  1. So odd question, what is the consensus of the D 4 daily drinks for minors? On our last cruise we were told that we could not use her vouchers (although she is D all by herself, not mine.) Celebrity could figure out how to make milkshakes at the coffee bar. Royal, notsomuch.

That's what we ended up doing. It was very easy fir the agent at Port Everglades.

    My workaround:

I am solo and my kids are in a separate cabin. I couldn't add them as authorized users. So I just added their father's credit card to their cabin. I thought that he would appreciate that. 🙂

Related Medallion App question: How do I add someone in another cabin as an authorized user to my credit card?

If the other person attempts to enter the credit card on their Medallion Class app, they receive an error saying: "Payment Already Exists.  This payment already exists for another guest.  Have them add you as a authorized user of their account or add a different payment."

I have the same issue so I am guessing that it will be a port fix.

They never had your points at any time, only their own points but your status.

That isn't the way the accounts read for two of my children. My 14 year old's account shows my point number and status. She is now the same status with her own earned points, but her points show my total. Another child turned 18 recently. So he had my status and point count from when he turned 18.  We recently cruised and the point count continued on and did not reset.

But, my older son's account has his points and status just that, his points and status. He definitely had more points a few years ago.

That being said, my daughter's point count was wrong a few months ago. When I asked about it, they were actually seeing one number and her account was showing an entirely different number. But when cruise points were rewarded they got everything straighten out on her account.

  5. I just did 20 nights on the Jewel with my 14 year old daughter. There weren't all that many children on board in December but there should be more for Spring Break. We were pretty (very) bored the entire time. But I chose the Jewel because I wanted fewer children onboard.

There aren't many bells and whistles for children. It seemed to be more of a "sit in the atrium area, drink, listen to live music" vibe. Formal night definitely brought out the tuxedoes and gowns, though.

My bad. Princess does say 3 days prior for PCR, 2 days for Antigen test.  I will accept my punishment and not allow any drinks to touch my lips for 8 hrs a day (while sleeping😉)

Where is this on their site? Everything that I see is still 2 days including my documents. I'm not so sure that the PCR will come in 2 days but I guess that we will make a trial run PCR test today just to make sure.

If one is Diamond or above can one use a daily drink voucher to purchase a milkshake?

No, not even for a minor Diamond. We could do the B1G1free which they quoted around $3 each basically.

Now I had read that others could use the minor Diamonds drink vouchers but the Allure actually would not allow us to use them. He said that it was notated "No alcoholic beverages."

I should add that Cafe Promenade had Strawberry and Vanilla smoothies.

The policy doesn’t change until March 1st.  Are they still handing out N95 masks?   I hope you enjoyed your cruise. I can’t wait until my next cruise!

On RCCL it changed on February 14th for sailings going forward. We sailed on the 13th and were not allowed the same courtesy as of the 14th.

I don’t think it says a start date of March 1st.  Didn’t it say cruises departing on March 1st or after?  Which would mean if a cruise departed the day before then they would still have to wear a mask on that sailing???  Am I reading this wrong?

I just got of the Allure. We sailed the day before the policy changed. We absolutely had to continue wearing masks in vaccinated areas for the entirety of the cruise.

  10. I have an Ultra Spacious Balcony cabin on the Allure right now. It sleeps 6. There are 2 of us. Lots of space and it doesn't feel like a standard ship cabin at all.

No upper berth, but a set of bunk beds. There is a curtain to close that area as well as a curtain to close off the sleeper sofa section.

On the downside, since the cabin is so large, it is "earmarked" for larger parties. Our "neighbors" have 3 or 4 young children. One of them cries and has temper tantrums quite often. Last night they must have put the child to bed. There was crying and banging on the wall (probably kicking the wall.) That lasted over an hour. And I don't think that the kids leave the cabin for any kids' clubs.

I didn't think that part through when I booked the cabin. But then again, we've had a cabin with a connecting door to a family with twin babies. They didn't use the childcare at all. So you just never know.

I agree that Rome cannot be seen in a day and not the ideal way to visit Rome.  We are arriving in Barcelona on a Monday and getting on the ship on Friday so we will have some time in Spain to sightsee before we get on the frantic port intensive cruise.

We spent one day in Barcelona, We went to La Familia Sagrada. We also did a Fat Tire bike tour, which was fabulous. We also visited Tarragona. That was very nice as well. And we went to a Gladiator show (and couldn't understand a word.) It was still very fun and it took place in the amphitheatre. And those rocks are even less comfortable to sit on than they look. The best part was an airshow that began during the show. So  as we were sitting in this colosseum structure, on the hard, sharp rocks, watching a Gladiator show (in Spanish,)  an air show pops up. That was rather surreal. lol

We were never told either way on our bid. Sailed in the cabin we had booked. Good news we were very happy with that cabin.  I did share with Guest Services that the lack of customer service from the RoyalUp company was not a good look for Royal Caribbean.  They said sorry but clear they didn't really care.

I absolutely agree with you. It is not a good look for Royal. For some people this is the first interaction that they have with Royal. Not a good start at all.

  13. I did 20 nights on the Jewel with my 14 year old daughter (the youngest of 8.) She loves cruising and really doesn't care where she is if she is on a ship. Teens sleep late and stay up late. There really wasn't anything to do on the ship anyway so that was fine with me. I bought the streaming internet package and by 9pm I would give it to her.

She cruised with me in August, September, October, November and December. And we have a cruise in a week. This time is just weird. And it has gotten weirder as the time has passed. So her comfort level was to pretty much stay in the cabin. I brought her breakfast. I brought her lunch. We did go to the main dining room for dinner followed by shuffleboard. She went to two shows in those 20 nights, one less than me.

It has been a long two years. Her behavior on ships is pretty much how life has been for the past couple years. So let her call the shots. If she doesn't want to do anything, she hangs out with you. To me, that is still a win.

I know the cons of going it alone are not getting back to the ship on time.

For those who have taken the train on their own from Civitavecchia to Rome would you recommend it to save time and money and do you have any tips?

We did in in 2019. I would not recommend it to anyone.

It was difficult. Trains were packed (like standing room only if that.) People could not get off the train at their stops because it was so packed. It took about 1.5 hours each way. But to leave Rome, the train was really, really far from the main terminal. It was quite a run and we barely made it. We made it back to the ship with 10 minutes to spare. And it was a miserable, busy day in Rome.

It was a 12 night Med cruise with only one sea day. We didn't do any ship tours and we disembarked at every port. I wouldn't do Rome again from a ship. It seems to be the sort of place where you need quite a few days to even make a dent.

  15. My teen daughter and I just did 20 nights on a B2B2B. I just packed enough for the entire trip. We never did get an offer for the flat rate laundry. And looking at the prices a la carte, I could buy or wash at just about the same price. So I bought. I did separate clothing into compression bags by cruise. So then we only needed that particular bag to cover that sailing. Any unused pieces were carried forward to the next cruise.

    What did Uber charge?

I just took a Lyft from Miami cruise port to FLL. We got off the ship at 7:30. At that time there were only pre-arranged shuttles which I did not have. We got to FLL at 8:35. It was $38 plus tip. That being said, it was a weekend so the surge wasn't in effect. The week (weekday) before I had wanted to go to Walmart between B2B. It was $100 one way to go the 8 miles. I got Target delivery instead.
