We were seated next to table full of kids with their parents seated at the next table , about 10 kids in all.

All I can say is I had sympathy for the servers , they had no support from the parents to deal with their little darlings.

Next night we asked to be seated on the other side of dining room .

I have kids , they never acted the way these ones did . Food all over the place , yelling , screaming ... you know acting like kids .

I was more appalled at the parents than the kids .

Kids should be supervised in a dining room .

Is not the kids’ fault. Is their parents. I make sure mine behave when they are out in the public. They get it from me right away on the spot if they don’t. But most kids I met are generally alright, behaving like kids but good kids. I saw Those that scream at their top go the voice and play catch around the dinning room and climb on top of the tables and chairs, throwing food around etc.

Maybe we won't need to get up at sunrise then lol

Hey, most pple from Asia dislikes the sun, and hates being warm. We have too much heat all year long. So we don’t sit in the loungers for long if we have the choice. So if most passengers are coming from Asia, then there should be plenty of unoccupied loungers available.

    Hi, I'm from Singapore too.

Royal only does the Silver/Gold program when sailing from China. Talking to Royal Caribbean office in Singapore, they have assured me that Quantum follows the International version of the Royal Suite Class when she's based here. Also based on past experience with Ovation Home-porting in Singapore before, they have never implemented the China Suite Program here at all.

Hey, many thanks. You just make me wish Christmas will arrive soon. It simply too many months in between.

Quantum Of the Seas in Singapore will follow the normal Sea, Sky and Star Class like the rest of the Quantum Class Ship sailing around the world, so there's no Silver or Gold VIP. I'm hoping Royal introduces the Key on Quantum but I highly doubt they are going to.

Solarium will be open to all, North Star, Bumper Cars, Ifly are all free. Food in the MDR will have a mix of Asian and Western Dishes. Passenger count will be mix between Asian and Western and from all parts of the world.

You will have to check the cruise planner if they do private runs on the North Star. If not then I think you will need to email Royal on this.

You might find Quantum sailings from Singapore somewhat more "enjoyable" then those sailings round trip from China.

May I know where did you get the confirmation that sailing from Singapore in the Quantum will follow the Sea, Sky and Star class program? I am very anxious to get the confirmation as RC has upgraded me to a grand loft suite, I booked the grand suite guarantee, and I really hope to have the once a lifetime Star experience. Thanks. 🙂

Sorry.  Missed that in the original post.  Yes...that should be a SC suite and the OP should get the Genie and all of the other SC amenities.  Congratulations !

So we shall have the perks? All the perks? OMG!!! I don’t care too much about the Genie but to dine in specialty resturants and have complimentary gratuities, refreshments package or whatever it is called, is hard to believe. In Asian, there is something called the Genting Dream cruise and is well-known to give cabin upgrade to suites easily. But only cabin upgrade, doesn’t comes with the perks of the cabin. So I am still wondering how it is working for RC. This will be my 4th sailing and I never get an upgrade before. RC did called me once to ask if I were like to top up $1000sgp for a Royal suite in the Voyager of the Seas but since the perks are the same, I declined.

While it is possible they could change, it is highly improbable. Congratulations. You will have a wonderful trip.

I really hope that RC won’t be so cruel to announce the top prize and then take it away. The 4 of us are really really breathless. If they have assigned the sky loft and then later changed it back to a grand suite, I just feel upset  but since the perks are the same, sky class, not a big deal, vacation will still be wonderful. But now we are talking about the STAR class, I can’t help feeling I won the lottery. OMG!!!

@RFerrington I didn't know about the suite classes so I did a quick search. @Hop77 Are you sure you aren't confused?

What is the Royal Suite Class?

As part of the Royal Caribbean commitment to creating unforgettable vacation experiences for our guests, we have developed Royal Suite Class — Luxury That’s Anything But Boring. Royal Suite Class is an elevated onboard experience for suite guests, combining the unmatched range of innovative Royal Caribbean suite-category accommodations with superior service, exclusive access and personalization of guests’ cruise experiences. Within its three tiers — Star, Sky and Sea — this program offers exclusive access to lounges and dining venues while onboard, attentive services and additional stateroom amenities.

