  1. One night in the MDR they will have peanut butter ice cream. That with the chocolate cake is 'da bomb!!

Speaking of ice cream - we didn't have this on Carnival. Just self serve

  2. How does (Blu) compare to what? Luminae? The MDR? The Specialty Restaurants? There are multitudes of threads on these very subjects, very current. Just do a search and you will have plenty of reading.

And your question is confusing - if you're going to cancel your balcony (regular, not Aqua I presume?) and go with a Suite, you will have nothing to do with Blu. Blu is for AQ, Luminae is for suites, MDR is for everything else.

We're in a balcony and folks have been showing me tempting picture of Luminae. It is double price compared to our balcony but still affordable. Aqua isn't much more $ so if the two restaurants are close - maybe I'm better off trying Blu instead.

  3. The comedy shows suck big time. Same old jokes....Cruiser stereotypes, insulting old cruisers, fat people eatng at the buffet. You hear them once, you don’t need to hear them again. It’s usually the same old, same old. I usually skip the comedy shows anyway. After 30 cruises on Celebrity it is my opinion Celebrity entertainment in general has gone downhill. (n)(n)

    Happy cruising. :)

That's too bad. Carnival's comedy club (and Guy's Burgers) is about the only thing I'm going to miss moving to more upscale cruise lines. It is even not as funny as it used to be so no biggie.

  4. I'm really surprised that no one has mentioned the Crepes Ballon (sp?) Rouge in Murano prepared tableside. YUMMMMM!!! Sadly there is no more Ocean Liners/Murano on the M class ships.

I think we're on one of the older ships ourselves. If we get spoiled and like Celebrity then I'll have to take Cindy on one of the new ships. Deserts prepared tableside she'll love.

  5. I have been eating two or three Creme Brulee's every night I'm on Celebrity for almost 25 years.

Creme Brulee is always been my backup when I get tired of chocolate cakes and pie. ;)

  6. We generally skip dessert in the MDR - I find the majority of them to be disappointing.

We instead head over to Café Bacio and indulge there. Nothing like an after dinner Americano and a lovely piece of whatever cake catches our fancy (or mousse, or éclair, or sometimes even a cookie or two).

This looks pretty darn good! Are Café Bacio on all ships? We're on the Summit.

  7. No deserts on X but they do have a lawn. 🤗

Haha - Just wait until they change it up or add a zen garden.

I'm going to go ahead and try Luminae. Cindy deserves it after her disappointing first cruise. We didn't like the Carnival Vista and are ready to move on to a more upscale experience.

Dessert in Luminae, similar but better than the lava cake.

    Happy cruising

Wow - That looks delicious and I bet neat to see. The Luminae isn't that expensive on our cruise.

  9. Cindy and I have our next cruise booked on the Infinity and I usually eat my share of desserts on a cruise - more than at home like most of us. For years I usually favored Carnival's Warm Chocolate Melting Cake and the self serve ice cream. Don't have a favorite yet on Royal Caribbean yet but Johnny Rockets had a killer milkshake. Their chocolate lava cake wasn't bad.

What's not to miss on Celebrity? What's worth walking up a few extra flights of stairs to burn those calories for?

PS Sorry folks, the title should be "Desserts on X". Desert is where we go to Aruba for

  10. Doug and Cindy, enjoy the cruise. We also decided to try another Line after researching good loyalty levels. Part of life is to enjoy change. And like you, I started a bit ambivalent on taking the new cruise line, but now excited.

We are also taking one of those 3-day Carnival cruises out of LA with our kids. They can’t get off long enough to try a longer cruise so going on this, and I’m looking forward to this. There isn’t a bad cruise.....we are at sea, with family and friends and enjoying a get away.

    Den

Enjoy your cruise too Den. I've been on Imagination out of LA - basically the same ship. Guy's Burgers is where it's at for lunch. There's also a great taco place if you make it out to La Bufadora in Encinada.

  11. He's booked on the brand new Horizon, so I hope it's not falling apart! LOL

Haha, let's hope not. The Triumph and the Sunshine are having more of the problems. They already changed the Destiny into the Sunshine and pretended that it was a new ship. The Triumph looks like it is next on the list.

  12. This also looks delicious. I'm not that adventurous with different foods, but I still like high quality.

  13. No he didn’t take the picture, it’s my original picture I posted on another thread......I thought it turned out pretty good so I thought I’d stop by and take the credit.....Jo Ann

Those photos make it tempting to surprise Cindy with an upgrade. The 6 day cruise is $449 for a balcony and $1199 for a suite.

  14. You can get a burger for $15 at the Lawn Club Grill. This venue is only on a couple of ships. I view burgers on board the same as pizza. If I want a good one, I have it before I go on board. The steaks are really good as are the lamb dishes.

That's true I'm sure it won't be hard to find that kind of food in NJ and we might visit Poconos PA before the cruise anyways. Cindy talked me into asking more about this cruise line when I started this thread, but I'm warming up to the idea of giving Celebrity a shot. I like burgers and pizza just as much as the next guy, but steaks are where it is at!

  15. If you want a good burger, wait until you get to a port and look for the Golden Arches.

Seriously, the best food is usually found in the Specialty Restaurants on the ship. Lamb, ribs and steak are very good.

Since we're only paying $500 for a balcony I'm sure we can swing that. Get the full experience and range of this line before we get to take a break in St. Thomas and head straight for the Golden Arches, haha. :p

  16. I plan out our Vegas trips in some detail (to squeeze as much as possible into a few short days). Two trips in a row were centered around highly rated/reviewed burger places - and there were plenty to sample!

My favorite of all time was at Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill (Caesars). It was one of those "singing angel" moments. The sad thing is, upon two return trips - I found I couldn't step into the same river twice -- both repeats were actually sub-par, one barely edible (burnt).... oh well, it will just live on in my memories!

There are definitely good burger options in Las Vegas! Did you see the $777 Burger at Le Burger Brasserie inside Paris? I had a normal burger there and it wasn't bad, but they've got some crazy deserts.

  17. hubofhockey... Good call on the steak sandwich. I've done the exact same. However, OP wasn't asking for a great steak sandwich. Now you've let cow out of the bag.

Lawn Club on Celebrity Reflection did offer a lunch or two where they featured gourmet hamburgers for a $15 or so upcharge. We did not try them.

No this is good conversation, I love me some steak sandwiches too. Ham & Cheese melts, Pastrami, Ribs, Corn on the Cob, Chili, Tritip, Philly Cheese Steak, Taters, Pizza, spicy chicken. We've been eating more salads and PB&J sandwiches of late, but when I'm on vacation that's the time to hold back. :p

  18. I'll be on the Equinox this Saturday - and they have one of the better burgers at sea in the Gastrobar.

First off, other than tasty Guy's Burger Joint on Carnival, if a place won't cook it rare it's for the most part off of my list of contenders.

Gastrobar Burger: Fairly plain/simple, just darn GOOD ! Aged Cheddar, Caramelized Onion Relish, Tomato Marmalade, Brioche Bun

I don't say this often, but this one was just a tad rarer than I'd prefer. Nonetheless, I made it disappear !!!

Now you are talking my language Tom!
