Now that's tempting, but I don't know that it will sway us one way or another.  We aren't yet where we can travel enough to really make an impact as we don't choose just cruise vacations but building both cruise and air may be of interest!

    Interesting...

Those videos remind me of the Cirq type weird performances with the gauzy curtains that they tried in the forward lounges on M class that went over like a lead balloon.

Maybe they've worked out most of the bugs? Folks laughed at the idea of the telephone, but you keep improving it and persevering. Is this the final product? Maybe - Maybe not. Some day folks won't be able to imagine cruising without these types of characters making unique interactive experiences.

  3. Folks, I've been critical peeping into what Celebrity has to offer for awhile now. Maybe I just have the benefit of this all being new so I'm not attached to the old styles. The newest ship design looks good - nice and upscale from the photos. Alot of the the reviews and live threads are coming in positive. Seems like a kneejerk reaction to dismiss it so quickly just because it's different.

    1. So some folks are not into the new verandas. I can see that there are other rooms available, plus cruises into more winter climates it might be a benefit to have your room closed off to stormy and freezing weather anyways.

    2. The Magic Carpet could be fun.  What would everyone do on that side of the ship if it wasn't there anyways?  It is too open - but the verandas are too closed off... Celebrity can't win.

    3. Someone said that the Eden restaurant was full of Fairies and Cavemen. It's hard to tell without being there - but Cindy and I would at least give it a try. There's probably more than meets the eye to the mythos to it all that folks aren't going to understand or feel by just passing through.

Here's the skinny: give it time. Disneyland opened with lots of problems and complaints, but it's still there now.

Two of the best A2 cabins on deck 9 are 9038 and 9043 because they have larger angled balconies; however they are below the Solarium and sometimes have a little noise from towel carts or the rearranging of deck chairs in the early morning.

Folks that sounds like my kind of space if I had to pick a cabin.

  5. I want to take Cindy out on a cruise next December, but on a newish ship. Which one would you experienced folks choose?

Oceania Rivera 7 Days Dec 15

    $1,599 Balcony

Celebrity Edge 7 Days Dec 15

    $1,659 Balcony

It looks early but not all folks are liking the Edge and not all the bells and whistles included on Oceania.  Nancyshaw warned me last summer that Oceania was becoming a better deal but I couldn't see it - plus I don't usually dressing up eat fancy critters in upscale restaurants. Reviews are now 1.5 vs 4 out of 5. Maybe she was right?

  6. If Sir Richard won't let everyone drop by on the inaugural cruise, I have a farm outside of Kansas City, MO with a cave that can be set up as a conference room.  It used to be an old Halloween Haunted House by the old owners so it wouldn't take too much tweaking to get the proper lighting and seating for folks.

  7. For those interested, here is the link to purchase the Princess luxury bed .

    https://shop.princessluxurybed.com/catalog/product/view/id/1004/s/princess-luxury-bed-select/category/229/

I hunted down a bed from a luxury hotel chain, paid about a thousand more than princess and have NEVER regretted one night of the fabulous sleep I get. I love my bed.

If you loved it, buy it.

I've not cruised yet but this is a great gift idea for Cindy. Much appreciated.

  8. We have cruised Princess, Celebrity, among other lines... we are big burger people... on long cruises we sometimes order a burger from Room Service on Princess... felt they were very good, with a salad, enjoy on our balcony. Have order the burger in the MDR menu also a good choice. I am more of a fan of Princess than Celebrity, even though we are elite on both lines. Like Princess more because more responsive to menu special requests than Celebrity.

This is good news. Cindy isn't as into burgers as much and I like gourmet if I have a choice. The MDR sounds like the best of both worlds. I try to eat healthy too so maybe save that for lunch. Healthy-ish. :D

  9. I'm eyeballing a cruise for Cindy next year (hopefully) - didn't work out in 2018 because we had to move unexpectedly. One of the guys staying with us talked up Carnival's Guy's Burgers - but my dad has tried Princess and Celebrity. What's the best way to spoil deer sweet Cindy - and who has the best burgers at sea?

  10. Don't pay any attention to the haters. You're the Man.

Most of the folks on here have been rocking it with Uncle Doug - especially when the thread moves along and we get into more of the details like here.

Fogfog I agree 100% (y). That is about where we're at too looking at the different cruise options and value sailing.

  11. There in lies the issue- what is the value of free perks - I don't see the value of the cruise being inflated by $300 to offer me free wifi when I use my holidays for a digital detox. My wife doesn't drink so sees little value in heavily inflated price that offers free drinks - the perks are worth the value you put on them not what Celebrity puts on them

That's why the Spring Break folks end up getting the most value and just about end up sailing for free.

  12. We have recently returned from Reflection and each time we went to Blu we were seated straight away, although we did not eat there every night we were given a seat in the same area when we did. We usually go for dinner between 8 pm and 8.30 pm.

Good to know. Better to stick to eating a later lunch if we can.