Royal Suite Class is available on Symphony of the SeasOasis of the SeasAllure of the SeasHarmony of the SeasAnthem of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas (Singapore and Sydney departures only)." Doesn't mention Quantum.

Thanks thanks. I did look it up too but during the travel fair held by RC Singapore, their Quantum pamphlet mentions the different royal suite class, and when my cabin was assigned, I refer to their advertised pamphlet to check if this cabin is indeed under the STAR class. I am so excited.

  8. I am so excited even though it will be nearly 300days before sailing off. It is a 5N Christmas cruise. Unknowingly, I booked and paid for GS guarantee. Only discovered it when I called to ask why I don’t see my cabin number. It has been only a mth ago that I made my ultimate decision to spend my hard earn cash on a GS, I received my room number. Guess what, they give me a Grand loft suite. I am still holding my breath. I hope that RC won’t change their mind and took it away. They will not do that right? Is it confirm mine?

Then I saw that it is a STAR class. Does this mean I am also upgraded together with the perks? From SKY to STAR??? Please tell me yes, pleaseeeee!! The perks are really extensive for STAR class.

By by the way, I will be on Quantum Of The Seas, sailing from Singapore.

  9. I am more a reader than a contributor as I only sail 2-way out of Singapore. But for this topic, I want to leave a mark 😁

We were 4 in a grand suite in VOS and my other 2 family members were in a normal cabin. But every night we order dine-in and had fun eating together. Yes, was a squeeze in the grand suite but was comforting to have the presence of the whole family. We are chinese and therefore, we are not particular about being seated together in a table. We sat everywhere, on the edge of the bed, outside the balcony, sofa etc. Walk and stand and sit around whatever. We shared food from each plate like buffet style. We never ordered 2 serving of the same food but more like a serving each from each dish so we can try more of them. Of course, my guests were considerate not to spill any food and clean it up if they did.

We did eat in the MDR on the first night but the servings was too slow that we refused to spend another 2 hours plus for dinner each night after that. We enjoyed being loud and casual so dine-in was a good option.

  10. I wondered that too - or didn't ask staff or concierge about reserved seating, etc. in the theate for example.

I did ask and the reserved seating was only available for the ice show. Ours was a 3-nites cruise. So maybe that was why I didn’t feel the suite life.

However I guess I will give the grand suite another try for the quantum as it is not often we get the chance to sail in it.

  11. Assume that you knew you were not limited to just "a free glass of wine" lots of other drinks/cocktails and refills! You could also have taken a glass of wine to dinner.

This brings me to asking should I give grand suite another try for the quantum sailing off in Asian. For the voyager, there are only 3 bottle of wines, one red, one white and one sparkling, self service during the happy hour. The red wine was great but that was all. :(

  12. A suite perk that I have not seen mentioned is breakfast in a specialty dining room (if no CK is available). I would have thought that OP had this option on Voyager. We really enjoyed sitting in a relaxed environment with table cloths and a server who brings freshly cooked food from a menu. Much better way to start the day than WJ.

We have a separate dinning room for breakfast so gettting a table is fuss free but the menu is the same as in the MDR in which all the food items can be found in the WJ. We ended up in the WJ as the kids are too restless to be waited to be serve.

  13. Thanks so much. I enjoy reading all the comments, all positives and negatives one.

We are not well to do but enough to be able to afford a 3/4/5 nites cruise once or twice a year. And is willing to spurge to get the experience.

Yes, I agree the experience is very subjective. We were aboard the voyager and there was no CK on the ship, apart from the getting a free glass of wine every evening, the food in the lounge was the same as in the WJ. Reserved seating was only available for the ice show but no one was stopping guests from helping themselves to the seat by removing the chains. No free VOOM, we have to pay for it. We did order the free room service. So I would say the priority check in, evening red wine, and the free room service were what we experience and was great but that was all. Maybe my expectation was high after what I read here.

