  1. Hello all,

All the LA excursions on my upcoming cruise are 5 hour bus tours, which does not interest me.

I thought of taking an UBER from the port to do some shopping in LA. The Beverly Centre looked good, as it has many shops that we don't have here in my hometown.

Looks like it's a 50 minute drive from the port. Does anyone know if an UBER could pick us up from the port, or would we have to walk across the street? There seems to be lots of rules for where UBERs and taxis can pick-up and drop-off.

    Thanks for your help!

  2. It's FLL to FLL with a stop in the Bahamas. Now shows:

Pricing is currently not available for this date or the selected cabin type. Please try a different departure date, cabin type or check back later. You may also call 1-800-774-6237 for further details.

This message is showing up for many cruises on the Princess website, not only the Sky Princess. They are doing some website maintenance or something.

  3. It depends. Is it almost sold out of the cabin type you want? Do you have your heart set on a particular cabin?

Is the deposit refundable? If the answer is to all 3 of these, I would lock my room in and then call princess to rebook it under new promo.

If the deposit is NOT refundable, do you lose that if you try to re-book with the new promotion?

I've already put a deposit down for a cruise in March, but would like to see if the TFF promo will make it a better deal.

  4. Hi everyone!

I just put a deposit on a cruise on the Ruby for next year - yay! I had emailed a cruise consultant and asked for a balcony and an inside cabin across the hall from each other, specifically R744 and R742. When she called me back, she said the balcony I wanted wasn't available so she booked me in R750. I wasn't in front of my computer at the time, so I didn't realize it was the aft-view premium cabin.

Soooo...although I should call her and have her switch it back to R742 (which definitely IS available on this cruise), I may just pay the extra and stick with the aft-view.

My question for all of you, is where does the door lead that is just outside this cabin? Not the one by the Terrace Pool, the one right on the port side. Does this go out to a stairway that goes down to Aloha deck or up to the Lido deck? I can't figure it out from the deck plans. I'm just wondering if it is a heavily used door to acess public areas.

    Thanks all!

  5. We took our two teens (13 and 16) on the Ruby this year, and they both enjoyed it.

Our younger daughter went to all the Teen Club (Remix) activities. They had a tour of the ship, met the captain, did a mixology class, movie night, hot tub party, and a week-long 'Survivor' sort of game. She loved the club supervisors too.

My older daughter didn't go to the Teen club, but she entered The Voice of the Ocean contest, and made it through to the last night! She spent a lot of time at the gym, or just napping.

They both had such a great time, we are going on the Ruby again next year! I recommend it for teens for sure!

  6. Loved your vlogs! I just watched all 3 from your Emerald cruise, and I felt like I was right on board with you. Laughed out loud at the comment from the fellow passenger who didn't want to be seated with Republicans!

We were recently on the Ruby, so everything looked very familiar. I am going on the Emerald with my mom in the fall, so I was happy to see how similar it is.

Hope you enjoyed Vancouver (my hometown!)

  7. We went on the Mexican Riviera cruise on the Ruby in February, and brought our 2 teen daughters with us. Our 13 year old loved the Teen Lounge. She went there each day and did all the activities they organized. They had a Pool Party, a Mixology class where they made mocktails, and a tour of the bridge and engine rooms. There were only a couple dozen teens on board, but she met some nice kids and had lots of fun. My 16 year old daughter was not interested in meeting new people, so she didn't go to the Teen Lounge at all, but she took part in the Voice of the Ocean competition, and made it to the final night, so that was very exciting for her. Both girls loved the ports, especially the lighthouse hike in Mazatlan.

  8. We just took our 13 and 16 year old kids on a 7-day cruise. We chose a week when they had both Monday and Friday off school due to a Stat holiday and a Professional Development day. They only missed out on 3 days of school.

I let the teachers know in advance by emailing them, and they were fine with giving the kids some assignments to make up the missed classes. We also had to sign a form and return it to the office. Not a big deal.

I can hardly believe the rules and regulations some of you have to deal with regarding absences. Failing a semester for missing 5 days of school? Truancy court? Yikes!

We are in Canada, and have not encountered these types of rules.

  9. Glad she was found. How would they know someone went missing in the middle of the night? I can understand someone missing after leaving a port if they didn't make it back in time. But just randomly in the middle of the night? Did someone report her missing? How could she not have heard her name 4 times if she was just out for a walk/snack? So weird...

  10. Neverbeenhere, since you've done that cruise many times, what kind of atmosphere/passenger demographic is on the ship? I've done many 7 and 10 day, but never a 5 day.

Just jumping in here, as we were just on the Ruby. My daughter said that the Youth Lounge staff told them that on the 5-day Cabo cruise this week, there were going to be 133 teens on board! That's only teens from 13-17. I'm sure there will be lots of kiddies in the 12 and under group too.

To compare, there were only 36 teens on our 7-day Mexican Riviera cruise.

  11. We just returned home (to SNOWY Vancouver) from our 7-day cruise on the Ruby Princess.

Our family had a wonderful time, and enjoyed many of the activities on the ship and in the ports we visited.

I will try to post some photos and a review, but I would also be happy to answer any questions anyone has about the Ruby!
