  1. What ship? We got the same offer on the Pride for July. We had an extended balcony for our first Carnival on the Pride a few years ago and loved it! There were three of us (DS age 5) then and it was nice to have room for all of us. I love sitting on the balcony with breakfast and coffee or a glass of wine and book.

We had a regular balcony on our last sailing on the Magic and it was just as nice. That said, we took the offer for the extended for $14!

    It’s the pride on may.

  2. So I got an offer to upgrade from a balcony to an extended balcony for $14 total (7 day cruise, 2 people). Seems like a good deal but this is my first cruise so I really do t know.

Does an extended balcony really make a difference? Not sure how much time we’d spend on it, but I think it would definitely get used as we both love the water.

Also, if I go for it, would I still qualify for the price protection (I booked early saver)

    Thanks!

  3. Anyone have experience with Viator tours in Freeport? Specifically the Lucayan National Park excursion.

I really want to see Lucayan but I’m a little nervous to sign up for this excursion for a few reasons:

    1. We will only be in port from 7 to 1:30. With the park being approx 45 mins away. Is this doable in the time allotted?

    2. Viator guarantees return on time to make departure or will get you to your next port of call. Freeport is the last port before home. So does this mean if we miss the ship they’ll get us home?

    3. This is my first cruise and I’m a little anxious about missing the ship. Carnival does not offer an excursion for this park though.

    Thanks!

  4. At embarkation, whether from the home port or at visiting ports, do they ever pat you down? or just walk through a metal detector and then wand you if necessary? do you have to take your shoes off? I'll be sailing with carnival if that matters, and driving to the port. No flying involved.

I don't like being touched by strangers, so I'm wondering if I need to avoid wearing any clothing with metal in them ie belt buckles, underwire bras, shoe grommets.

    Thanks!

  5. I find it odd they cancelled everything and are now taking new reservations? Did they cancel so they could raise the price on new reservations? Makes me NOT want to book with them.

They didn’t cancel everything. In November, I made a reservation for may. They never canceled and are again taking reservations on their website.

  6. If you'll feel most comfortable holding onto your "stuff" during a "wet" tour, keep it to a minimum (ship ID and a few dollar - both items not affected by water) and put them in a zipped pocket in your swim suit.

Absolutely want to take pix? Get a more recent iPhone (7 or later) and invest in a waterproof diving wallet (plastic case with gaskets), which you can wear around your waist.

Also,, get a "floatie" strap for your sunglasses.

Both the wallet and strap can be found in any dive shop.

Whatever you do take in the ocean...don’t forget to rinse with fresh water afterwards. Salt water is harsh on anything metal, such as that which sunglasses have on the hinges even if they’re plastic.

  7. Directly from carnivals faq: Seashells may be brought onboard from the ports visited if they appear to be clean and sanitized and do not have the odor of a living organism.
