We've got a very large group coming with us, and one is bringing her granddaughter who is a minor.

I got 2 different answers from Carnival.

 

Aside from a notarized letter, does she to bring anything else to bring her grandchild?

I'm taking my two granddaughters on a cruise next week (ages 10 and 8). I have certified copies of their birth certificates, "Consent to Travel" form with notarized signatures of both parents that also authorizes me to seek and/or approve medical treatment that the girls might require. I also have copies of their insurance cards.

Last summer I took a ten day cruise from San Francisco to Alaska with my grandsons (ages 3 and 5). My first thought when I read your question is "Princess Pelican Clubs!!" Both of my grandsons loved the activities, and the staff were wonderful in keeping them entertained and safe. It will also give you and your husband time together without the children. Don't feel guilty about using the Pelican's Club, you may have to drag your children out of the playroom!

Frequent rest periods are necessary (for all). Sea air and all of that walking will take a absolute cherub and turn the cherub into a whiny tempest. There are many quiet nooks about the ship for snuggly storytimes. My two grandsons loved people watching and listeniing the to music. Don't discount letting them have a whirl on the dancefloor.

I have noted that every Princess cruise I've taken the staff on Princess have been wonderful with children and try to accommodate their needs.

i would like to know the dimensions of the pools and especially about

the swim against the currents pool. and is there any lap swims on the pool?

Taking my grand-daughters on a February cruise. I'm thinking there could well be rain on a California Coastal. This will be their first cruise and they love the idea of being able to swim on a ship. All other Princess Grand Class ships I've cruised on have covered "conservatory" type pools. Does the Crown?:confused:

Does any one have a copy of the specialty coffee menu? I know when we previously sailed Princess they had a little menu of fru fru coffees you could order? Do they have alot of different syrup choices and how about sugar free?

What are the tea brands that are used in the International Cafe (for use with the beverage card?)

Jean, Is this on Princess? Are you the only adult? If you answered yes to both of those then YES, you must have passports for the G-kids. But this is a Princess contractual requirement, not a U.S. Law. Any other cruiseline, or if traveling with another adult, you are safe with just BC for the g-kids. (I know this is a RCI thread, but it has meandered a bit.)

I purchased one of these for a cruise in which I book an interior room. I'm a little claustrophobic and felt that small air movement would help. It worked like a charm! Adjustable head and multiple speed fan.

Two questions just for clarification.

 

We had a BOGO coffee card deal in 2009 and both still have punches left on the original cards - they're the goldish ones that look like playing cards. Are those cards still valid?? I spent such little time on the ship during my last cruise the card never made it out of my bag!

 

 

 

RESPONSE: I just came back from an Alaskan cruise on the Star yesterday. I had a special drinks coffee card left from a previous cruise 80 percent unused. When the waiter came around on the first day asking if we wanted to buy a coffee card, I pulled mine out and asked if it was still valid. He responded that it was. The next day I went to the International Cafe and ordered a coffee mocha, presented my card and it was punched. The next day, I went to the International Cafe to just get a coffee. I was told that my card was invalid and that they only accepted cards purchased on this cruise. Then the young lady said rudely, "If you are looking for free coffee go to the Horizon Court." I replied that I was not looking for "free coffee" since I was attempting to use a card that I had purchased from Princess, had been told that it was still valid, and had, in fact, used it the day before. She told me to take it up with the Purser. I went to the Purser, told them what had happened and the young man I spoke to went to his supervisor. He came back and said that they could NOT honor the card since it had not been purchased on the current cruise. Then he proceeded to try to sell me a new card. No, I did not purchase a new coffee card, and I did not purchase one thing through Princess for the whole cruise. Cheapest final billing I ever had on a cruise. Childish of me I know. That being said, the cruise was wonderful, the staff (other than the young lady at the IC) were great!

MUTS was the main thing that my husband and I looked forward to in the evenings. You see the show in the theatre, done. The lounge acts at hit and miss. But MUTS is something so fun, being outside under the stars. They also provide popcorn and later in the movie warm cookies and glasses of milk. The lounge chairs are covered with a snuggly fleece and there are blankets if needed. :D

The Hilton on 17th Avenue was where we stayed (right at the 17th Ave. Bridge). You can see Port Everglades from the hotel. Would not hesitate a moment to stay there again. A Publix market is across the street, the hotel is very clean. We chose a room with the marina view. Husband loved it due to the very large yachts docked right off of our balcony.

We went to Walmart in PV because my granddaughter's stroller and box of diapers got lost somewhere between being put into the cargo area of the shuttle and the cabin. Between my daughter-in-law and myself we had five diapers in our totes and were able to pick up some from the ships store at a VERY high price. PV Walmart was a welcomed sight.

Mine is a rusty rail spike that was lying along the tracks in the Yukon. Passengers were not allowed off the train, but the conductor stepped off, picked it up and gave it to me. It's a nice conversation piece of our Alaskan cruise. Another is a carved stone shallow bowl that is used as a soap dish in the hall bath.

LOVE Purity Made Simple! I have given small bottles of it to each daughter-in-law and to women that I am fond of. It is terrific when used with a Clarisonic too.

I requested the recipe and received it within three days. The muffins taste just as I remember them from being on the ship. (They freeze well too.)

Avoid hostile comments dealing with politics or the perceived idea that a person is typical of any negative ideas you have about where they live. Don't disrespect another person's county.

We have been on four cruises in the last two years in which we had anytime dining. We have enjoyed meeting many different people over the course of our dinners.

What we have not enjoyed is being told what is "wrong" with our country (we are US citizens) and how could the "people" of our country have elected such an idiot as (Bush/Obama) as our president. The dialog becomes worse if/when they discover that we live in California and that one of us is a Democrat.
