It was raining when I woke up this morning. [so no sunrise pics] However, we moved past that area and its now sunny and warm. I think this will be our last really warm day. I noticed that our hometown of Louisa, VA [about 20 miles east of Charlottesville, VA] had a high of 47 yesterday and a low last night of 34. Brrr!
it really is a small world, my aunt lives in louisa va

Happy Cruising, Scott and I are with you in spirit

I dislike when people using wheelchairs or walkers are not allowed to get on the elevator first, sometimes I wonder where common courtesy is. It takes so little effort to be kind.

Is this strict? Enforced?
Please enjoy your cruise, if a table with chair is what your wife needs to be comfortable, use one for your purposes...there are also seating available on decks 5 and 6 as well as the Viking lounge on deck 11....if you are occupying a table and feel someone else may need it more than yourself, you could always move the chairs you are using away from the table and sit by the window overlooking the ocean...again, please enjoy your cruise :D

I leave mine home, 2 reasons...1) gives me a reason to look in the jewelry stores for a replacement and 2) just in we go down with the ship...my kids have the good stuff...I do wear a fake set on board

My DH needed the ships Hospital when we were in Norway. Medicare said it would cover. Only if we were within a certain number of miles of US waters. (Can NOT remember the number...senior moment!) We paid via Ship board account and travel insurance reimbursed every cent.
Will NOT leave home without travel insurance. In fact I just bought an annual policy. WELL worth it! Our one visit reimbursed more then 10 time the annual trip insurance premiums.
what company did you use for an annual policy, if you are permitted to say

can be as early as 7am, depends on when customs clears the ship

Grandeur has 2 cast production shows and on other evenings they have a headliner show..these acts vary from singers, comedians, jugglers, violinist, magicians etc...they have a guy on the piano in the schooner bar at night and also a live band in the centrum.hope this helps

What is a "Jack" system to raise the beds. We had an accessible cabin on the Grandeur and I can't understand why the beds are so low and would like them to be higher on our next cruise.
Theresa
ask your room attendant to raise the bed and they will place a wooden platform under the bed legs.....raises the bed about 12 inches.

Let's get this out there first, I did not take the cruise insurance, I have been on 7 cruises and never needed, not even close. Now after saying that my party of 7 was scheduled to fly out of Nashville yesterday to Ft Lauderdale to board the oasis of seas with a 4:30pm departure. At approximately 9am the FAA grounded all flights entering Florida airspace due to severe weather. After waiting 4 hours to take off it was clear we were going to miss cruise. I called RCI they said I could meet the ship but two passengers did not have valid passports, they then said we could transfer and book on the allure the next day but not enough rooms. I then stated we would simply rebook on the same ship with same itinerary on June 18th and it began, all departments, emergency, post cruise, and passenger relations said sorry we will be keeping your $11,000 and you will get nothing not even a free pina colada, have a nice day. There were over 1000 passengers that missed this boat yesterday. Someone please give me some recourse. Taking all suggestions. Thanks[/quote
this is tough....if you paid with a credit card...check to see if it offered trip interruption coverage...some cards do at no additional cost .. good luck

I asked Radio via the Book of Face and he said it was like a coat check. I would not leave cash or high valuables, but my change of clothes, wine etc will be there in April :)
thank you...I feel better knowing its like a coat check...would never leave anything of value unattended...hubby just wouldnt understand ..I can hear him saying Luuuuucy we have a problem:D:eek:
-
can anyone tell me how secure the drop off is....is it like a coat check where you have to turn in a ticket to get your bag back? or is it take a chance for convenience sake?

Actually, while we absolutely love the Allure and Freedom, we are anxious to have a quiet getaway without the kids and to have a time to just relax.... not to stress about shows, tickets, etc.... not sure we will even plan much to do in Bermuda... maybe some shopping/sightseeing.
then the Grandeur is for you...will always be able to find a quiet spot somewhere
-
barring any hurricane activity, you will feel the motion of the ocean as you leave the bay into the atlantic...usually lasts only for the first full day at sea, however...always expect the unexpected...start some type of sea sickness med before you board (24-48 hrs prior to cruise)...always better to have in system then to play catch up...hope you try the Grandeur....she is a nice ship with a great crew..happy sailings!

Yes, you can leave your carry on in Chops
Here is a link to Radio's recent cruise compass on the Grandeur of the Seas.

Thank you so much

can anyone confirm if you are allowed to leave your carry on luggage at Chops on embarkation day prior to your stateroom being ready? I thought I read that on one of the posts, but now Im wondering if I really did...or was it wishful thinking:p

I could never leave my kids in the club and get off the ship..call me over protective. While my child can spend time in the kids club, I like to periodically monitor what is going on there...get a feeling on the person Im entrusting my child .. would never not be right there is something happened to my child..and lastly..what if I were involved in an accident in port ..what happens then..like I said ..just call me over protective:)

My Sister in Laws ( March 19th, 2014 ) Completed Set Sail Pass isn't showing Print and she paid it off Dec 27th, yet the April 10th Transpacific was ready to Print 3 days after she made final payment. My question is if it is still not showing Print by Cruise time, which is March 19th 2014 what will she need to do and how much will this delay their boarding. Thank You.
I had the same problem....called my travel agent and he was able to straighten out the issue...seems rccl did not have my final payment recorded good luck:p
