  1. We were in a similar situation. Our Spirit 23 August cruise was cancelled last week. We should have made final payment the week before, but I held off as didn't what to give them more money. The deposit was  £100 each. I received the FCC notification this morning, it's for £100+£25 each. Obviously if I had made finial payment, I would have got £1,500 total fare plus 25% £375, total £1875 each. Depends if you likely to cruise again within the timeframe permitted or prefer not to pay up and just angle for your deposit back in cash.

We have two sailings booked for Celebrity next year so no room to book anything further with NCL till at least 2022.

  2. Just read this on a Google feed:

Spanish cruise operator Pullmantur Cruises, which is partly owned by Royal Caribbean Cruises, has filed for reorganization under Spanish insolvency laws, Royal Caribbean Cruises said Monday.

Royal Caribbean Cruises owns 49% of the three-ship company, which caters to Spanish speaking vacationers from Spain and Latin America.

“Despite the great progress the company made to achieve a turnaround in 2019 and its huge engagement and best efforts of its dedicated employees, the headwinds caused by the pandemic are too strong for Pullmantur to overcome without a reorganization,” Pullmantur’s board of directors said in a statement.

In announcing the restructuring, Royal Caribbean Cruises said Pullmantur management notified employees of the decision after filings were made with Spanish authorities.

For now, Pullmantur has canceled all sailings through Nov. 15. Royal Caribbean Cruises said passengers booked on affected sailings would be offered the option to sail on ships operated by other Royal Caribbean Cruises brands.

Royal Caribbean Cruises is the parent company of its namesake Royal Caribbean brand as well as Celebrity Cruises and Azamara. It also is a part owner of German brand TUI Cruises through a joint venture.

While Pullmantur is little known to most Americans, its three ships are well-known to cruise fans. They include the former Celebrity Cruises ship Celebrity Horizon and former Royal Caribbean vessels Monarch of the Seas and Sovereign of the Seas. The ships have sailed for Pullmantur under the names Horizon, Monarch and Sovereign.

Hope that this isn't a trend!

Yes they certainly do.   Being interline your fare is low-  but you may be ineligible for any bonus?    In my opinion-  being a nonrev also I’d just cancel today-  IF you booked under Interline?    Frankly-  these fared  haven’t been any deal compared to late booking and the ability to use Cruise Next.

No, I didn't book an Interline rate, I rarely do, as you still have to buy your drinks package ect. I just wait till I see a good deal direct, your can't generally beat it!  If I only get

125% of the £200 deposit, I won't rebook for September as the price is 150% more than what I paid. If I got 125% if the total cost, I might consider it. I should have paid the final balance yesterday, but I am not prepared to give them my money and wait three months to get it back.

  4. I have a cruise booked on the Spirit out of Athens on the 23rd August. Payment is due today and keep getting email reminders.  I agree with all the above, I think there is zero chance of this now going ahead, although as an airline employee, I see from my Interline website that they have just released dates for staff to book numerous NCL cruses from 1st September.    Although I am not happy to give them any more money, question is, if I don't make final payment, as the cruise has not as yet been cancelled, am I in breach of contact and they can rightfully keep my deposit?

  5. I have just spoken to NCL. They were happy to take payment of final balance over the phone.  They said they are working on their website today...changes to itineraries etc and that's why there is an issued online.  They said that cruises in August are still on sale.

  6. I had paid a £200 deposit on a Spirit Athens trip 23rd August.  Final payment is due, but I now get the error message as per the above.  I presume if they cancel I will get the £200 back to the credit card....eventually.  What if anything is offered by way of FCC, is it just 125% of the £200 already paid or 125% of the total cost of the cruise?  It is just a shame that unlike Celebrity, who have a 'Lift and Shift' policy, which means you can switch to the same itinerary, same class on ship, retaining the original price and perks for a future date.

Take the refund, there will be good deals later.

I ended up switching to an Eclipse sailing.  They have already allocated me an excellent inside cabin and the invoice has already been adjusted and updated in the account, within two hours of calling Celebrity.  I had only paid £600 each for me and my DH; including CDP and USD300 OBC so wasn't looking to even take the 125% FCC. I don't think I could even replicate that deal, so more than happy with the outcome.

