  1. Thank you everyone for your inputs. I have search for more info about the Good Spirit Bar and it seems to perk up my interest in trying some of the cocktails.

And yes, we are from Singapore and will be purchasing the Princess Premier as we are extremely keen on the additional perks that comes with it. My hubby is very much a teetotaller, just a sips here and there. I do enjoy a glass of wine with all my meal. For this trip, I am keen to try some fancier cocktails as well but it is more for experience and exploration thus a package make sense. Just want to know if I get the same variety and fun on an older ship.

Having a nice lounge while sipping on drinks is important too. With the positive response here, we will go ahead with the purchase. 🥰

I hope your 2 children are booked in your suite.  Everyone, then, will have access to all of the suite perks.  I spoke to the Loyalty and Events manager recently and she told me that her job will transition to onboard events only.  But did mention that those in suites on Grand Class suites would be getting their own concierge in July (or was it June?); no suite lounge.

Has anyone onboard a Grand Class ship experienced this new change?

Oh yes, the children will be sharing the Owner Suite with us. No lounge is alright for us since we already had purchase Premier. And it will be fun trying out all the drinks from all over the ship. We are actually more like a teetotaller at home. But I figure we are on vacation, a few sips here and there would be nice.

  3. We will be in a full suite with Premier on the Diamond in Dec. As far as I know, there is no Concierge Lounge for Suite on the Diamond, thus we figure getting the Premier is the way to go if we want to have the better grade wine or cocktails. And since we will be paying the crew appreciation, needed the WIFI, want extra specialty dinning, would like to participate Princess Prizes just for the kick, throwing in photos and reserved seating, the package seal the deal for us since we are going with our 2 children.

However, this is our first Princess cruise. So I am also unclear if there is any overlapping of benefits. But since I have paid for it, I am hoping the answer is no at least for Diamond. 😅

  4. Based on what I read, Diamond seems to be offering a slightly different drink menu due to its being home port in Japan.

I am concern about the wine offering since there is no Vines onboard. When I googled, Diamond seems to offer some Japanese rice wine. Hope this is true.

Will be very grateful if anyone can share a recent drinks menu for Diamond Princess?

    Thanks.

    ……… sorry me again.

I cancelled the May 2020 cruise yesterday. I was told the FCC would take 2 - 7 days but it is still in my cruise planner and I have had no confirmation that it has been cancelled.

    Would this be normal?

    Many thanks

I am told that the FCC will be allocated to each guests the amount written on the invoice. So you need to refer to the invoice or request for one.

The guests need not sail together as the FCC is applied individually.

Not sure if the FCC can be applied onto an existing booking. You might need to call. But problem is different operators telling me different things. That’s the frustration. That’s why I come here for info.

Not so sure about when can we see the FCC reflected as I haven’t cancelled yet.

You can cancel 3rd and 4th guests up to 15 days prior to sailing and receive a full refund for their fares.  This applies equally to refundable and non refundable deposits.  Note that if this changes you from a quad room to a double occupancy then Royal may make you change categories and it would be repriced at current rates.   You could then cancel the next day under the current policy and get an FCC.

Many thanks. This helps us a lot.

We are not worry about the change in categories. We have the spacious panoramic window suite which takes 5 guests but we are allowed to book it for 4 guests in the website. I had to call RC to add the 5th guests.

Actually that raises a really good scenario.

guest 3,4 and 5 can be cancelled and receive a full refund up until the time the cruise hits the final penalty phase (15 days prior to sailing) .  You could cancel them and then a few days before the cruise get the fcc.

I would only cancel 1 or 2 guests still leaving 3 or 4 in the cabin as they may want you to move to a double occupancy cabin which just makes things even more confusing.

If I understood you correctly, no penalty for cancellation of 3rd and 4th guests even if the booking is non-refundable ? I can get full cash refund for them? Then with the new FCC policy, I will be able to cancel the whole cruise and get back as FCC?

    Thanks

  8. Hi,

I booked a cabin for 5 guests. If I am to choose FCC, how do they credit it back? Meaning if I paid $5K, each individual gets $1k as FCC? If this is the case, can I call to receive the credits under one name or at least under my family’s headcount.

I am asking because I paid for my domestic helper. She will not be able to use the credits for another cruise as she will be leaving my household to go home for retirement, and she can’t afford a cruise fare on her own as well plus there is no cruise port for her to book where she is coming from.

It doesn’t seem fair that I can penalised this way. If this is not possible, I guess it is cheaper to just cancel and lose $500 cash than to lose $1k.

Has anyone had the same issue before?

    Thanks.

Have you ever been to Florida 🤣

    We definitely have oppressive humidity

I have never been that far away from Asia. 🤭 If so, then there is a high possibility we get to see the ship set sail sometime in the future from Sgp. Sorry that you guys are disappointed but I am overjoyed. 🤭🤭 I always wanted to experience those mega ship but those long long flights are terrible for me

Really 🤔 that's around 93 degrees. Beautiful weather

It is very humid in Singapore and having lived in such hot weather consistently every day where wet sweating body is the norm, most of us don’t really appreciate it. We love indoor air condition area to escape the heat. 🤪 But I can definitely live with an open promenade deck. 🤣

  11. I am from Singapore and has been on the ship sailing out of Singapore a couple of times. Although there are plenty of locals onboard, there are also plenty of Asian from all over. And also RC seems more towards catering the ships in Singapore for our Indian tourists, therefore I would say 40% of the food are mostly Indian cuisine, 40-50% are the traditional RC food but whether does it lives up to the usual RC standard, I have no ideas but I find those are the best food onboard to eat. Hint : onboard. They tried to provide some 10-20% Chinese cuisine but in my opinion, those are the worse Chinese food I ever tasted. I didn’t do specialities but I see the standard RC offering. Most of the time these restaurants are empty.

It is a chaos at the WJ for lunch on boarding day as everyone all gathers there. Otherwise I don’t see a problem except serving on the dinning room is too slow for my liking.

I shall not comments on the passengers onboard. There are always certain behaviours we couldn’t apprehend in other cultures and likewise, they also couldn’t on ours. And there are always rude and ill-manners people around which has nothing to do with culture.
