The cruises aren't on the RCI site yet.  They are only currently being offered to C&A members and won't be on the site right away.  You have to call.  We're just waiting til they show up on the site.  We plan to book a b2b in May 2020 because I plan to retire in April 2020.  We may just end up doing Grandeur instead depending on what is available the cost.  We've been on Oasis fora  b2b already and have been on Explorer 4 times (same class as Adventure) so neither is really "new" to us.  Plus, I love Grandeur for the relaxation and ease of getting to Baltimore for us.

Not entirely accurate. It is on the website. You just need to backdoor the search. You can search by Leaving From Cape Liberty and then select Oasis as the ship, and select any of the discussed itineraries.

Cape Liberty Cruises are already out for February and March 2020.  They came out last year.  The only non Bahamas cruises are in January 3 11 night Southern Itineraries.  I'm booked on 2 of them with a B2B January 27th and February 7th.  I also booked 4/5/20.

Those have been out for a very long time. The itineraries for 2020-2021 are for April 2020 and on. Those will likely be released this evening/tomorrow.

If Oasis was actually coming to Bayonne, it’s the best kept secret by the cruise line and the port.  I am hopeful it happens, but with itineraries released this upcoming week I would think something else (other than Anthems captain) would give some sort of clue but there has been no other talk.  Even Anthems return to Southampton was confirmed a few weeks before the itineraries released.  Same thing with Ovation going to Alaska.  Like I said, I’m hopeful but there’s not much smoke surrounding it.

...hence my initial posting of this topic back on November 8th. I was asking what people have heard and/or thought. Nobody really knows for certain, but we will find out this week!

Ok, we can stop talking about Stamford. That’s not happening in this lifetime or the next.

Agreed (about stop talking about Stamford. It doesn’t matter to me and is not relevant to my initial post! What they choose to do in CT is of no interest to me. I asked about Bayonne and what was prospectively coming for that terminal. Lets stop talking about other ports on this thread. Thank you!

It appears that Adventure of the Seas will likely be the only Royal Caribbean ship in Bayonne during the summer of 2020. The 9 night Bermuda/Caribbean sailings always depart on a Thursday, arrived in Bermuda on Saturday and then arrived in St. Maarten on a Monday. Adventure will have 9 night itineraries on: 05.21.20, 06.18.20, 07.02.20, 07.03.20, and 08.14.20…In between those sailings, Adventure will still offer 5 night Bermuda sailings.

However, I spoke with someone who is aboard Anthem right now and she said that she asked an officer aboard the ship what they thought, and they mentioned that they believe a Freedom Class ship will be sent to Bayonne in 2020. We may just have to wait until the week of December 10th to find out (when Royal officially released the Summer 2020 Itineraries)

Anyone have any guess as to which ship will be replacing Anthem in Bayonne when she sails to Europe in 2020?

No it didn't. Liberty was in Bayonne from May 2015 - November 2015 until Anthem got here.

I surrender. Please stop criticizing all of the insignificant details. This post was initially opened because I wanted to see what people thought about an incoming ship. Not all of the other nonsense thaf followed. Please stop.

You did... you said "lbs."   That is an abbreviation for pounds, which is a unit of weight.

I certainly do not need the links to wikipedia. LOL

Seriously? Again, the nitpicking details. Yes, lbs = pounds.

In case you were unaware, tons is 2000 lbs...

You can figure out the rest.

My opinion, I don't want a new ship.  RCI seems to think a 50% premium is fair for a new and improved ship.

Anthem for me is just fine.

Totally appreciate that sentiment as well. But would be nice to see what’s in store. I do love Adventute though and wouldn’t mind having a Freedom Class ship come back to Bayonne!

News from Anthem.  An officer said that there is talk of dredging for an Oasis class ship in Bayonne.  Heard this one myself — not second hand info.  Second hand info — a Captain, not named, has talked of being able to lower the stacks on an Oasis class ship for Bayonne.  We shall see.

This is all new info for me, but that is VERY exciting!

I agree with you that an Oasis class ship will not be coming to Cape Liberty any time soon if ever. They could fit under the Verrazano IF they lowered the funnels. They are not going to do that every week. No shot.

I was just referring to the terminal itself. It could definitely handle an Oasis class ship even at max capacity.

I don’t know if the terminal could even handle it either to be honest. I might be able to, but maybe not. Just look what they had to do to accommodate Symphony in Miami. They built an entirely new terminal just for this one ship. Granted, it is one big ass ship, but still an Oasis Class ship like the others. Don’t think an Oasis Class ship will ever be in Bayonne. But a Quantum Ultra Class seems entirely possible.

4180 passenger count for Anthem is based on double occupancy.  During summer months she sails close to max capacity of 4905.  That's only 10% fewer than Oasis' 5400.  Our sailing last July was at max capacity thanks to kids sail free promo, and while there was a long queue of traffic on the pier check-in proceeded smoothly.

Much like your comment, the 5400 number is also based upon double occupancy. An Oasis Class Ship at Maximum Capacity can hold 8300+ people.

Seriously?  The terminal easily handles the Quantum class.  It's not a large leap to the Oasis class.

I believe that this is false.

But Oasis class ships are warm climate ships.  That's a bigger reason that one wouldn't come to Bayonne.

Yes, seriously. The Quantum Class ships BARELY make it under the bridge, and that’s when they take on water in the lowest deck to ensure clearance. With the Oasis Class ships being a full two decks higher than the Quantum Class ships (18 decks vs. 16 decks), that is a tremendous differenece. The gross tonnage is also a significant jump (225,282 tons vs. 167,800 tons — that’s 114,964,000 lbs. difference). And last, but certainly not least, the Oasis Class ships can hold 5400 passengers, while the Quantum Class ships hold 4180 passengers (almost 25% more). The difference between these two classes of ships is more than just one being cold-weather ready!!