Just realized that the reason we really didn't want to Lift and Shift our September 2020 Caribbean to a September 2021 Caribbean,

We already have a Celebrity Alaska Cruise booked for August 2021 ! 😀

I have just lifted and shifted two bookings. I had an Alaska cruise that has just been cancelled for this July and I have moved it to July 2021....had to change from the Millennium to the Eclipse ie Vancouver to Vancouver as no inside cabins left on Millie for the whole of July/Aug 2021.  Also moved our April 2021 to the following April 2022 Cycle Japan cruise,  as not enough holiday leave to do two long-haul trips in one year. Very happy with the result, kept the price, perks and although we had originally an inside guarantee, they allocated us two very nice cabins straight away.  Called less than two hours ago and just received both of the new invoices and price updated in the account already. Excellent service, cant thank them enough!

  9. I have just called Celebrity to do a Life & Shift for our cancelled Millennium July 2020 cruise and there are NO inside cabins available through the whole of July and August in either direction.

Any advise please?  Celebrity said I would have to go for an outside at the current price offered on a Sale only, which is about £700 pp more expensive and  I would be loosing my CBP and OBC, I think not!

If I am right in thinking, I only have until mid June to arrange my Lift & Shift?

Check the FAQ.  I'm pretty sure that if you take the FCC you can then later lift&shift up to August 1.  If you decide later you can't lift&shift  and you want a refund you can ask for a refund at least until 12/31/2020.   Study the FAQ's as many of these details are spread across the various answers.

Lot's of people are doing Lift & Shift so the earlier you do it the better cabin availability will be.

    Thank you!

  11. Not surprising that we got the notification this morning from Celebrity, that our Alaska sailing for the 2nd July had been cancelled.  Question is, can I still do a Lift & Shift and if so can I delay the decision until nearer the deadline of 4 August?  Our current deal was £650 pp price including drinks and OBC for an inside.  Based on 2021 current prices, seems a bargain.  If I take a FCC, am I ever likely to get a deal like I had ever again?

My dilemma is based on that we only come off an Asia trip at the end of April 2021 and I would need to do a Lift and Shift between 2nd June and 2nd August 2021 time-frame. Holidays from work are nearly impossible to get during the school holiday window, end of July through August.  Alton of long haul expense within a short time frame and user up nearly all my annual leave.

Unfortunately next years Alaska cruises are already through the roof.  Several thousand dollars more than I'm paying now.  At least  the 125% FFC will take out some of the sting.

You would be better doing the Lift and Shift?

I am still waiting for my FCC from 3/15 Eclipse sailing, cancelled 3/14, and refund of my beverage pkg, Internet pkg, anc excursions. Also waiting for refund of cancelled excursions from 8/16 Summit . I am beyond frustrated.

Did you book direct with Celebrity or through a TA?  We cancelled the 15th March Eclipse sailing 48 hours before.  We received our 100% FCC within 45 days and the taxes and cabin upgrade amount back to the card within four weeks.  Have you queried it with them?

For those of you that have applied for the 125% FCC; how long did it take for you to receive the certificate number.
We are anxiously awaiting a reply so that we can apply our March 15, 2020 (pd in full) cancelled cruise to another booking.
    Thank you.

We cancelled under CWC two days before the 15th March Eclipse sailing. We received the 100% FCC within 45 days and the taxes back to the card within four weeks.  The voucher numbers came on an email.  It might be worth searching in you history under Future Cruise Credit, just in case its dropped into spam or trash, if not, I would give them a call.

Hello,  wondering if anyone who’s moved their cruise under the new CWC was in a GTY cabin? That’s what we booked and we had been assigned  our cabin, but when I look at comparable cruises for 2021 there are no GTY cabins, also our cruise when we booked came with airfares included, reading the T’s and C’s it doesn’t look like that perk is included, again has anyone any experience on this - thanks

Yes, moved my April 2021 Asia cruise. Was originally purchased as a Guarantee and a good cabin had been allocated already.  Lifted and Shifted yesterday to April 2022 and they offered to switched me and kept the same cabin, as was available on the new sale date. Really happy with the switch.
