  1. We recently cruised as solo cruisers. We experienced the same thing......single cruise points. When we called and pointed out error, they applied our points. However, they seemed to do another audit of our accounts and took points away going back to 2005 and 2007. They said we were given too many cruise points in the conversion because we were given credits for a suite. We can't proove what we had going back that far. Now we keep our cards. So I lost 23 points.:(

  2. I have also had the same experience as the OP. I've had a couple cuts of Filet from Chops that I really didn't believe it was a filet. Very tough, and strange texture.

I always order mine "Blue". Which should be cold center, lightly cooked outside.

They usually deliver it burnt on the outside and medium rare on the inside even though I tell them just pull it out of the fridge, touch it to the grill and send it out.

  3. The Jewel currently has Gustavo. He's pretty entertaining. Has a pretty long playlist. As long as you shoot out requests he will play, if not, he will go take a break.

Previously on the Jewel was Chuck Perry. He never seems to enjoy performing. He complains and takes long breaks because he is expected to work 3 hours a day. The Jewel would let him take one night off per week because he complained that he was overworked. He could be fun if he wanted.

Kelly Goodrich is on or heading to the Enchantment. We've always loved him. Great entertainer. He seems to have fun doing his shows. If the bar is crowded and people are having fun with him, he will play until 2-3 in the am.

  4. They do not have a childrens menu. I'm not sure if they will allow you to bring food in from the MDR for him/her to eat. They will not order it for you. If you child eats from the Chops menu, you will be charged the full 30.00.

You may want to speak to the Chops Manager on whatever ship you are gong on. A lot of times, they have told us that the Head Chef has a lot of control and will not allow outside food in their area. We've asked if we could get Cheesecake for desert from MDR and have been told no on some ships and yes on others.

  5. Always getting emails for cheap cruises on Poesia......what did you think of it? Nice to see a real picture!

Kathy, we were in port the other day with the MSC Poesia. It is one of there newer ships. It was docked next to the Carnival Legend which is about the same size as the Jewel. The MSC looked quite a bit wider than the Legend. Our friends parents were on the MSC and really enjoyed it.

  6. Hmmm, I'm not making excuses for Diego but I always thought that your C&A amenities should be taken care of by the Loyalty Ambassador. Someone please tell me... Am I misinformed here?

    Teri

Yes, you are correct. We were being lazy and trying to avoid having to schedule an appointment, or sit and wait until people were done booking cruises. We thought the Concierge could just wave his magic want and make our flowers appear.

Apparently he can't, but the Portifino's Manager can......

  7. Kathy......it was great seeing you and Dennis on the Jewel again.

This was my first time meeting Diego. I have mixed feelings on him as a Concierge. We asked him if he could help trouble shoot why we didn't get any of our ammenities that we have set up on our profile. We never change our requests and have always received our roses and wine. He gave us every answer he could come up with why we didn't get anything which made it sound like we did something wrong. When we logged into the RCCL website and showed him that our profile is set up with these items he still didn't get it. He dismissed us and we never got our ammenities.

The boys mentioned it to Kumar (portifinos manager) on the 3rd day and Kumar was upset that it was never handled. Next thing I know, he took care of it and our flowers showed up in our suite. I'm not too sure why the Portifinos manager could fix the issue and he couldn't.

  8. We had a GS on the Jewel recently. One of the additional perks that I loved was morning breakfast in Chops. Breakfast was made to order and you could also get a New York Strip Steak. It was wonderful!

The concierge lounge is open 24 hours. You can get coffee, tea, hot cocoa. From 5-8:30 PM there is basically a full bar you can choose from. You can also get cans of soda. They usually have some hot appetizers, fruit, cheeses, veggies, etc.

If you don't feel like going to the dining room for dinner, you have access to the full menu in your cabin.

The room is great!!! Enjoy yourself!

  9. Just off the Monarch........yes, I know, they don't have a concierge.

However, we have gone on the Jewel many times since it's arrival in Tampa. Nedere has been wonderful each time!

It was my girlfriends birthday while on the Monarch. Nedere (from the JOS) actually sent a birthday card and cake for the Monarch staff to deliver. It was great, and that one gesture really made us feel that the crew are just as much our family!!

  10. We found a rather large, (and by large I mean HUGE) bikini in a drawer. The woman who owned that bathing suit had absolutely NO inhibitions!

    LOL....maybe it was mine......

Funny thing is at the beginning of our cruise in November, we accidentally went into the wrong stateroom. Easy enough to do because they have all the doors propped open around 1:00 day of boarding. Dummy, us, didn't look that the room number and walked in and unloaded our carry on's.

Well a few hours later when we got back before muster, our keys didn't work. Our room stewart let us in and to our surprise we found somoeone else's luggage. OMG.....we laughed and tried to hurry and grab our carry on items and get to our correct room.

Well we had already put my bathing suit up where the safe if kept and forgot to get it. The weather was never nice enough on the trip that I was able to put the suit on, so I didn't notice it gone......until I got home.
