  1. Trying to read thru close to 6000 posts about the ROYAL Princess on a closed thread and not able to find any posting about the*obstructed view* balconies on the Emerald deck.

Can anyone help me see and understand how bad the obstruction is ???

  2. Driver + car = very comfortable and excellent tour! The drivers know where to go and how to get there quickly. There is so much to see in Rome, we even had a tour guide for the Vatican which in our opinion [now that we have done it] is a must!! Saved us a lot of time, she knew exactly where to go and her knowledge was amazing. Enjoy Rome, it is such a beautiful city. Hope to one day go back and see it all over again!

    Happy Cruising,

  3. Hopefully you can get 2 - 4 more ppl to join you, because if RIL is really booked up [which they often are in Rome] they will give you a Mercedes sedan so 3 in the back and one in the front with the driver. Not very comfy for 4 ppl. If you have more ppl you will get a van. Our friends had a sedan for 4 of them and it wasn't as comfy a ride as it could have been. Just saying......

  4. Loved your review :) of RIL.

We have booked 2 private cars [just DH and I] for our upcoming Med cruise, Florence and Rome. We DID NOT get a discount for booking 2x. I did email Jany and ask her about this and her reasoning was that bc there was only 2 of us [although we r still paying the same $$ as if for 8 ppl $450 per car] we would not be able to get it. I am really not sure why, maybe you have to book 3 tours with them? I also have a tour guide booked [again just for the 2 of us] for the Vatican in Rome.

So pleased to read so many positive comments about RIL.

    Can hardly wait !

  5. We are going with RomeInLimo to Rome. We were told what time to buy the Vatican tickets for. The drivers will drop you off. It is up to you to arrange for a Vatican guide is you so choose.

RIL is providing a guide for us [for a fee of course ;] and yes, we did purchase our tickets for the assigned time for the Vatican. I have read many many comments that it is better to have a guide, so we are doing exactly that :D

  6. Actually I see this as an advantage. If you are too trigger happy and eat your batteries in the middle of an excursion you can easily grab a pack of alkaline batteries anywhere (I know $$$ but it's worth it when you are capturing once in a lifetime memories) and keep shooting. You actually did it better because you had a pack with you as backup. When I purchase a camera I always try to find the ones that use AA batteries. I used rechargeables in my cruise and charged them every day like you did. My camera uses 4 AA batteries and a single set lasted for the entire day even after 500+ pictures. I had two sets of batteries so when I got back to the ship I exchanged the batteries with the other set then recharged the ones I used that day. I brought one of those 15-minute chargers with me.

Reminds me of our first ever stop in Aruba, I was trigger happy and kept shooting and shooting - finally the bus stopped at that natural bridge & my batteries were done :( And of course, no back ups with me. Sad for me,,,,,so we had to go back on another cruise and capture those photos again ;););)

  7. Ok, so I have now created two tours through RIL for Rome and Livorno. I did manage to have one tour (with a different company) organised for Naples, so I will be able to compare the two when we get back.

Fingers crossed we can proceed - currently just the two of us which we will need to cancel if we dont get some others to join.

Never been to Europe, but from what I have read and if I had to choose one, I would go with the Rome tour :) JMO

  8. You said Rome in Limo offered a discount if you booked a Limo in more than one city. I could not find anything on their website that said anything about.

I'm not sure if it says it on the website but they do have a deal where if you book 3 or more tours with them they will take 50 euros off each tours total price. Ask jany about it when you make the reservation.

I am going to jump in here :)

You will only get a discount if your tour has 3 or more ppl. and you book 2 or more tours with them ;) We have just booked with RIL - so far 2 'private' tours [just the 2 of us] and no discount. Just been emailing back and forth with Jany about this exact topic.

    Just thought I'd share :p

  9. Awesome review,,,,,thank you !!!

Just spent 2 1/2 hours reading it, couldn't stop. Loved every minute. Your photos were absolutely amazing.

We will be on the BREEZE in Sept and I am a bit worried about how port intensive this cruise will be for us. We r used to the relaxing caribbean cruises

My DH was born in Italy and came to Canada when he was 6yrs old, so this cruise is a dream come true for him, since he has never been back. We have 5 stops in Italy alone. Have already booked with RIL, we have decided to really spoil ourselves and are taking a *private* tour {just the 2 of us} in Rome and Livorno. Have not booked our other ports as yet, but after reading your review has helped a lot in my planning thoughts.

Wishing you both a wonderful first ♥anniversary♥. My DH and I will be celebrating our 36th and this will be our first trip to Europe. A trip of a lifetime for us both.

Looking forward to more of your reviews.

  10. Everything sounds absolutely perfect! I plan on emailing them this week. Do you have any recommendations of names of drivers or tour ppl that maybe I can request ?

Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH for all your information!

  11. Thank you so much for the responses :) I have read nothing but good things about RIL. Just one more question: Did you have to purchase any admission tickets in advance [ie. online?] or was that done for you by the driver or tour guide ? Want to be clear about *everything* Also, did u pay in cash or travellers cheques? Not sure we want to be carrying around a lot of cash! Thanx again ! ! !

  12. Has anyone used RIL for 2 ppl in a private car? I am wondering how this has worked out. Do u feel that a guide is required in the Vatican for only 2 ppls ?? Any comments, positive or negative would be greatly appreciated :)

  13. **I've remembered something I read on the boards about not being allowed to wear flip-flops in Manhattans dining room, not even the expensive toning ones or even sparkly ones**.

    WHAT ? ? ? ? R U serious ? ? ? :rolleys: I don't even bring closed toe shoes on cruises,,,,,,,u mean no sandals ? ? ? I am confused  I sure hope that is not the case :o

    Please confirm

  14. I'd be happy to email this to you, epicbride. It's bits that I have cut and pasted from posts all over the boards which pertain to my entire trip including my forthcoming 2 night stay at the Intercontinental hotel, the back to back cruise (studio cabin) and some port information.

    Carol
