  1. Makes sense. RCCL will come up with a solution, because if these boards are a barometer there's a lot of complaining going on in the post-cruise surveys.

Once you've sailed on the Carnival Vista, like we made the mistake of doing a couple months ago, all these supposed RCCL issues seem like much to do about nothing.

  2. Just sailed on Liberty of the Seas on July 3, 2016. As a Diamond Plus member, I was disappointed to hear about the loss of a Concierge Club benefit on ships that now have Suite Lounges., but I had read about the change prior to the cruise.

However, my bigger disappointment is the loss of an exclusive Departure Lounge & No Priority Disembarkation for Diamond Plus & Diamond tiers. On the Liberty of the Seas, all Crown & Anchor members are now lumped together for departure.

As someone who has only sailed Royal once, this obviously doesn't affect me yet. I'd rather view it not that someone else lost a benefit, but that I've gained benefits. We're all in the VIP disembarkation line now. :ship:

  3. Food not edible in MDR and OVC. Poor service, poor entertainment, aging ship.

Food was so salty people with high blood pressure were told by the Medical facility to stop eating in MDR. A waiter off the record told us that it is salted for a reason, to make it more palatable.

Folks talk up this Celebrity line like it's hot tickets, but at the end of the day we've never experienced this on Carnival or Royal Caribbean. Medical staff and waiters warning peeps to stay away.

  4. I have never sailed on Carnival or Royal Caribbean but after 6 cruises with Princess I received an NCL cabin comp offer from a local casino and decided to try this line out. I chose a NYC to Bermuda cruise on the at the time brand new NCL Breakaway. The Breakaway is a beautiful huge ship with many similar features as the RCL ships, but honestly I did not feel like I was on a ship or a cruise for that matter but more like being on a floating upscale hotel. Call me sentimental but I missed the grand piazza that is on all Princess ships, the champagne waterfall on formal night, afternoon tea, art auctions, etc. If you like the big wow vibe of RCL than you will probably not enjoy Princess. But if you are looking for elegantly beautiful cruise ships that provide great service, food, wonderful and multiple pools, and great access to the views of the ocean you will probably enjoy sailing on Princess.

Thanks for all the advice. DW really likes what you folks have to say and some of the videos online. I will probably like some of this too, but a part of me will always like the big ships that RCL and NCL have to offer. Sometimes it does feel like a fancy but busy hotel, and an elegant ship viewing the sea, might be nice. We're done being loyal to one line, so why not enjoy it all? :):ship::champagne-toast:

  5. We've only sailed Royal Caribbean after many Carnival Cruises. After our last Cruise on the Vista we're headed back to RCL to try Harmony of the Seas. I like Guy's Burgers and the comedy club better on Carnival, and my wife thinks the food is more tasty in the dining room too. Too many things are going down hill though, and we like the WOW factor better on RCL.

The wife thinks we should try Princess and MSC too. Some of the reviews talk about cutbacks, and there's post here about diapers in the hallways, hamburger patties instead of steaks, and bad pizza by the pool. Is Princess cutting back too, or should we give them a try?

    I think I get it...

I don't think so because not everyone agrees. Can someone add a poll on here? I bet the consensus is that we're suppose to follow the law and let other folks enjoy the sand. The islanders aren't coming to your house to pick all your flowers so do them the same favor.

  7. Truth be told, if you are reasonably happy now with a cruise that costs $500 per week for two people, there is probably never going to be a magic moment when you suddenly consider Oceania to be ''worth it", short of winning the lottery. Different products appeal to different people........that is the glory of Capitalism ;p

We're working out way up there by sailing Royal Caribbean now, but I won't pay more than $500 per week per person. Then there's all the taxes and port feels and tips, brings it up a notch. See you in 25 years, maybe! :p:beer-mug:(yn):ship:

  9. I guess I will have to start planning my beach day around which beaches have showers. Maybe they should setup hazmat tents for us to decontaminate before boarding.

You don't need my help figuring this out do you? If you want to return to the ship head to toe covered in sand, just tell the gangway staff that you've never been to the beach before, and didn't know what else to do. ;p

  10. Wow...

Our last O cruise was a month ago. We travel 3-4 times per year and I'm well aware that costs are going up everywhere, but when it gets way upward of $500 a night it gives me pause. $500 a night when it includes air and wonderful meals is very doable. Way over that and we may be cutting back. I guess I'm too frugal for my own good:rolleyes:

Sent from my iPad using Forums

$500 a night, in a mega suite or what? No thanks I'll take my inside cabin for $500 for the entire week. Seeing what the skinny is on Oceania and what folks are hyped about, but this will have to wait. (yn):beer-mug::ship:

  11. I spend a week in Cabo, come back and y'all are still at each others throats here. LOL

Did you go to Cabo on a Fun Ship? If not you don't have much to add to this conversation. I sail on both Carnival and RCL and don't like all this infighting when we're all just after a nice vacation. Then we get elitists from Seaborn or wherever here to stir the pot.

  12. When you're bringing it back through U.S. Customs, yes, U.S. laws tend to matter.

You can't scrape the Colosseum with a selfie stick in Italy, but I guess if you want a little debris souvenir in a jar go for it. US Law is all that matters.

When in Rome, AND the Caribbean, follow the local laws! The islanders don't deserve any less respect.

  13. Folks, there are peeps stuck in the middle east and other tough living deserts. They've got sand in their eyeballs and hair and other crevasses, I'm sure. Why not buy some of their sands where there's plenty of it? I'm sure they would LOVE the privilege of taking a cruise and being spoiled onboard, but you folks on these ships are dreaming about sand. The grass is always greener I guess...

  14. The port of Rotterdam was recently expanded by 2,000 hectares ( about 5,000 acres.) This area was created from sand dredged out of the sea.

In have been there and seen it - absolutely amazing. I never ran into anyone who thought the sand would have been better off in the sea, or that it was in limited supply.

What if someone wanted to bring back a bottle of seawater? Would you complain that it if everyone did that we would run short of sea water? Probably somebody here would. All good fun!

Lowering the water would raise the islands, wouldn't it? More souvenir sand! :p

  15. We should care about both tho

I know and I wouldn't do either. Not my tree, not my limb, and not my eggs. Buy a souvenir in the gift shops to help the locals and stop being so cheap. Some folks are so entitled, and then blame it on corporations like we're children. "He did it first."

  16. It's not thing thou to go to someone else country and just take from and destroy the natural resources. But hey that is what you people do, such a Hugh since of entitlement SMH

I agree just because greedy corporations destroy resources, doesn't mean we should help chip in. Let's go into the woods and take a limb with a nest on it. Who cares there are logging companies doing worse!
