  1. thank you for that faithfulraider. sorry for the trouble you went thru, but appreciate you getting back and letting us all know how you made out. would you mind posting that screen shot for me. i am not on the social media website and tried to find that info on the internet, without sucess. i think i would like to try to get the reduced price onboard, if for nothing else than principle. i too was told we could, but carnival rep said they couldn't put it in writing for me. TIA

  2. found this from customs. different from the other customs link. This one states that the letter is a must

    Traveling with Children

When U.S. citizen children under the age of 16 arrive by land or sea from Canada or Mexico they may present an original or copy of their birth certificate, a Consular Report of Birth Abroad, or a Naturalization Certificate.

Unless the child is accompanied by both parents, the child must have a notarized letter from the other parent or signed by both parents stating, "I acknowledge that my son/daughter is traveling outside the country with [the name of the adult] with my permission."

  3. hi all, i spent 2 hours on the phone with 3 differnt carnival fun shops reps last night. the website under gift cards, at the bottom of the page says they now accept gc for cheers, but you have to call a phone number. i called and they refunded my prepaid cheers and then said i can't pre buy with gift cards, but i could do it when i boarded for the $49.95 price. i asked for written confimatin of it and they said they couldn't do that. i'm still not convinced that they will honor the cheaper price once onboard. just curious if anyone has had any experience with this new rule. TIA

  4. does anyone know if there are any restrictions on using the cash bar credit vouchers on the first day out of galveston? kinda like the restriction they have with the drink package. we were gonna get the drink package on our next cruise out of galveston and thought if i could use those vouchers that would help tide us over until we could use the drink package. tia

  5. i have a question about the ebay flash sale. i tried to help my dad buy a carnival gift card the last time i read here about the flash sale. first there was nothing that said they were on sale. i fugured it would show up at checkout and second my dad said he would be charged both from ebay and from paypal for the transaction. so we never bought them. i'm hoping to be more informed the next time. would anyone who has done this please help answer this. tia :)

  6. we went with capt bob and Soualiga Destinations in december and he delivered an excellent day for us in St. Martin. we had brett as our captain for thr day and he was great. everything went as promised. the stop for lunch was delicious and plentiful. we got to see the planes at the beach/airport. brett stopped several times for us to just jump into the water in addition to the two scheduled stops. all around a wonderful day and a good value. it was the highlight of our cruise.

  7. not sure if this is applicable because I don't drink powerade, but the carnival faq's section also states that cartons are allowed. some drinks come in cartons that may not be packaged in cans :)

"A small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages (i.e., sparkling water, sodas, juice, and milk) packaged in cans or cartons may be brought onboard on embarkation day and must be in the guest's carry-on luggage. A small quantity is considered a maximum of 12 sealed, unopened cans/cartons of 12 ounces each or less per person."

  8. thank you smarks! I am going to be on the conquest soon and had read some negative things about it and was concerned. my belief is your cruise (or most anything in life) is what you make it, so I was sure if the ship was in bad shape, a cruise on her would be better than any day at work, BUT I appreciate your positive and candid report.

  9. the last cruise I went on, the amazing future cruise desk consultant suggested that to me. it is the first time i'll be doing early saver and was nervous about losing $100 for hubby and I, but they had a great early saver promo. she suggested I just book now and add my hubby later when I was sure we would be going, with little to no chance of needing to cancel. if I did need to cancel, I would only lose $50, a little easier to swallow
