  1. Have been to Ochos Rios with no problems at all, although in fairness we did not wander around the streets but went straight to the beach. Don't feel any need to go again however and this is true for Mexico as well.

I would gladly visit all the Med ports time after time - there is always something to keep you occupied and, if not, stay onboard and enjoy the peace of a half empty ship.

Been to India, Goa and Sri Lanka and other parts of Malaysia and have no wish to go back with the exception of Singapore - one of our most favourite places in the world. Didn't know about not taking medications into Singapore - we had no problems on our visits - I think chewing gum is more of a problem.

Have been to Morocco - would not rush back there but, unless I had visited it in the first place, I would not know that.

So many more places we want to visit/cruise to - South America, Alaska, Panama Canal, Hawaii, Circumnavigation of Australia, South Pacific etc. etc. etc. We would never rule out any new itineraries. We will be visiting Dubai and Oman this year and I will be very interested to see what they are like - DH has visited UAE regularly with his job but I have never been. We are also visiting Egypt, where I have never wished to visit, but DH has a boyhood ambition to see the Pyramids ever since being shown pictures of them taken by his father in WW2.

The world is a big place and this life is not a rehearsal - I want to see as much as I can before my travelling days are over. If I don't like a place, I have no need to go there again.

  2. Most people that bring NV aboard start out as a little cold or so they think. Its impossible, and not right to regulate people even on a cruiseship, you have just as much chance catching NV when going to a hotel, or anywhere else. When you put yourself in large groups its a chance we all take imo.

A cold is NOTHING to do with norovirus. NV is the common winter vomiting disease which rampages through schools and offices in the winter months. All cruiselines ask if you have had any NV symptoms before you join a cruise. If you have had symptoms you should be honest and tell the cruiseline even if you are denied boarding. It is a nasty illness and can cause fatalities among children and elderly people.

  3. We were only in the Azores from noon to 6. Our tour started at 1 and we were back at the ship a little after 5:30 so no time in town. This was the first ship tour I ever had that they didn't stop to "shop" somewhere.

By the way, it is a LONG walk from the pier into town (20-30 minutes along the sea wall - there was a shuttle bus for $5 each way!!!!). The people we talked to that didn't do a tour and just walked into town, said there was nothing special to see or do there and, of course, everything is so expensive that no one I talked to bought anything either.

I quite agree - a long walk and nothing much to see. Much better to do a ship tour if you want to get off the ship.

  4. What we purchased was not a great work of art. It was a somewhat limited edition Norman Rockwell print (370 of 900). However, it was what I wanted as I love his work. I aim to try and get another piece to pair with it when we cruise in January. I am not one of those who believe that I am going to pick up a Dali or a Picasso on a cruise ship:p I do not have to have an original on my wall, a print will do just as well, if I like the subject matter.

Whatever the value of the print, it is very professionally framed and looks very nice on my wall and made a lovely birthday present for me from my DH and we really enoyed the cheese and wine party on board where we bought it (did not bid in an auction for it):D

  5. Success - we have received our artwork at last - well it actually arrived three weeks ago, whilst we were abroad, and has been sitting in our neighbour's garage - she forgot all about it.

It is perfect - beautifully framed - and is already in pride of place on the wall in our lounge.

I will buy more Princess artwork now that I have confidence that it will arrive as promised:D

  6. Hi,

Does anyone have a contact number for the company that runs the Princess art auctions. I successfully bid for a piece of artwork on the Sea Princess (March 8th cruise) that has still not arrived - however I'm in the process of moving home and my purchase form is in amongst a million other pieces of paperwork.

I'd appreciate it if anyone can help.

    Thanks,

    R

I also bought some artwork on Sea Princess but on the April transatlantic cruise. I was told it would take 6-8 weeks to reach us and I received an undated confirmatory letter along with a certificate of authenticity but since then - nothing. I will give them another couple of weeks and then start chasing them. They were quick enough to charge the purchase to my credit card.

Berneslai - The UK number is 0-800-917-2864. The address is 24 SW 12th Avenue, Dania Beach, FL 33004.

  7. I was under the impression that your Queen had her own boat. ;)

Well she did before that nasty Mr Blair made her sell it:mad: I think they should let her have another one. The RY is a lovely vessel and I think it is a shame that she is now docked as a tourist attraction.

The Queen works really hard promoting this country and she deserves her little luxuries. She is over 80 now and still working - not something I think most of us would want to be doing and yes I know she is fabulously rich etc. etc. etc. but I am a Royalist and would much prefer my money to go on the Queen than on the leeches in parliament who are elected to govern us and who all make a mint whilst doing so - why should we have to pay for Gordon's lightbulbs!!!

Anyway, rant over - the Queen took a Hebridean cruise to celebrate her 60th (Diamond) wedding anniversary. She chartered the whole ship and took all her family with her sailing round Scotland and she paid for it herself. These ships are really luxurious and I would love to go on one.

  8. we had a very rough crossing on the Sapphire Jan 23 cruise across the Tasman. Up to 50 ft seas, I kid you not. Two and half days of rock and roll. we got to Hobart 8 hours late.

We too were on that cruise. What a ride!!! How scared was I - verrrrry scared indeed but we all survived - although the restaurants were only half full!!!!:p

However, they said that the previous cruise from Sydney to Auckland experienced very calm conditions on the Tasman - so you pay your money and take your chance.

jdechter - what did you think of the cruise??? We thought it was absolutely wonderful - every minute - even the 50ft seas!!!!:D
