  1. So I joined that Facebook group that was mentioned earlier in this thread to find out about all this hard evidence of issues and once I started asking simple questions over there the 3 chief complainers started flying off the handle, acting like crybabies, and got the thread deleted. (and were calling for my ban because I dared to question there dramatic stories of what happened in an area I was right next to for 4 days_

Needless to say I recommend anyone here to take these complaints with a grain of salt (or a whole bag) and go see for yourself. I didn't find any reasonable evidence or proof that anyone had there cruise ruined by any of these pre-drydock activities.

    That is just MY opinion.

Some people live to complain...and they normally start out by saying "I never complain" ... OH yes you do. LOL

i also joined the facebook group to see any pictures people might have. It looks like they are doing a good job of trying to brighten up the currently darken hallways. the decor is very similar to the sunshine/vista. But yes, that facebook group is very very toxic. never seen a group that bad..wow

Can one of you post a link to this Facebook page?

  2. Carnival doesn't care about any private excursions. In fact, booking private excursions, then expecting Carnival to notify you of a change in itinerary so you don't lose the money you spent on those private excursions, is contrary to Carnival's mission statement which is: Make More Money.

It's not Carnivals responsibility to make sure that private excursion companys makes money. As far as Carnival's "mission statement" goes, that should be the mission statement of every company, whether they admit it or not.. If a business doesn't make a profit how do they stay in business?

  3. Are you positive because Carnival Cruise Lines(US) and Carnival Cruise Line (AU) are 2 independent lines own by Carnival Corporation. They also own Costa, Princess Cruises, Holland America, Cunard, P&O Cruises, Seabourn, Aida and Fathom.

I don't think any of Carnival Corporation cruise lines link their rewards programs. I may be wrong but I don't think I am. If you find out for sure please let me know.

  4. Got an email this morning from my travel agent. When I just clicked on the link,it says there is a problem with the link. Does that mean the upsell offer is sold out?

    Laura

It may be a problem with the link. I would just call Carnival and ask.

  5. THANK YOU! otherwise it is going to end up the route of having to "reserve chairs" for a certain amount of time. and they will probably start charging for that.

Oh no, another conspiracy rumor starting......

You got that right. More then likely there will be a post on John Heald's Facebook page asking if it's true that according to Cruise Critic we will have to reserve a lounge chair at the pool.

  6. But for some reason it won't work on an iPad, even though a iPad and iPhone run IOS platform. The iPad will open show your sign and sail balance only. All other functions won't open.:(

I guess I'll have use my phone, but it would had been nice to use it on the iPad larger screen.

  7. I decided to check out my own question. I Called Carnival's I. T. department, I was told that they couldn't get the Hub app to work on a iPad. They needed more information from Apple, but Apple wasn't cooperating with them. :( (n):(

  8. Last December on the Breeze the Carnival Hub app was only partially functional when using it on a iPad. I check with guest services to see if something was wrong and was told that Carnival was still working to get it to work on a iPad.

Has anyone recently tried it with an iPad?

  9. Cool. I stayed at that Holiday Inn Express once last year. I'm assuming the Staybridge on Poydras? Check out Mother's restaurant across the street. My favorite is their debris po boy and jerry's jambalaya. Try the charbroiled oysters at Drago's in the Hilton Riverside.

Drink a spotted cow for me.

Yes it's the Staybridge on Poydras. Never had a Spotted Cow.

Both Mother's and Drago's were already on my to do list.

Lets hope my 59 days and your 170 days zip by fast.:p

  10. Awesome! I went on Triumph the past two Septembers. I really like the shows they have. I think that's the last ship with the old style shows with the orchestra pit..and one night they fly in a magician from Vegas for a Vegas Style magic show with the dancers in the main lounge...then a burlesque show in the comedy club later that night. I recommend attending both of those.

My number one don't miss if you're staying that long is the WWII museum. I'd plan for five hours there. I've done it in three but that really isn't enough time. There are extras you can buy for like $5 each. The 45min video narrated by Tom Hanks is worth it. The submarine experience isn't unless you have kids that really want to do it. I always tell people the WWII museum is as good or better than any excursion on your cruise and cheaper.

Have you figured out your hotels and parking? If you need any help with that or anything else let me know. And be sure to check out the New Orleans board.

I sailed the Triumph shortly after it's famous notoriour sailing(poop ship). Glad to hear that they still have the old style shows. The will most likely disappear after it's dry dock.

I am a big WW2 buff so am defintely going to check that out.

My hotels are almost free. Pre-cruise at the Holiday Inn Express near the Super Bowl using hotel points. Post cruise for two night at Staybridge Suites for under $100 plus hotel points total for both nights.

I am flying in but taking the City of New Orleans home to Wisconsin, so I won't need parking.

Also like you, I am a solo cruiser. Love that I get to do what I want to do when I want to do.

  11. Great thread Greg, started reading at 10:30 this morning and just finished it few minutes ago.:D

I am sailing out NOLA early November on the Triumph, staying the night before and two night after the cruise, any recommendations of things not miss in NOLA.

I still find it hard believe how everyone can consume 15 drinks in only 24 hour. I doubt i could drink that in an entire cruise. ;p
