  1. And trust me, I feel ridiculous posting this, but it seems to be they've been installed wrong. That is, when you go to yank some TP off the roll, too often the entire roll flies off the holder and rolls down the bathroom floor. I mean, I learned pretty quickly to hold on to it, but it wasn't just in our room, but in the public bathrooms as well. It seems that if the holder were turned around, the act of pulling off paper wouldn't spin the whole roll off the holder. Am I just crazy or has anyone else noticed this???

  2. Bathrobe is a very generic term used for an item that today serves a multitude of uses. Considering the fact that there are very few baths on the NS, I wouldn't put too much emphasis on the original meaning of the word. The Lido Market shares its deck with the fitness centre, the spa, the hydro pool, hot tubs and two swimming pools, all areas where coverups of this nature are pretty common, so it's quite understandable that one is going to see the occasional passenger crossing through on the way to or from these other areas. Some might even stop along the way for a bite.

While I personally wouldn't use one outside my cabin, a white terrycloth robe doesn't offend my sensibilities as much as some of the flimsy, see-through "coverups" that I frequently see in the Lido Market.

Exactly this. I walk thru the LIDO on my way to the hydrotherapy suite.  In my bathrobe. I don't eat or sit down, but it's just the easiest way to get there. What else should I do?

  3. Mods, you may move this, or other members, I don't really see a forum for this question.

If I were a gazillionaire and wanted to charter a boat for a theme cruise, say for paper mache, can I choose between levels of service for my charter? Say, for example, I want my pax to all have the very best of everything, like food and service, or maybe just the bare minimum, depending on what I choose to pay for the boat I am chartering?

  4. I'm confused. We've used Uber many times from the hotel to the port. But they tell us that most times for a pick up, that Uber drivers can usually not enter the port without a fare. And that a better bet sadly, would be a cab, but after 2 horrible experiences with Yellow Cab there, I will stand back and wait for a different cab company. But I would prefer Uber. Anyone have issues with them getting in???

  5. A lot of this "banging" (known as "slamming") is caused because the ship's speed is out of synch with the waves' speed, so the ship doesn't ride up and over smoothly, but every 3rd or 4th wave catches the ship heading down when it should be going up to ride the wave, and the wave slams into the ship. Many times a small adjustment to speed can reduce this greatly, and following or "quartering" (45* to stern) seas will magnify the effect.

And yes, during the day when I suppose they weren't trying to make time, it wasn't there, and I could nap, thank og.

  6. I don't understand why they quarantine for norovirus but not upper respiratory infections.

On our second leg in Australia, during cocktail hour, there was a couple that said they visited medical and they were lined up 20 feet outside the doorway to medical.

I caught the upper respiratory the last day of the cruise, and was sick for a solid month. Wonder if I had caught this year's influenza. DH and I were both sick, and it took a shot, two rounds of antibiotics to fix it for both of us. DH can usually walk it off. But we were also had a 13.5 hour plane ride to get home.

A nasty case of norovirus can put people in the hospital if they get dehydrated enough.

And don't forget how incredibly filthy planes are. We wipe down our seats, headrests, trays, windows, overhead buttons, vents, everything. I've gotten sick on planes way more often than on the boat.

  7. As for plastic containers left by passengers, they will be recycled. Even though your cabin steward takes all the garbage from all their assigned cabins and dumps it into one bag on their cart, when they take that cart down to "sanitation" the steward is responsible for sorting through the bag and separating everything into categories (plastic, glass, paper, metal, batteries, sharps, food, hazmat). Everything other than food waste (ground and pumped overboard) and paper/cardboard (incinerated) is recycled.

    Thank you

  8. I always take my own conditioner and shampoo, and try to take used almost empty containers of hand lotions, moisturizers, spray conditioners, coconut oil, etc. And I just leave them after 7 days.

Are the crew allowed to have them? Are they thrown out, and if so, are the containers recycled? Because I am a mad recycler, and don't like to think of those containers, mostly plastic, added to the waste stream. But I would like to think the crew can use them, or someone?
