doesn't want to actually fly the plane, but would like to experience those take offs and landings, in addition to all of the beautiful scenery).  We will be stopping at Ketchikan, Icy Strait Point, Juneau, and Skagway.  Can anyone recommend a float plane excursion in any of these ports?  We may have something already booked in Ketchikan, so that would be our last choice - unless it's such a great excursion that we would be dumb to miss it!  Thanks in advance!!!

  8. We will be sailing on Oasis in less than two weeks! Yay! Does anyone know if we can take advantage of the Next Cruise offers onboard if we book a Celebrity Cruise? We are looking to sail on a Celebrity Alaskan itinerary next summer and would love to take advantage of any deals they offer onboard our Oasis cruise! Would we be better just dealing with our TA independently of the Next Cruise desk? Am I correct in my understanding that RC and Celebrity are under one umbrella? Thanks in advance for your help/advice!

  9. We have used this service in the past, but our experience was that whatever method they use to wash and dry the laundry was really harsh. Some of our tee shirts and underwear came back to us with multiple small holes in them. I won't use the ship's laundry service again, because we ended up having to replace a lot of items when we got home. But maybe they've improved their process in the past couple of years... it would definitely be nice to not have to bring so much with us!

  10. This is a matter of showing respect for your fellow diners. By dressing “appropriately”, you are letting others know that they matter enough for you to make the effort. Too many people are so self-centered today that they can’t do something as simple as dressing decently for a public meal. That speaks volumes about that person and not the folks they are dining around.

  11. Nothing will happen if you leave it "on paper" that you're in separate rooms. We went to guest services, and they gave us two "keys" that worked for the rooms for the people that were switching. So I had a seapass card and a key, as did one of my children. And our seapass cards also worked to open the other room.

Thanks for that reply. I just want to make sure I understand. We will each have our seapass cards, and the two passengers who switch cabins will also have a key to the cabin they're not assigned to? Can both of us parents get access to both cabins? Is there no way for them to just allow access on our seapass cards rather than to have to keep up with a key as well (I'm mostly worried about my 14 year old losing his key - repeatedly!)

  12. OK, so I have a question related to this. We have two cabins booked, with my DH in one with one of our teenagers, and I am in the other with our other teenager. Our travel agent said it's totally fine to switch cabins once onboard, so that my husband and I are in the same room. With all of our excursions, drink packages, etc, will this get messed up at that point? How can we move the guys around so that everyone's in the correct cabins without messing up all of our reservations? Do these issues only arise when rebooking to save money pre-cruise, or will we run into this same problem if we switch once onboard?

  13. We are cruising in June on Oasis, and we just decided to eat 2 or 3 dinners at the premium restaurants onboard. I can see in my cruise planner that the ultimate dining package is advertised as a discount, but I haven't seen the 3 night package discounted. I was hoping that with the current sale they would have marked it down even a little bit. Has anyone seen dining included in their online sales, or should we just plan to pay what we see listed currently?

  14. I have teenage boys, one of whom wants to fly commercially. We have been to Sunset Bar on a previous cruise to watch the planes and the people on the beach. It was a blast! We are going to St. Maarten again this summer, and the boys have asked that we do the same thing we did last time. We're going to catch a cab from the port to Sunset Bar, sit there all day and eat and watch the planes. I asked them if they would prefer to do that excursion you mentioned, but they both agreed that they liked the bar better (it's really open with umbrellas and doesn't feel like a bar as much as a casual restaurant) - plus it will save us loads of money compared to the cost of the excursion!

We looked at a recent list of plane arrivals, and it looks like the big jets don't start landing until after 1:00 or so. We didn't look at the departure schedule for that same day, though. Take that into consideration as you're planning the excursion, since the whole point is to experience those big planes landing and taking off! Have fun!

  15. We are going to be in Nassau on Oasis and looked into the swimming with the pigs option. Unfortuately, the day in Nassau is so short that the full day excursion wouldn't get us back to the ship in time for departure. I would double and triple check with the cruise's schedule and the excursion provider that they can guarantee your arrival back at the ship in time to depart!

  16. My 17 year old son has requested that we go deep sea fishing while in Nassau during our Oasis cruise in June. I only see one option in the excursion list - First Strike Deep Sea Fishing. Has anyone done this excursion? What did you think? How many people were on the boat? Any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated, as this is a very expensive excursion, and I would hate to waste that money!

  17. Hi everyone! We will be sailing on Oasis out of Port Canaveral this June, and I need some advice about the logistics on embarkation day. I have read conflicting reports about congestion at the Port - some say it's a breeze, with no traffic, and others write about miles-long traffic jams. We are staying the night before at the Residence Inn that is very close to the port and driving over that morning to park in the covered garage right at our terminal (I think it's Terminal 1). My ultimate goals for the arrival are: 1) Arrive in time to get a covered parking spot in the garage (not have to park on the top level where the car will bake in the Florida sun all week); 2) Miss the worst of the embarkation and debarkation traffic: 3) Get our teenage boys on board the ship with enough time that they can do the zip line before everyone else thinks of it (I've read that embarkation day is a good day to do this to avoid lines).

For those of you who have done this, what do you think? What are our best options? Thank you in advance for all your help!!!
