Hello there. Trying to decide between two cruises this November out of Miami.
the difference being between a cruise with Grand Turk over one with Amber Cove.
i have read on many forums that Amber Cove is a port that many people just stay on the ship. It has just a fancy pool and not much more desirable.
Between these two ports, which one has better beaches and perhaps more to explore? For me and my girlfriend. Both in our fourties’.
thanks for any tips

We were on a cruise in December that stopped at both. If you want the better beach, its Grand Turk, no question. Its *right* off the pier and is a great beach. The water wasn't very blue or clear but the sand was smooth and the water was so easy to walk in/out and around in. Chairs were plentiful. There's also a neat NASA exhibit, a pool, and some stores right there.
Amber Cove is sort of an artificially created/private area. We walked around a little but did a shore excursion of horseback riding along the beach (which was a lot of fun). I didn't actually see the pool there so can't comment on it, but I've heard that any beach requires a shore excursion or private transportation.
Thanks for this valuable info 👍🏽

According to Carnival's FAQ: A $15 USD corkage fee, per 750 ml bottle, will be charged should guests wish to consume their wine or champagne in the main dining room, specialty restaurant or bar.
A corkage fee is a charge assessed at time of service at a restaurant for every bottle served that is not bought on the premises.
That leads me to believe if you buy a bottle at the dining room, you're not charged the fee.
Here's a wine menu from the Magic in June 2018; includes bottle and glass prices.
You are awesome! Thank you sooo much!

is there a corkage fee if you buy a bottle from their ship? And what is the costs of bottles from carnival? And under curousity how much is a simple glass of white in the main dining room? Thanks

hi there, my girlfriend and myself are not big drinkers so we would like to bring a bottle of wine on the ship with us. If one of us brings a bottle of wine, does that exclude one of us to also bring a 12 pack of canned soda? And what are the fees or charges we need to pay when bringing the bottle onboard and to dinner about three times? Thanks.

Thanks everyone!

curious to know which internet package I would need to purchase to watch Netflix from my carnival interior room on our Journey cruise next month on the Breeze? Or is any internet package even fast enough to steam Netflix? Thanks
-
We brought more soda on in Curaco on one of our cruises.
I feel the Capucina Italian restaurant is worth it for the better dishes, sit down service and atmosphere, but everybody has different expectations. You may not feel it is after you try it. Just try it and then you will know for yourself.
As far as taking pizza slices, muffins or sandwiches, they might be messy to pack. We always take cereal boxes as snacks. Easy to fit in your bag and easy to eat. Some countries do not allow bananas and fruit onto their island, so stick to packaged products. I also bring bags of peanuts from home as a snack for excursions and late at night (not a pizza eater).
Thanks for the tips!

hi there! Does anyone know what nights are “formal night”? Can I bring onboard more can pop/soda from one of our ports? Of our ports can anyone recommend an ATV rental company near port where we can rent it per hour to do our own thing? Is the Capucina Italian restaurant worth the $15 upcharge? To save money and time looking for food are we allowed to bring a few snacks from ship (pizza slices, muffins, sandwiches etc..) during our excursions? Thanks.

depending on how big your suitcase is, you might need to lift up the bed a little bit then slide the suitcase under the bed. sometimes the bed railings can get in the way.
Thanks for the tip!
-
Under the bed: Yes. Closet: Yes for carry on. We've fit three suitcases under the bed before.
Thanks. Does the luggage fit under the bed from the side or the base?
-
Hi there. Does the luggage fit under the bed from the base of the bed or also from the side? And do any of the closets big enough to fit a large carry on luggage? Thanks.

Thanks everyone! I will look for it at lunch time and not expect the greatest quality either. Lol.

Is the chocolate buffet a thing of the past? I have been on two 7 day cruises on the Vista already and have not seen it or perhaps I missed it. Doing a Journey Cruise soon on the Breeze and I hope to see it. Thanks.

con: 2 weeks of vacation time
pro: everything else
Perfectly said 😉

Thanks everyone for your opinions so far. Perhaps I will see a few of you in a Journey Cruise soon. Cheers!

hi there, I have been on a few 7 and 5 day Carnival Cruises. Can anyone share (non-obvious) pros and cons on taking a Carnival Journey 14 day cruise? Or any tips on taking a longer cruise? Thanks for your time. Cheers!

Saint Greg is currently on the Dream and just posted a picture of the TV lineup. I’ve never posted a link to another post but I’ll try.

i have read that network channels are gone from tv channel lineups in rooms. Can anyone confirm which channels are available or perhaps share a photo of the tv channel guide? Thanks

Thanks for the info everyone. I forgot that in the USA it’s called “soda”, here in Canada it’s called “pop”. Cheers!

hi there. Doing a 14 day Journey cruise soon. I know we are allowed a case of 12 can pop per person on embarkation day. During the cruise, preferably at the halfway point, can we bring another 12 pack of can pop onto ship? Thanks.

I can't speak about Port Canaveral specifically because the last time I cruised from there I didn't need to use the services of Special Needs, but I can give you an overview for any port.
The Uber will drop you at the same place that everyone gets dropped off. Porters will take your luggage at the drop spot. Then you go to the entrance and someone just inside the door will direct you to the Special Needs line or call someone over to assist you if necessary.
It's very easy. I can't remember if I have to get off my scooter to go through security (I do at the airport) but it is not a stressful experience at all. If the person needing Special Assist is in a manual wheelchair, someone will be assigned to push it up the ramp and onto the ship for you.

Thanks for the info and help!

hello there, can anyone pass on info today to where to set Uber drop off spot for those with mobility issues? And is the special needs lineup just beside the lineups for what I guess are the two ther lineups (regular and fttf/Platinum lines)? Thanks.
Advice please.. Grand Turk vs Amber Cove
