  1. Good idea on the snacks on port days! I will have to check into the app Thank you

And yes! GF snacks (esp crackers, cookies, pre-packaged hummus, etc.) were great both for port days, and for bringing up by the pool. My partner would get something to nosh from WJ, and I could order a drink and have something to snack on myself.

  2. Same deal as what others have said. I was diagnosed 2 years ago, and last year was my first cruise with it (I am also vegetarian, making it more complicated). Definitely email the special needs department to let them know that it is Celiac, not just GF. I was told NOT to eat in the WJ, except on embarkation, when people brought fresh stuff out from the back for me, due to cross contamination issues. That being said, we ate most meals in the MDR with absolutely no issues except the first night when they weren't prepared, and one meal at Sabor's where they brought out special chips for me that weren't in a shared fryer, and made up special GF veggie tacos. I also printed out a few pieces of paper that were very clear that I could not have wheat, barley, rye, farrow, whiskey, malted vinegar, etc., but that rice, corn, veggies, fruit, etc., were fine, just for some of the folks that didn't speak Engish as well. Am super sensitive and didn't get sick the whole trip. We were on Liberty, and I was even able to safely eat the GF pizza at Sorento's and the Udi's GF cookies at Cafe Promenade.

  3. No if you have a wheelchair they will let you sit inside just let them know and someone will go through the drill with you while you sit down.

And even if you don't have a wheelchair, if you check in and explain you have a disability/impairment and have trouble standing, they should direct you inside to an area to sit. I didn't realize this till my last cruise and it was a game changer!

  4. My daughter who is now 13 was diagnosed with celiac when she was 7 and we cruise every year. She has never one felt like there wasn't enough food. A little tip, we always bring along gluten free ice cream cones.

This is a brilliant idea! Where do you find GF ice cream cones? I have never seen them?

  5. I am a vegetarian with Celiac disease (diagnosed 2 years ago) and was so nervous to cruise again with less options, especially since I am sensitive to cross contamination.

However, it was amazing! There were some language barriers, but once we got settled after the first day, we were set. They have GF pasta in MDR, GF bread if you especially ask for it, lots of items are already GF (but ALWAYS check, because they had something labeled GF that had farro in it, and had a salad not labeled that was offered to me and I didn't get sick, etc.). Do not eat in the Windjammer if you can help it; my waiters told me the GF food on the line wasn't safe, it it alwywas took 30+ minutes to get food taken from the back/made for me there. I only ate in WJ when we were in port and the MDR was closed. That said, Sorrentos will make GF (CC safe) pizza slices for you, Cafe Promenade has pre-wrapped Udi's chocolate chip cookies if you ask (they may have to go down to the kitchen for you to get them, but they will do so!), and the ability to ask for most things to be made GF (with enough advanced notice) was really nice. Happy to answer anymore questions you might have.
