  1. We were on the week before and was very disappointed with the food in the dining room , poor choices and not the best cuts of meat...I ate more fish than meat because of this. The portions were tiny and one night we had a small dollop of mashed potatoes and discovered the vegetables underneath which consisted of three flat beans. The prawns were a joke...I use bigger shrimps in a shrimp cocktail. The first night we ordered a cappuccino but it arrived after we ate our dessert, so that was the last time we ordered one. The food in the Windjammer was slop in my opinion. I was on this ship in 2010 and all the food was so much better.

I had a feeling the quality of food would go down when the Specialty Dining options became poplar.

  2. Judge much?????? You have no idea why people take the elevator. Everyone has the right to take an elevator, it is not up to you to decide if they are fit and healthy enough.

I have to agree, since when are elevators for only the disabled. And btw I also have a disability that is not visible. I do try to take the stairs as often as I can because the exercise will do me good. The times I do use the elevator, I never wonder why anyone is using the elevator as it isn't my business, But when I do, I notice many rude people and not necessarily only fit people, I've had my foot rolled over a few times by wheelchairs, stepped on and also bumped into, most are sorry but some have no apology. What gets my goat is when the door opens and people rush in before letting people off.

  3. But formal is not a dress code, it is a suggestion. The actual dress code is no shorts, no sleeveless shirts, no flip flop shoes...they seem to have difficulty enforcing that! So I don't think you'll have any luck with them enforcing a suggestion :(

    As per RCI website:

    Life Onboard

Q: What are the dress codes onboard?

    A:

    Onboard Dress Code

Smart Casual: Ladies: Skirt or pants (no holes, rips or tears) with a blouse. Gentlemen: Pants (no holes, rips or tears) with a collared shirt.

Formal: Ladies: Cocktail dress or pantsuit. Gentlemen: Suit (black tie is optional)

Note: Swimsuits, robes, bare feet, tank tops, baseball caps and pool wear are not allowed in the main restaurants or specialty restaurants. T-shirts, shorts and flip-flops are acceptable for lunch.

Note: Smart Casual is allowed on Boarding Day at The Grande Restaurant (should only be included where we are speaking about The Grande)

  4. We sail on Sunday from Baltimore on Carnival & were advised via official email today the Freeport is now open for business & our planned stop at Freeport in 11/11/16 is on schedule. Hope this info helps. We were planning on a ship sponsored excursion to Lucas Resort, but their website has the resort still "offline & not accepting reservations"- so I guess that's off the table for now.

Thanks for the info. Someone from my roll call just said it was going to be open for cruise ships next week, our day there will be the 16th. I just hope Freeport isn't a big mess. Have a great cruise!

  5. The notification from Royal Caribbean is copied below:

"Hello, this is Royal Caribbean International. We would like to provide you with important information regarding your upcoming sailing.

We will no longer allow Samsung Galaxy Note 7 cell phones onboard our ships. This decision was made in light of recent incidents and safety concerns raised by Samsung about this particular device, as well as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recent ban of the phone from all airplanes. We ask that guests who own a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 not bring the device on your cruise.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation, and looking forward to welcoming you aboard. "

  6. It's sad to hear that, being my cruise is 10 days away. We haven't cruised in a few years but when I was on the Gradeur in 2010, the food seemed better than Princess, although the menu on Princess was getting old to us.

When Specialty dining first started, I resisted as I thought it was ridiculous that we should pay for food when there was good food included in the cruise fare. Once they got us all hooked on Specialty dining, the food quality in the MDR took a nose dive and the Specialty dining fees went up. We kinda did it to ourselves.

I told my wife on our next cruise, we will only be eating in the MDR and if the food sucks, I will complain til they bring me something that I am satisfied with. I am really so tired of all the nickel and diming and for that reson we cruise less. I went as far as buying a Vacation home that we frequent quite often and we eat out...alot :D

  7. They weren't going to Freeport. Cococay was their last port before returning to Baltimore on Monday morning. This cruise was scheduled for Charleston, Port Canaveral, Miami, Nassau and CocoCay.

ohh okay..Our Nov 12th cruise is supposed to but I heard that Freeport wasn't opened for cruise ships and they seem to be leaving us in the dark

  8. so it seems that you should never pay your last payment till the last possible moment according to this. seems after they have all your money your basically screwed.

I always use an online TA and I always wait til the last minute to pay that final payment. I look at as a sport...I check the price everyday, sometimes twice a day and I always at least get one drop in price, with my next cruise, it dropped twice. After final payment, I never look again. I think of that final payment the same as any other financial plan, you are locked in at the best price. I can say I never got screwed ....as I never look after that final payment is made.

  9. I also have been searched many times. Some security personnel are polite and some seem rude although, they may just take their job very seriously. The first few times, I did feel embarrassed but now I take it in stride. I suggest you put it all behind you and try to think of only the good parts of your cruise. I do hope you enjoyed the rest of your cruise and didn't let it eat at you during the whole cruise.

  10. Did you try this email address: xplora@rccl.com? That's the one for the Meet & Mingle people.

I sent out the email, maybe I will hear something, thanks for the email address:)

I have always found when we book through a large online TA as a group booking I cannot register until our final payment is paid.

    Sherri:)

It was through a large online TA...maybe that is the problem, although I have gone through them before and never had a problem

  11. I've never had a problem before, but my next cruise on Anthem in April, I am unable to register. I got the error message also. I wrote to the "Meet and Mingle " help desk (for lack of a better term) and cited my problem and was sent back an email asking " what was your problem". I took a screenshot and sent it back. Now mind you, I have over three hundred days until sailing, but this is hurting the "brand ". If you figure out a solution, I'm all ears. So, in short, you are not alone. Sorry.

I too never had a problem before and I will let you know how to remedy it as soon as I know.

  12. Don't loose any sleep over it.

They are nothing worth writing home about. You do get the odd good one where the group clicks but your cruise won't be spoilt by not having one or attending one.

I hear ya, I am hoping for that good one, I have had a few good ones, met some good people

Did you book with a travel agent? If they have a group booking, they spread the deposits so they are able to hole a bunch of cabins... I am usually not able to register until after full deposits are made to my cruise (this is after the agency has released some of the held cabins and apply the full deposit to your individual booking).

I did book with a TA and I did think that was the issue but someone on my roll call said she did too and had no problem

  13. Never had a problem. Maybe your booking is pending?

That's what I thought but my cruise is listed on their site and she said it is a valid booking

I didn't have any trouble registering with RCI but Celebrity took 3 weeks and many attempts. Got the same message too. I think it must be the CC to cruise line connection that isn't working, since it has happened with 2 lines now.

Keep trying and you will eventually get in!

    Good luck

    ML

I will keep trying for sure :)

  14. I tried to register for the Meet and Mingle and when I put in my info, I got a message 'Only purchased reservations can register for Meet & Mingle party.' So last week I sent an email to RCI and so far...no response. I figured I'd call RCI and inquire, well the representative never even heard of a Meet and Mingle:rolleyes: I talked her through the steps of getting to the right web page and she inputted my info only to get the same message I got. So she tells me,gee I don't know what to tell you but thanks for teaching me about the Meet and Mingle. I didnt get mad:mad:, all I said was I'll wait for a reply from my email. Has anyone else had a problem registering?
