Holding the cruise line responsible for bad weather is sorta harsh?

Gallows humor - perhaps a bit dated now but not for those of us who lived through it.

The Sensation was sailing out of NOLA at that time and it was just after Katrina

Blaming the cruise lines for the weather is one of those old canards on Cruise Critic.

Posted this in our roll call nearly a week ago - not the most active RC I've been on so I thought I'd try here:

Just booked the Dawn for January 8th (drink package made the difference - otherwise we'd be back on the Dream) and have a few questions. As you can see we haven't been on NCL much so almost newbies. I was on the Dawn last fall but it was short, before the drydock, and I was upgraded to a suite so it was quite a different experience. Hoping for some more recent info.

- Is lunch served anywhere besides at the Lido buffet on embarkation day? (for NO extra charge)

- How does the drink package work - is there a sticker on your card, is your card a different color, or do you sign a slip for $0, or what?

- Is there a drink equivalent to Carnival's Funship Special?

- Is there a waiting period between drinks using the drink package or can you order one and then another?

- Is there still a lobster night in the MDR (included)?

- I recall that when I was on her last fall the Bamboo reminded me of a chop suey place in an old gas station - is this still the case or was it improved with the dry dock ala Asian Fusion?

- Is there Goofy Golf?

- Is there a steamroom for the public or is there an extra charge?

- Anyone know where we will dock in Coz? My guess is Puerto Longosta (downtown) but my usual sources have been unclear so far

I can't recall my S&S card ever being swiped for an upcharge on any NCL cruise for a hot dog order.

Works ok

A cheap clip on LED booklite clipped on to the top of the shelf to one side of the sink worked a whole lot better though. Batteries good for 2 weeks.

All cruise line food has the calories removed before serving. Many desserts (especially the chocolate melting cake) actually have negative calories - the more you eat the more you lose. :p

We use it at least once per cruise, unless we're on Oasis class. Don't like the golf balls on those ships.

Had that exact cabin for a B2B. Loved it. Even booked the same cabin on the Conquest some years later because we loved it so much.

Hasn't anyone been on the Dream recently?

Could someone please tell me who is the current captain of the Dream?

On my recent Dawn cruise NCL changed our cabin the day before sailing without asking, no notification, and NO compensation. We had a lovely OK (Obstructed OV) cabin and they moved us to a stern Penthouse Suite with wrap around balcony. At least we were on the same deck...

Ye it's offered - but for a fee. I teach yoga 2 days a week and have checked out the classes quite a few times. I would nt have bothered with most of them if they were free. Most of the "instructors" seemed to be aerobics teachers who might have read a magazine article once...

I'm afraid I have no memory at all of some of my shorter cruises - not sure why... :p

I'm going on the Elation in November for my first cruise ever. My husband and I love to sing. Do they have karaoke on this ship?

One other question, do you think I can take what I call a noise machine with me? It's one of those small (6" round) machines that plays different sounds to help mask any sounds in a strange place while you're sleeping.

Not at all. I remember seeing folks as young as their mid 60's...

I like the hats and my wife would love a tumbler. We have some of the tote bags we'd be happy to trade...

We have a 6 yr old who is learning to swim. Are those arm floaters/ rings and swim jackets allowed in the pool.

A jacket is fine but DO NOT use those arm rings - They not only will not protect your child, they are extremely dangerous - they are much more likely to drown your child (by holding the arms above the head, thereby pushing the face below the surface) than to "protect" them. Before folks jump on me, I'm a Red Cross LGI/Aquatic Director/Swim Instructor etc.

John Heald posted on his FB page that the next round of ship dances will be announced on Wednesday (Sept 23).

In fact, he ended his post with something like "Yaallll..."

Never seen him talk "Suthin" before - and the timeframe for the announcement about Mobile was "near the end of September".
