  1. We are cruising on Panorama this Christmas.  From the roll call and other groups it is clear the ship will be FULL of teens.  My son will be 14.5 and wants to be in Club 02.  He is in his second year of high school.  We actually used Circle C a couple of years ago and he was too old for that group of kids even then.  I know he won't even go to the clubs at all if he has to be in Circle C. I agree with him the Circle C is not appropriate for him. What have people's experiences been with moving up to Club O2 on a full ship?  I hear people talk about moving up in the younger groups but rarely about this group and never on super full ships.  Thanks in advance!

  2. I think you are good for sure unless it is a typical travel holiday season like spring break or christmas type time.  MCO is saying arrive at the airport 3 hours ahead of time now.  3 hours would be cutting it close during high travel times.  I wouldn't do it, but I have also ended up in a security line at MCO that took 2 hours to get through (not including the baggage check line). I also, come from a lot further across time zones and flights are expensive.  I would do the 6:30 and hit Animal Kingdom to ride Flight of Passage and blame it on not being quite comfortable with the earlier flight time 😉

  3. seems like it is usually cheaper with a couple of people to Uber or use a taxi than the shuttle.  I know LGB would be the easy choice but tickets are 4 times as much!  At that price I might as well drive. From what my LA friends are saying it might be the same amount of time from stepping off the plane to port at both airports.  That's why I was wondering.

  4. So a couple of thoughts.  If you are trying to stay in Ketosis it is my theory that you can just significantly up the fat and protein to make up for the carbs you MUST consume.  So like 10 steaks and butter on everything and don't waste carbs on veggies, should balance, desert and fruity cocktails.  So maybe you make it better by drinking spiked adult shakes that contain fat than frozen fruity cocktails?  At least skip the breads?  Do not cheat every other day so your body stays confused enough that nothing happens?  The reality is, I plan to let it go that week, recognizing that I will likely gain at least 5 pounds, if not 10.

  5. I second the chocolate melting cake.  Its worth sitting through dinner for.  Also, If I recall, you can't even pay for drinks after you get to 15 so once you hit 14 drinks, start buying them "for friends."  You would think you would never make 15 drinks in a day but it is doable on sea days without even being overly tipsy, especially if you assume you will never get there and discard drinks once they get warm.  I like the Kiss on the Lips. But I feel like a fool ordering it.

  6. I _______, the parent of blank give my child __________ permission to travel as needed with __(your name)____________ for the time period of _________ associated with a carnival cruise.  This includes travel to and from the cruise as well as travel within port stops.  _________ may also obtain emergency medical care for my child as ____ deems necessary.  If there are any questions regarding the forgoing I can be reached at ______.

Either have it notarized or add a copy of parent drivers license and signature.  I would not be surprised if you are never asked for it.

  7. Agree about getting an aft if you can.  When we did this trip we had suite mid-ship.  I really considered an aft suite but there are a lot of complaints about the vibration on this ship in the aft cabins.  I knew the vibration would drive me batty if even half of what people were saying was true.  But I am hyper sensitive to vibration.  The Aft would have been an awesome spot to watch the crossing!

  8. You made the right choice.  Orlando recently (like a couple of weeks ago) implemented "enhanced security."  They are now saying to allow 2 hours just to get through security.  I have never had it take less than an hour and had once where it took 3 hours.  That's after checking bags (which is approximately a 30 mile walk from the Contrans drop off ;)) and not including the time to get to your gate after you get through security.  There is plenty to do inside the gates if you end up there ahead of time but I do think it is insane that people accept 2 hours to get through security.  It should not take that long (hello, that's two hours where someone can stand in an area with way more people than a single airplane with banned items).

  9. You definitely want an excursion in Freeport. Whether it be for snorkeling or something else.  We did the kayak thing also and it made me fall in love with the island.  So many people really don't like the Freeport stop, but I suspect that is because they have not done it with a planned excursion.  I wouldn't give up that Kayak tour and beach for snorkeling but I get lots of chances to snorkel.

  10. It has actual pub for the Red Frog Pub with traditional bar games and really good pub type bands in the evenings.  The comedy club is very comfortable (get there a bit early) and decorated like Alice in Wonderland.  Also Serenity has a pool and very good bar service.  As others have said, not feeling lost is a huge bonus!  On our cruise they played movies in the afternoons in the main theater.  There was never anyone there and it was pretty cool to have the place almost to ourselves.  There was literally one other couple the day we went.  Of course, they were playing Pitch Perfect 3 and, at 50, I think I was about the 5th youngest person on the cruise.  So that might have had something to do with it!

Almost forgot, make steakhouse reservations.  It is really good and a nice experience.  I actually wished I had made like 3 reservations for it!
