Thank you all for your helpful replies! We are thinking of a December cruise in 2021. I so miss planning and looking forward to cruising again. By then we hope all will be well. No special itinerary this time. We see very little sun in Pennsylvania in December, so sunshine, reading and a relaxing getaway is all we need. Maybe a beach : ) Although we enjoy an occasional cocktail or glass of wine, we are not big drinkers and we prefer to arrange our own air. We have always wanted to try Oceania and are currently looking at Riviera veranda suite. Any advise is welcome!

Hello
We have sailed many times on other lines. We are thinking about trying Oceania for a Caribbean cruise next year. What should a first time guest know? Which class ship would be a good choice? We have traveled on larger ships and book veranda rooms. Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

Sorry, I really don't remember. Maybe 20 minutes.

We loved the Andersen!
-
Looking at my credit card receipt I see I paid $63.85 to travel from The Andersen hotel to the port where our Serenade of the Seas was docked. The hotel called the taxi and it was very convenient for the 5 of us with 5 large suitcases. I was told the taxis are metered. I must say I was expecting it to be about $50, but considering we only needed one vehicle, I was satisfied.

Glad to help! We loved the Andersen. Beautiful and bountiful breakfast : ) After breakfast we walked to the canal and had our tour, since we didn't have time the day before. We only stayed one night.
We told the staff at the hotel what time we wanted to leave for the terminal and they had a van type taxi ready for the 5 of us. So nice.
We sailed with Royal Caribbean and it was the smoothest embarkation ever.

We arrived in in CPH from JFK and after getting our luggage we immediately went to the exit for a taxi. We said there were 5 of us plus luggage and he directed us to a spot where a van came over in just a few minutes. Very easy. I thought the van to our hotel (The Andersen) would cost more than a standard car. We paid with a credit card and it was the equivalant of $50. We were pleased.

Can you pay a corkage fee and then have it in the dining room?

Thank you all for your replies. I really appreciate the feedback!

My carrier for my iPhone is ATT.. They offer a phone plan for $60 for land use while on our Baltic cruise (under 30 days) . It includes Russia. Has anyone used this plan or do you have suggestions. Unlimited texts, 1 GB and 35 cents per minute for calls are offered. Thank you for any input!

Thank you both for helping me with my questions regarding HOHO buses!
It doesn't mention two cruise terminal pick-ups on Stromma's web site. I will have to check that out.
-
Thank you for all the information! I was wondering how often the HOHO bus runs. If the first bus at the cruise port fills, how long do we wait for the next bus? Is there a dedicated spot to wait in line for the HOHO bus? We arrive for our day in June.

I am thinking about taking the train from CPH into the city since our hotel is close to the train station, but concerned about carrying my large suit case. I am looking for reviews of this service. Thank you!
-
Thank you! I will do that. 10 am would be much better. We will be there in June.

If you are not to tired the first day then its a good idea to maybe get dinner in Tivoli (or Tivoli Food Hall) around 19:00 or 20:00.
Then after dinner you can enjoy Tivoli as it gets darker and all the lights will be ok display.
But remember if it's a Friday then there will be a huge concert in Tivoli, we have that each Friday.
Your hotel is not long away from the town hall square where most walking tour starts.
So if there is one early enough on the Saturday then its probably a good idea to do that early on Saturday.
Then return to your hotel and get a taxi from there.
The canal tour can be combined with a walk a long Strøget, One if the longest pedestrian Streets in the world.
You can walk from your hotel walk a long Strøget.
When you come to Højbro Plads you turn left a little bit until you reach Rundetårn (the round tower).
Then you walk back to Strøget, continue to Kongens Nytorv and Nyhavn from where the canal tours departs.
Then after that head back a long Strøget to Tivoli.
If the new metro line is open at that time you can take the metro back if you don't want to walk anymore. 🙂
The metro is supposed to open in the start of July.
Thank you so much for the very helpful information. I don’t think the new metro will be open for our return to the hotel after the canal tour. Will there be a bus available to get us back instead?

There’s also a 10am start. I agree, it’s a great way to get a good feel for the center of the city, especially the day you arrive. Since we couldn’t check in to our hotel yet, it was an excellent way to spend that time.
Where is the 10am start located? Thank you

Hello. I am grateful for all the help that is provided here! I hope I am posting in the correct area : )
I am looking for suggestions because our time is so limited. We arrive CPH this summer approximately 10 am and our cruise ship departs 5pm the next day. We plan on staying at The Andersen and utilizing taxis for transportation from airport to hotel and hotel to cruise ship.
We are thinking about a walking tour, canal boat ride and Tivoli, but would appreciate any recommendations and when to do them. Thank you.

I am also cruising there and I thank you very much for your reply!

I was not the OP, but I want to thank you for your responses. They were very helpful to me!

We are flying on the 18th too! We haven't made the reservations with the tour company yet, but I have decided on TJ Travel. We will definitely be booking them for the Berlin tour and the 3-day St. Petersburg and Moscow tour... Haven't decided yet on Stockholm and Helsinki.. may add those on too.. Are you traveling with anyone else? We are just the two of us.. active senior citizens and really looking forward to this cruise! Looking forward to meeting you!
Hi puppymama1.
Looks like we will be flying out with you on the JFK to CPH flight! We booked comfort also. We are flying out with another couple and their teen grandson. All retired. Except the teen : ) Traveling to NYC from Pennsylvania. Now the fun planning can begin!
-
Thank you! I haven’t reserved yet. Still checking on connection times etc, but will be doing a multi city with the same company. Our cruise sails out of Copenhagen and ends in Stockholm. Thanks again.
-
Puppy mama thank you! I will feel better when our flights are booked. We will probably fly in on the 18th. We will be doing a private tour in St. Petersburg with one of those companies also. Maybe we will be on the same tour 😊 Not sure if we will try to include Moscow yet. So excited!

Is a 2 hour layover in AMS reasonable? We are traveling next June and I have never traveled those airports before. Thank you.

We are booked on RC Serenade of the Seas 6/20/19 Baltic cruise. Already booked our airfare too.. Trying to decide between Alla Tours and TJ Travel and will most likely book them for the St. Petersburg/Moscow 3 day tour, along with the Berlin tour and maybe Stockholm and Helsinki too. Anyone else on that sailing that might be interested in the Moscow trip? I'm not sure, but I don't think the tour guide accompanies you on the train ride... which makes me a little bit nervous considering we won't have official visas since we are on a tour... It would make me feel better if I knew there would be some more tourists on the train with us!
Hello We are booked on this sailing also. Do you mind me asking from where are you flying and which plane company you picked? I am in the process of looking at plane fares from NYC. Thank you
Extended balconies on the Riviera
in Oceania Cruises

The TA just recommended a room with an extended balcony. Do you like them or should I keep a regular balcony? Are they covered enough from the elements? Are there lounge chairs on them or on all balconies? Thank you!
