  1. You have some great cruises planned! (and the denali part as well!)
  2. I'm doing Montreal to Boston - May 4-11. I did the same itinerary on the Zaandam in 2019 and have been waiting to repeat that itinerary! By the way - you're from the Bay Area? I lived there for years and miss it!
  3. Thanks for the photos! I'll be on the ship in 11 days. Elemis - was there both shampoo and conditioner? (I was on another cruiseline last year and they only had a body wash and then a combo shampoo/conditioner - so I brought my own.) Can't wait to hear more about your trip!
  4. On my last cruise, I took my book to breakfast in the buffet area, set down my book and water glass on a table for two that was near an empty table for four. To my surprise, I returned to find an entire family seated at the table for fouro and then the seat across from me. I *should have* excused myself and found another table for myself, but I felt like I should be polite and stayed. The entire family acted as if I was joining their table instead of them taking over my table 🙂 We did make conversation - I would stay silent sometimes, listening to them, and sometimes they'd include me in the conversation. They were a very nice family - and I kept running into them around the ship! They really wanted to make sure I was okay. I'm not much of a morning person so staring out at the water, reading my book, and enjoying my coffee is the best way for me to wake up without words! I'll be on a cruise in a few weeks and will need to remember to protect that alone time at breakfast 🙂
  5. I just got back from a cruise starting in copenhagen - with stops in Denmark and Norway. Someone mentioned only a few hours in port but we had two full days in Oslo with hours in the other ports (like all day)! I had a day in copenhagen at the start and end of the cruise... plenty of time. If you are in those two countries, English is spoken everywhere (although most people spoke their language to me first, then switched to English). I had help figuring out the trains at first then it was easy to figure out on my own. Worth it to explore Europe. I can't wait to go back! I hope you get the chance to explore Europe!
  6. It's no fun when people mess with your things! For that reason, I bring a book on every cruise and put it in my bag I carry around with me. I pick up a water or coffee, leave it on my table with my book, and no one has ever removed my belongings or taken the table. On one cruise, a charming woman from the UK called me Book Girl whenever she saw me because we sat in the same section frequently and she'd see me reading around the ship.
