I guess when you get to a Port, you will just turn off your airplane mode and you can use your cell phone and when back on the ship, turn back the airplane mode and I don’t have to pay the $5 again?

You can log on and off of “the hub” at any time. It is a one time fee for chat, per cruise.

UMMMM what are the casino drawings? I'm unfamiliar with those but am always up for chances to win money!
Usually you’ll need to be playing and they’ll pick a winner from those who are. Other times it’s based on points earned while playing slots or the tables. There is usually a drawing in the casino for a free cruise on the last night. Entries for that are based on points.
The best part is that there is no sales pitch before the drawings, unlike every other drawing on the ship.

The best parts of that app are that you can see charges to your sign and sail through the app, and you can see the schedule of activities. If you favorite an activity the app will remind you about 1/2 hr before it starts. You can see what other people in your group favorite.
At the beginning of the cruise I favorite all of the casino drawings. I’ve won 4 casino drawings on the last two cruises. $150, $250, $150, and $450. All thanks to that app.

You can download "the hub" before boarding, or while docked. Then, you purchase the chat plan while on board and the money comes out of your sign and sail account.

Let me clarify. I’ve only been on three carnival cruises in the last 10 months. The cruises left from Miami, Jacksonville, and New Orleans. None of those ports had any issues with my family arriving outside of the time slot, early/late. I people watch, and I never saw anyone being turned away because they arrived to early/late.
I’m going on another carnival cruise in March departing from Tampa. I’ll let you know what there feelings are After I return. However, I’d bet they don’t care either.

In my experience, carnival doesn’t seem to care about the embarkation appointment times. Get there a couple hours late or a couple hours early they’ll take you as you go through the line.

I sailed the Triumph on Dec 23 2017 to Dec 28. It was clean and I had no problems. I wash my hands regularly and carry hand sanitizer with me pretty much everywhere.

I prepay, and if someone goes beyond I'll give them extra on the ship. They probably work 10-12 hour days. I wouldn't be surprised if they only made about $5/hr. I know it's their choice...

I've found carnival to be pretty liberal about the age restriction once on board. We are four, two adults, and 18 yo and 15 yo daughters. I book our rooms with me and the 15 yo and my wife and the 18 yo. Sometimes the rooms are on different floors if the bookings are last minute. After we embark, we go to guest services and they can switch the rooms so the 18 yo and 15 yo are in the same room. YMMV

Gamble. 5000 points and they’ll give you free drinks for your next cruise in the casino. I think it’s 1500 to get a card on a current cruise.
-
I get the free drinks card in the casino. I don't drink and order a few bottles of water during the cruises, while gambling, for myself. I'll also order free water for my wife or daughter when they are in the casino with me maybe an alcohol free cocktail for them too. No one has said anything to me and I am pretty blatant about it.

I play table games and this last cruise I bought in $3K the first night. I already got a free drinks card offer on my next cruise, so I won't have to spend anything...
My daughter bought in $500 a few times during the cruise and never got a card, Plus she was 1500 points shy of getting a card for her next cruise.
We both played 15-20 hours this last cruise. My average bet was a lot more than hers, even though she won more.

I came back from carnival on 12/28. During that cruise I was comp'd a ladies pamper package, a couples massage, strawberries, and free casino drinks. They slid a letter under my door, next cruise with a 5 day sea view for $100 and $100 credit.
My daughter, who doesn't gamble as much, got an 5 day interior room for $200 and $100 credit...

I brought about 20 bottles of water on a carnival cruise back in March. Not a work was said. On my cruise last week my kids brought a few bottles of gatorade and nothing was said...
I buy the $4.50 12 packs of water in advance because I take them on the excursions and to drink in the cabin.

I get the free drinks card in the casino. I tip a dollar chip for each drink.

I was on the Triumph last week and there was no customs paperwork. The people in front of me on debarkation, when asked if they had any tobacco or alcohol, they said they had 22 bottles...The customs guy said okay.

I was on the elation last week. That looks like the formal dinner menu.
I think there was a no t-shirt/shorts rule.
I wore khakis and a polo shirt or maybe a Hawaiian button down shirt.
No one really cares what you wear.
