  1. We used the Port Valet service last year on Holland America (Pier 91). It was fantastic! Worked perfectly! I'm not sure why Carnival doesn't use this service. However, if you go to the track your bags page on the Port Valet info site, Carnival is listed as one of the lines to choose from. We plan to use the service again in September when we sail on Princess (Pier 91).

Can you explain the process a little to w? I’m looking at using it in August if I decide to fly in and out of Seattle. But I’m a little apprehensive on what the ship does to make sure you’re checked in to your flight and gets your baggage there ... thanks for any info you can give..

  2. We did the Mexican riviera just this last February. While in port in Puerto Vallarta, it was very warm. Almost 90 degrees warm. And we had two days in Cabo. One day it was humid and rained, but still in 80s and the second day it was in the upper 80s..... while out at sea, it’s a different story. They closed the upper decks because it was too windy and unsafe at least one day. Overall the average for the Mexican Riviera has always seemed to be in the 80s when we have gone tho.

    Hope this helps some.

  3. We have five in our family also and usually have to take my parents along to cruise with us cause it makes it easier and cheaper to book rooms... that being said, there will only be enough life jackets in the room that each person is booked in but we always switch kids around and sometimes have more in our room than my parents do. My parents usually just book and interior and we choose at least an ocean view. So of course the kids like our room better. They won’t tell you no... but if you say something to the cabin steward he will maybe cringe a little and tell you that you shouldn’t do it. Usually we are able to get an extra life jacket in both rooms, just in case.....

  4. I was on there with you!!! I can answer about the comedy show for one night of the cruise. We only went to Eric Schwartz the first night he was on at his R show, it wasn’t crowded at all. There’s plenty of room to sit and you won’t need to get there early.

Also went to Lowell’s (not sure of his last name right now) PG show and it wasn’t crowded either. A little more crowded cause kids could go and they would take the front rows up, but you only sit there if you wanna get pointed out anyway!!!

  5. I do agree that things are different. I only remember the names of the wait staff that was on a cruise from 12 years ago (and the one we just got off of this morning for obvious reasons) on the Carnival Spirit because Francisco and Ariel made it very memorable for my family. They realized quickly that we were joking an playing around with them and I think that even makes it a better cruise for them!!

We had my ex and his 3 kids with us, along with my parents and aunt and uncle. My dad and uncle decided that they were going to joke around with the guys and move the silverware around. And every time one of them would walk by they would switch it back. They caught on quickly what we were doing and then realized that they could have fun with us cause we were having fun with them!!!

One night one of them was telling a joke and my aunt had her hand over the butter (it was part of the joke)... When the waiter that was doing the joke pushed her hand in to the butter. He thought he was gonna get in to trouble until he realized that we were ok with it and enjoyed it.

They are still personable and try to interact with you on a personal level but I do think that they have new to do and can’t spend as much time as they could in the past with you.

I will say, the head waiter on the Splendor we just got off this morning, kept my kids coming back to the dining room for dinner every night because he made them a different oragami animal every night....

  6. Just a warning, I had a great chocolate cake for my birthday the first day, after the third day in that humidity it was growing fur. Eat it quick

Thanks for the info!!! I can’t decide on a date to get a cake in our room. I always love the molten lava cake at dinner so I’m undecided on if I even want to get “extra” desert!!! I will have 3 littles with me (twin 6 year olds and an 8 year old) so I’m sure it will not go to waste!!!!

  7. Maybe it's just the sailing. Cause I noticed the sailing you are on p_mori7 when I do a mock booking it does allow for three in a scenic ocean view room. I am looking at the sailing the week after you. Maybe it's already been purchased... oh well. Guess I will keep looking at other options. Thanks anyway

  8. I have called them. The agents tell me that there is nothing on that deck that accommodates three in a room. They can do one deck higher or one deck lower. Was just wondering if anyone else had success in getting three in even any room on the Lido deck. I guess it's not an option according to carnival. :(

  9. I've tried mock bookinsbwith three in the room and I can only get rooms on the verandah deck. They won't go to the 9th deck, the Lido deck. I will keep trying. I have done the mock bookings and also called them (as late as today) and they said that they couldn't put 3 in a room on the Lido deck or scenic ocean view rooms. Weird. I wonder if it's for the sailing that I want that they can't do that....

  10. Yes. I know that they are on the Lido deck. And I can get that room as long as I have the four in our room. But I am wanting to get our other party of three on the same deck. And I haven't been able to find a room that will allow only three in a room on that deck.

  11. We have 7 people in our party. I am looking at sailing on the splendor ship. I am really interested in the scenic ocean view room in the very front of the ship. I can get this with 4 people in the room but I can't even seem to find anything that will accommodate 3 people on the Lido deck. Is there any way that I can get us all at least on the same deck? Thanks in advance!

  12. So, we are staying at the Hotel Maya the night before our cruise and we have 8 people in our party, but we have a local friend that will be joining us for the cruise. I was hoping to be able to pick him up and then take the shuttle to the port.... is the hotel going to be specific about who is on their shuttle? I can't put 5 in a room but I don't want to spend the extra $$ for another room just to get him on the shuttle... just wondering how everyone's past experience about who gets on is handled.
