    Hi @nini...

We stayed at Hotel Smeraldo for five nights in October 2023 in a Family Suite Town House which we booked again for 2025.  Admittedly its size is overkill for two people.  I've kinda' had it with tiny rooms...the Family Suite has two bedrooms (we use one for luggage, etc), two bathrooms (nice when getting ready to go), a kitchen with dining table, and a sofa.  It's like a small apartment.  There are plenty of other nice rooms on their website.

The hotel is right in the middle of the Roscioli empire, with Roscioli Caffè e Pasticceria, Roscioli Salumeria con Cucina, Rimessa Roscioli, and Antico Forno Roscioli very close by.  The Forno is right across the street...great for takeout when we want to dine in.  The hotel is a five to ten minute walk to Piazza dell Rotunda or Piazza Navona and closer to Piazza Campo de Fiori.

We did the Rimessa Roscioli Wine Tasting Dinner when we were last there.  If you enjoy wine...even a little bit...it's a do not miss experience.

Thank you Lew!  Just booked the wine tasting dinner! We like more than just a little bit.😊

Okay, okay, okay……NOW we have some tension in the hopeful household… “DH”……says the topic of desert cocktails being called “martini” speaks to the degradation of our society.  He says if it doesn’t make sense to put an olive in it, then it shouldn’t be called a martini!  Thems fighting words!  He says it must be a clear beverage with gin or vodka and vermouth (and the adornment of an olive) to earn the right to be called a martini!  I asked him that if that is the case, how will I order my creamy, flavorful after dinner cocktail at the martini bar (because he doesn’t believe they will serve anything but a “proper” martini there)…I said, “WHAT?” (Those were my exact words) and now…we may have to cancel our cruise (tic).  So the question is, can I get a chocolate martini at the martini bar.

The answer is most definitely YES!  They will even write your name in chocolate on the top.  Delicious!

  3. We went to Hato Caves last week on our Equinox trip.  It was very hot in the caves, so I would recommend grabbing a bottle of water before leaving the ship and dressing comfortably.  I was surprised we weren’t required to wear closed toe shoes but at the very least I would wear sandals with a strap and not flip flops.

We had a fabulous time on the Equinox doing the same itinerary as you will be doing.  Also, sailed in a balcony cabin after only sailing in the Retreat on E class ships post Covid.  Murano was a treat with amazing food and service.  Tuscan for the elite breakfast was a nice quiet alternative to the buffet, someplace we never went when we had access to Luminae.

  4. We haven't been on HAL in over 4 years and have never been on the NA. Looking at booking V6051, from the deck plans it seems to be in a good location with cabins above and below it. Anyone ever stayed in this cabin or anything in particular we should know about this cabin?

Thank you in advance for any help.

  5. You can't get a table for two?

On the Summit last month, we asked to be seated by ourselves and it was not a problem. We were 3 but I would think they would honor the request for two as well. When we ordered our main course they also asked for our dessert order.

It was a nice relaxing lunch.

  6. Hi!! This one is kinda a sticky question and I will try to answer each part.

We decided before the cruise that we wanted select dining. We are more night owls than morning people so the latest seating works out best for us. During our arrival, we had lunch in the MDR and there we asked for dinner reservations for 830. We got our reservations but we're told we needed to make them daily.

When we arrived at dinner, people who did not have reservations were being turned away.

We called our concierge and requested a standing 9:00 dinner reservation at the table we sat in during the first night. She said it would be no problem.

On Tuesday at dinner we told our servers that we will be unable to make the 9:00 reservations due to the tour and could we come around five. We reached out to the host and concierge and were given 5:30.

TBH, I think your best bet would be to go to lunch at the MDR and see if you can make reservations there for dinner. We ended up switching from traditional to select that first day.

    Good luck!!!!!

You are the second person to say that people without dinner reservations are being turned away. I am confused, I thought if you have select dining you do not have to have a reservation? I understand you may have to wait for a table but don't understand being turned away. We will be in the Summit at the end of the month and have select dining.

  7. I tried Rent the Runway for the first time last month and absolutely loved the service and the dress. Can't wait to order something from them again. I would definitely recommend it. Dh and I still like getting dressed up for formal night, I am going to check out the unlimited subscription.
