  1. Subscribed. Getting ready to book same thing for May 2020 but doing Royal cruisetour 1B. I didn't want to go DIY first time to Alaska.

Same issues with fights, will probably take Southwest nonstop to SEA and spend the night then use Alaska to Anchorage and back from Vancouver.

I hope you keep up this thread with your adventure it would help us out a lot.

This stuff is pricey though [emoji50]

  2. I highly recommend Chef's table on Majesty we did it twice. Nice small groups of 10. Especially since their isn't any other upscale dining.

I didn't mind the small ship. The only thing we really noticed not having was a solarium. From the Viking crown forward, it's a lot like any other ship. Chop out the solarium and the stack is just behind the Viking crown that's about the difference.

The theater is nice, similar to the other bigger ships.

  3. I think they just file them just like we do in case of audit.

We just got back, and really you can do whatever you want when you get there.

We complied with one of their approved tours per day and did what we wanted the rest of the time.

Had all the same concerns as everyone else before the trip, which turned out to be a nothingburger.

Let's hope today's announcement doesn't kill it all.

  4. All BS. None of that is true. Ok technically maybe it is but in reality it is not. As of before today's announcements.

Trump did just add some restrictions for family sending money to Cuba. And seems to be some vague unspecified travel restrictions.

Hopefully this does not affect the cruises!

Wow glad we just got back from there.

  5. cash is king... as princeton said there really aren't people or children hanging around to receive your trinkets.  And the ship may tell you that if you bring large quantities of stuff - like a whole roller board full of trinkets - they may force you to take it back on the ship.  They do security leaving the ship (until they get tired of it then they stop) so they are looking at what you bring off the ship.

so we decided not to, rather we tipped nicely for good service and tried to support the local economy by buying some souvenirs and eating in some paladars

  6. I was just on RCL so can't say what carnival does, but the ship often arrives early and they let the private excursions off first since we were ahead of schedule. And as stated, getting off and through the currency exchange really didn't take too long.

  7. What time did is a good time to leave the ship to get to Tropicana?  Were you able to get a car & driver or taxi right out side of the terminal?

Show is 9:30 and it’s about a 30 minute cab ride.

So leave the ship 7:30 or 8 you have tons of time

Cabs are right outside the cruise terminal at the bottom of the stairs
  8. I read somewhere that Tropicana's CC processing is in Spain and therefore can accept US cards.
You know what you read on the internet must be true.  [emoji846]
I'm the one who posted that and it is true did uses a payment provider in Spain which may trigger some fraud alerts on your card that you can work out with the bank but in the end it will go through
  9. I am so glad I have no problems with the ships water. thats crazy
Yeah we still bring a Britta filter pitcher but find we don't ever really need it, ship's water is fine. I just bring a couple empty water bottles and fill them from the pitcher. Cost $0

  10. How did you get back to the ship after the show? Was your driver that dropped you off waiting for you?
Yes he was. He was right outside and took us to where he had the car parked.

The guy that takes you will likely ask you if he can bring you back. We said yes and he was there.

If he doesn't show, plenty of cabs around although it might be a bit of a wait.
  11. Are convertible long pants ok?  I know it's a cheeky question but we will be coming back from a long day tour with no time to go back to the ship to change and it would make it easier for hubby.

If not allowed I will just tell him to pack an extra pair of long pants in his backpack.  He will pout though.
I would say probably ok. It's dark by then [emoji41]. I think those and a polo shirt would be ok.

  12. I always hire from Thrifty/Budget when in FLL, right at the port gates
So if we drop the car there on the morning of the cruise, do they offer the shuttle free down to the port? I guess there will be a lot of people waiting for this!
The last time I returned a car and wanted to get back to my hotel, I had to walk to the hotel diagonally across the traffic lights, to get a Wi-fi signal to book an Uber!
Yes Avis/Budget has a shuttle from their port Everglades (ev3 I think) location to the cruise port. Alamo's shuttle seemed to run a lot more frequently but they do have one and it eventually came. I think they say every 20 minutes.
