  1. "Another time, my wife was told to "Shut up, girl!" by a woman reading, when she was talking to someone else by the pool. "

I found this interesting because on my recent Equinox cruise, I was talking to a gentleman sitting across from me in the Solarium. A young woman came in and laid down on the lounger next to the man. A few minutes later, she "shushed" us. I guess we didn't "shush" enough for her because she grabbed her stuff, gave us a dirty look and stomped away. Is there some etiquette about talking by the pool? I can see not talking alot in the spa or Persian Garden, but the pool?

Regarding the OP, I think that rudeness knows no age, gender or ethnicity. We've all probably been treated rudely on land, sea and air. The only way to avoid it is to never leave your house!

  3. Does anybody know if the hump balconies on the new Equinox also have that X film? From the photo it looks like they may have avoided it .

I think I saw a thread a day or two ago that said that Equinox did not have the "X" covering the balconies. Sure hope it stays that way.

  4. Here is a listing of cabins affected by the X on the side of Solstice. I can't find the link to the pdf doc. We had originally booked 7178, I believe it was and after reading comments and seeing pictures, we booked a different cabin on deck 8. I've read that some people didn't have a problem with the obstruction but I was glad I changed my cabin.

  5. Deck - Vista

    Cabin # - 8166

    Class – 2A

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – balcony

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Not connecting. Some noise from adjoining cabins -- phone ringing, conversations. Creaking noises also but I think that the noise is from the leather couch rubbing against the wall.

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Nice view. Since this is the first cabin aft of the mini hump, your view forward is restricted but it's not that bothersome. You are able to see into the balcony of the next forward cabin when standing at the railing though.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal

    Was wind a problem? No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? None.

Any other comments? Storage wasn't a problem. Close to the elevators.

  6. I guess it's just a matter of taste and possibly how tall you are also but I did not like the fact that I could not stand or sit on my balcony and see the water. Plus, there was a hatch on the canopy directly in front of my balcony. The first port day, while my husband and I were sitting on the balcony looking at the white canopy instead of the water :-), a maintenance guy popped out of the hatch and proceeded to walk down the canopy to work on the window washing equipment, I assume. He gave us a big grin and a wave. We never felt comfortable after that leaving our balcony door unlocked or drapes open while we were in the cabin and not at sea. When we booked our Radiance cruise for this past spring, we made sure we were not anywhere near deck 7. I would never pay good money again for what I consider an obstructed view.