We are planning to sail in Quantum and the price difference to sail in a junior suite and a grand suite is much much more than what we paid for when sailing in Voyager. So, if the experience will be somewhat the same like previous, I guess I will save the $$ and book a cheaper cabin. But I will be willing to pay the price if the experience will be difference. I like to feel a bit pampered during vacation, after all, we work hard for the rest of the year. Of course we like privacy and don’t really welcome a butler etc, we just want a little bit of extra, like better food, wine, priority booking. Perhaps maybe sailing off in Asian provide a different experience

  14. I had sailed before in a balcony cabin, enjoy myself throughly on the mariner. Decided to spurge on a grand suite on the voyager after reading about the wonder of suite experience.

Came back from the cruise. Was a wonderful cruise like before. However, apart from having access to the concerige lounge all day, the happy hours with red wine and fingers food was great, coffee machine was great and from having a spacious room to sleep in, I don’t really feel special or anything different from booking a balcony cabin at a far much lower pricing compared to a grand suite.

And one thing, I was feeling more suffocated at the MDR, the hard selling was bad as the waiters kept emphasising that as suite guests, we should take up this and that packages to make our experience better. We avoided going to the MDR altogether as we couldn’t really eat in peace. When we were booked as normal guests, we were left in peace to enjoy the meal, the staffs only checked in occasionally to see if everything was alright.

Reserved seating was available for the ice show only but we still need to be there super early like everyone else because it filled up fast. Seem that no one was stopping the normal guests from taking up the seats. Other shows had no reserved seating. The port we went don’t need tender boats and since we were sailing in Asia, no one liked sun bathing, there were plenty of seats around the pool which was empty. So having reserved sun deck seat was of no use.

For our next cruise for the quantum of the sea which will docked in Singapore next year end, we are considering whether to just go with the balcony or pay more than double for the grand suite again. We like the happy hour service provide in the suite lounge but is it worth paying double? Any advise?

    Thanks

  15. I went for my first RC cruise this Feb on the mariner of the seas. Before embankment, I read about poor food quality and brace myself for it. However, I love what was being offered at the buffet and the promenade cafe, the soft serve and hot dogs at the pool side were lovely as well. I don't find anything amiss. I only went to the MDR once and I dislike it as I find waiting to be serve is a waste of time plus almost what was being offered on the MDR can be found in the buffet. Of course, since I am from Asian and food offered on the cruise ship is usually not what we eat day to day. I am from a socially more humble background, those food are considered as luxury diet. With the price I am paying, I have nothing to complain about. Nothing at all. I guess I am different.

  16. Congrats on your first cruise. I started that way at 12 years old on a 3 day Florida to Nassau cruise. It hooked me and my parents instantly. My parents cruised every year for 47 years till they got too old. They literally saw the world. I got my friends to go twice after high school. The bug came back when a friend had a group going to Alaska 8 years ago and I haven't looked back.:D

What cruise are you booked for and what ship?

    Dan

I am from Singapore so it is limiting. For the Feb cruise which I am sailing off with my beloved sister, will be on the Mariner, 3 nights to Penang. For the June school holidays, will be on the Voyages, 3 nights to Port Klang. I selected the Grand Suite since price difference is not that much as I want the suite perks to maximum the experience on the ship as it is not easy to queue for shows and tables etc with 2 kids as it will be a full ship due to the holidays.

Then I saw there is a 5 nights cruise to Bangkok on the voyages as well for Jan 2019. It is great as my sister and I were talking for a long time to make a trip there. So with the WOW sale, I make a booking on the US website.

After that I guess no more crusie booking for a while. 😬

  17. Welcome to your new addiction. I always say, 'Hi, I'm a cruise addict and I don't want to be cured.' It's gotten so bad that now I say, 'Im always on a cruise. Just some of these land excursions are to dang long!'.

Hope you love it as much as we all do.

    Erika

Wish I can be on the cruise always but sadly time and money do not permit it. :')
