I feel it really depends on the city setup based on what I'm reading on the forums.
I hear Seattle was really fast, I wanted one less thing to worry about getting lost, so I'm picking them up there.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the replies! I'm having so much trouble with the app and the website lately. I've tried to order our medallions. We're in a suite, so I think it's supposed to ship free. After trying a couple of times in the last several weeks, it still won't let me. We do have quite a bit of OBC, so I guess we'll wait until we get to the ship to make reservations. It's a 16 night cruise, so I guess they'll fit us in somewhere!!
I had problems with the Medallion order for a long time, then I essentially started over by hitting the order medallion section vs going back into my order through the "get ready, or all set".
If that doesn't work, you can try the web version of the app online (if you haven't already)?

Cannot really watch videos at work, but thanks for the recap.

Also, no savings to waiting. I seem to recall somewhere that the option to add this to your sailing on boarding is limited. Like the first day or two? I don't have the specifics here.
And, you can buy say the Plus at time of booking, and then use the chat function to upgrade to Premier later if you wish. (I did so)
-
Are you asking if your (already paid for) Premier package stays with you when you get upgraded?
Mine has. I highly doubt they would take away those services, particularly since you've paid for them by the time the upgrade bidding occurs.

You aren't alone. I had my partner download the app this weekend. He didn't want to sign up, so entered the booking number. Got all checked in.
THEN the app kicked him out. He signed up this time, so he didn't have to memorize the booking number. Added the cruise booking, and now it doesn't show up! It said it was added, can't readd it, and not there.
For me, still have the medallion issue. Now I'm up to 9 items in my cart, and it never goes through. I give up until there's an update, or my cruise happens, whichever comes first.
(at least we're checked in)

I had booked my reservations then upgraded to Premier. I then canceled my dinner reservations and rebooked (both through the app) to get the "free" dinners.
The refund showed up on my card about a week later.

I have booked it, because my honey likes shellfish, and while I cannot eat it, I can enjoy the other things on the menu just fine. (sensitive, not allergic). Meanwhile, I cannot book at Sabatini’s at all that week, figure they must be doing something to it. So it's Crown, Catch and MDR for dinners unless something else catches our eye. 🙂

Another vote on the train. They do a great job with those trains, and well the state is big. Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. 🙂
-
I did an upgrade through Princess, and while my header still says PLUS. There are line items for Premier upgrade in the booking details.
App also continues to say Plus. I figure, whatever, as long as I get the benefits I'm good.
I know it works because I booked two specialty dining at no cost.

Cruise critic guide per month for Alaska has something for April.

Essentially, it depends on where you are going. Some areas may have too much snow, while others it's ok.

From Nov 2023, this website has a link to the wine menu. At least, give a brouse?

All the cruise lines have multiple bars ranging from wine to martini to pretty much anything. I guess, I am not sure that region of the world matters to the bar list?

I have seen and I would love it if I was able to get on one of the actual boats on the show and could meet one of the captains (I don't ask for much!), THAT I would pay for.
Apparently you can. https://alaskacrabtour.com/

I literally did this two weeks ago. All through chat box.
All that was needed was "what is the price difference". "Thank you, can I get Premier?". It was all done through that. I had to pay the difference promptly otherwise it wouldn't go into effect.
Now, my booking still shows Plus, BUT in the booking details you can see the upgrade to Premier. And then I booked two specialty restaurants "free".
PS: she did say that doing it via app or web not through the service can cause issues, so she was glad that I contacted them. Take it for what it is. 😉

I travel so much for business that it really doesn't bother me to switch to something else for a 7 day cruise. If it was longer, I might bring my own.
Lotion I definitely bring my own. I have a pretty strong preference on what I like there.
-
Like many, it depends. What I like about it is that I can see what is the recommended time of departure or arrival so that I can do some comparative shopping.
Best thing about it, until it's completely firm, it's changable and generally at a reasonable price. I booked my return from VAN to SEA cheaper, at a reasonable schedule.
it's a great tool, used wisely.

Depending on when you are going, you could be at risk of sold out tours.
This is just an example:
-
I have cruised both, and to me Princess has just a touch higher quality. That said, it really depends on what and where you want to go. And just about everyone has "free at sea" lately, they just market it differently.
For Alaska, itinerary, time at port, and comfort while viewing the scenery was key to me. Is it for both of you? What are your goals?

We’re renting a car and planning to stop at Michelle Phillips’ sled dog camp in July. This is a bucket list trip for my mother-in-law, and the sled dogs are a high priority for her. About what time did you stop? No reservations are necessary, correct? Thanks!
Would it be these folks? if so, no reservations appear to be needed.

As far as I can tell, as I'm 95 days out, there's no change to reservations. Since I'm now paid up, I can book specialty, about it.
-
I googled suite benefits, discovery, and then clicked the PDF link. Which lead to the listing.
With the ongoing changes on the Princess ships, is it current? Probably not.
May want to just ask through the online chat perhaps?
-
I was able to book through the app both the Catch and Crown Grill, but not Sabatini's or the dining rooms (not really interested there, but was testing it). Yes I'm paid up.
Not in a rush currently, got the things I wanted on the at sea days so I'm happy with that at least.

It might be that they aren't offering it through that website service next year? When I went to the link, it had nothing after Oct 2024 for availability.
when I selected your ship and May, I saw lots of other tours, but not that one.
Could be that they haven't decided.
I agree, you may need to contact the company directly and see what they say.
