  1. Obviously most all of the initial reviews from the transatlantic crossing were pretty bad. For me, the sample size is still way too small. I have skimmed/read through 60-70 or so reviews/feedback on CC and other outlets. That's only about out of what,16,000-18,000 passengers so far? Still not much, but the good news that I see is an improving trend toward more positive reviews compared to the negative. I know, the poor reviews are still there and that will always be the case. However, reading the long thorough reviews that highlight multiple aspects of the reviewers entire cruise show me things heading the right way for the Seaside. Lets all hope this trend continues.

  2. : $ 3,921.48 Includes $ 243.48 government fees & taxes, this is what I just got for the 2/17/18 sailing for 2 people in Fantastica Balcony!!!! Doesn't that sound really high?

I think that is way off. I have the MSC website quoting 1982$ for that set up.

  3. I wish that they never even called it a buffet. They should have just advertised it as the 3rd MDR that happens to serve a buffet during lunch hours. That would have changed the perception from the get go. From the images that I have seen, it looks quite nice.

  4. Does anyone know if the drinks on the menu in the above photo are available with the classic drink package. It doesn't have the * by the prices, but when they mention it excludes premium I wonder if since this menu mentions premium if they are not included?

I ask mostly becuase this menu has a Sidecar which is one of my favorites and would be my drink of choice. I will be terribly disappointed if it isn't included with the drink package we have.

So I guess prior posts sort of answered the question as guesses - has anyone actually had the classic package and ordered drinks? If not it is like $56 to upgrade to the premium package, which is what I will do.

The drinks on that menu all pretty much contain "premium" alcohol, so it is safe to assume that you will need the deluxe package for those. We went ahead and upgraded. I figure that in the big picture that 56$ to not have to worry about it is worth it. PLUS... I like the idea of being able to use the minibar in my room at no extra charge.

  5. Yes' date=' I confirmed with MSC when we booked our Aurea balcony room that our kids would get it.

Thanks for answering. I figured as much. I am not sure who will be happier, me are the kids. They will love being able to get drinks, shakes, and ice creams while out on their own. I will love not having to shell out $$ 10 times a day.

  6. FYI - Just did a quote for MSC Seaside

Cool, Thats right in line with what we got. The two teens were a 100$ deal each. We totaled out to just over 3200$. The next closest matching package we found for our date/area was the Carnival Glory at 4800$.

Im very happy with what we have. :D

  7. Hi, I have read about every available discussion thread about the Seaside here. It was reportedly free initially (sorry, you'll have to read through the threads to get specific sources) but now it's not, except perhaps for YC passengers. Does it really matter whether it was once free?

The prices stated are almost correct. However, it's not buy 60, get 100 but buy 100 get 160. Otherwise, 10 bucks per go on whatever - except for bowling. This I got from a review posted on the board instead of reviews.

I know it's tedious but I recommend reading as many discussions as you can - there is some misinformation and some nonsensical posts but generally you get a whole lot of information that way.

What I am looking for is confirmed statement or documentation from MSC that during the time frame that I booked my cruise on the seaside that the zipline was included at no extra charge. I am unable to find any such documentation myself.

I realize that it was free for the first sailing or two, I get that. I understand the assumption that it is included since it was not listed specifically as a charge, but you know what they say about assuming. If we were to find documentation that it was free for my cruise, we could use that to hold MSC accountable. I feel that no such actual information exist though, other than "reporting" on cruise forums.

  8. Thanks for clarification. Big difference of $825/person compared to $1,550/adult. What is date of cruise?

    Spring break. March 31st.

The last thing that I ever want is for my kids to grow up, but when they do, it will be really nice to price out cruises without being confined to school holiday.

  9. What is price per person and date? No way 4 adults going for $825 each. Kids may be free.

    Thanks!

You got it. two teenage girls were 100$ each. That was the deal when we booked about 6 months age.

  10. As I said... Saying it´s a culture in Europe to eat late would be as wrong as saying it´s a culture in America. Both in Europe and America there are countries who tend to eat late because of the higher temperatures during the day. In other countries in Europe or America people prefer to eat early.

I agree. Definitely part of some cultures in Europe to eat late. I have also ran into Americans that prefer to eat late just like people in some European countries.

  11. My price quotes are based on specific sailing dates (school age kids) and I am matching all inclusions.

Seaside- Aurea Balcony includes 2 massages + deluxe drink package for 4 people = 3300$

    Anthem - Balcony + 2 massages + drink packages for 4 people = 5950$

All that being said, if the Anthem was closer to only maybe 600-800$ more, I would have strongly considered that cruise.

  12. My fare was $1258 (per person) for a 12 day sailing on a balcony cabin on the Anthem (after all taxes) and received a $175 cabin credit. This was for last January.

That's about $100 a day. Isn't that about what MSC is charging? Im seeing $889 for the 3rd class balcony experience on Seaside for 7 days. That's $127 a day, before the final taxes and fees.

It seems like MSC is attempting to charge more for less.

  13. Formula 1 is $10

    XD cinema is $10

    Billiard is $10

    Bowling is $25 / $45

    Spend 60 you get 100

    Spend 70 get 30

    Spend 50 get 15

    Spend 25 get 5

Zipline is $10 per ride or $50 unlimited for all passengers on the same cabin. But I do not know if you can use the same offers above for the zipline, I honestly don´t think so as the zip line was initially free and was not considered withing the arcade packages.

Could you help some of us out? You note that "the zipline was initially free". Could you post the advertisement or document that states that. I cannot find anything that states the zipline as specifically being free.

  14. From what I have heard, they do the whole table cloth and table set thing just like the MDRs.

I wish MSC from the get go would have just started out by not calling the marketplace a buffet. They should have advertised it as the Marketplace restaurant as a third MDR that happens to serve a buffet for lunch as a buffet overflow. That would change perception for the positive.
