  1. On the Liberty now. Have eaten lunch a few times in the MDR and breakfast once so far. There are buffets at both. At lunch they will toss a nice salad for you. There is also a table with fourbor five hot items. The lunch menu rotates. I prefer the MDR for lunch & haven't been to the Windjammer yet on this cruise for lunch.

At breakfast there is a buffet with eggs, bacon, french toast, fruit, cereals, et cetera. There is also a menu. The MDR is the only place you typically can get poached eggs and also tomato juice. I say "typically" because we had eggs benedict in Portofino for brunch.

For breakfast and lunch in the MDR you can partake from both the menu and the buffet.

Edit to add: You do not have to sit with others in the MDR at breakfast or lunch. When being seated, just ask for a table for the size of your party.

  2. I am right now on day 2 of our Liberty 9-night cruise. You know what I did today? I took a nap! When I told my husband that I can't remember the last time I took a nap, he said it was on our last cruise! Bored? No way, never!

We had a cold sail away yesterday, and it rained all this morning, but the sun is shining now! We arrive in Bermuda tomorrow.

Gotta go get ready for formal night & head to the Schooner Bar for trivia before dinner!

  3. We did it on the Liberty. We had an aft cabin deck 10. Asked room steward and he said Captain had ordered them all removed. He told us if we got our own he would not remove it until the end of the cruise. Its quite easy to carry with 2 people. Many strange looks but any crew we passed just smiled.

I am on Liberty now in corner aft 7408. There are three chairs and two ottomans, no loungers.

Maybe it is just me.....but if I got an email that said my credit card (it doesn't matter what the issuing company is) was part of some compromise and it wasn't going to be deactivated for TWO weeks, I would first wonder about the truth of the compromise and IMMEDIATELY call the bank who has issued the card.

I would not wait an hour or a day. Worrying about the excursions for two or more weeks from now, is not the issue ---DID THIS REALLY HAPPEN, would be my first thought and then how to get a new card within days, not weeks.

My card itself had no unauthorized transactions on it. My card was simply used at a vendor whose records have been compromised. I was slightly suspicious and did not call the number within the email. Instead I called the number on the back of my card. Also, as another poster stated, there was a message on my account that popped up when I signed into it online. Since there was no direct compromise with my card that included unauthorized activity, they were not deactivating my card until I received the new one, for which I am grateful.

  5. We received one as well. There was also a notice that popped up in my online banking account when I logged in to check my balances. No need to worry, the only piece of your credit card number on file with your reservation is the last four digits. They need to swipe a card at check-in to activate your onboard spending account, so as long as you get the new card before the 4th, you're good to go. If not, you can use a different card if you have one.

But I can't use a different card...I need my double cruise points!! :p

  6. Call them and tell them you need a card overnighted. They will do this at no charge.

Thank you for suggesting this! I just called them, and they are in fact overnighting new cards to me. Also, I took the opportunity during the call to advise what countries I would be visiting so that there would be no red flags when I use the card on the June 4th cruise.

  7. I received an email today at 5:24 a.m. informing me that my RCCL BofA Visa was part of compromise. They say a new card with new numbers will arrive in five to seven business days and that my current card will be deactivated on June 6th.

We leave on June 4th for a nine-night cruise. My sea passes are printed, and of course they are all tied to this credit card. We have a private excursion in St. Maarten on June 8th with a deposit tied to this credit card.

Hopefully, as indicated, I get the new card before we leave so that I can activate it and then print new sea passes.

What timing! Has anyone else received this email?

  8. First did you book thru RCCL? If so and you haven't made your final payment you can call them and mention the lower price and they will give it to you. If you went thru a TA call them and tell them to call and notify you if you did/didn't get the reduced rate.

Just to clarify, it doesn't matter if you've made your final payment, in other words, paid in full. What matters is if your final payment due date hasn't passed.

  9. I fully agree, and very well may receive tons of negative comments for saying this...HOWEVER! The whole dress code thing is just silly to me. Even sillier is the way some people take such personal offense to the way others dress.

I fully understand no swimsuits, no cover-ups, no bare feet, no cut offs, etc. But for wearing golf shorts and a golf shirt and be told you would be turned away because long pants are required??? In a tropical climate?? That would infuriate me.

You are hard pressed to find a restaurant on land that requires dress slacks for men...why are we expected to dress to the nines for a glorified Luby's? Nice jeans, nice golf shorts, even a nice v neck t shirt...they all look perfectly respectable on men (and women) if they are clean and neat.

And to be forced to eat at the Windjammer simply because you don't want to get dressed up to the nines for dinner...complete nonsense. I paid just as much for my vacation as you did...if not more...so those Sansabelt slacks don't make you any better than anyone else.

As for not packing long pants for a tropical vacation, even the Sandals resorts require long pants for some restaurants and they enforce it, it not like there is no a/c in restaurant.

Many all-inclusive resorts require men to wear long pants in restaurants. We were at an all inclusive in Punta Cana last July. Unless you were dining at the buffet, men were required to wear long pants to all other restaurants.
