  1. We cruised a couple years ago to Cozumel and Grand Cayman and they sold Tortuga Rum. I cannot find it in the US. This summer we will be cruising to Aruba, Grand Turk and Curacao. Do you know if any of these ports sell Tortuga Rum?

  2. I can’t say for sure this time, but my wife and I were on a cruise 4 years ago for the last World Cup. Carnival could only show games while in US waters and US ports. For Sea Days and foreign port days they didn’t have the international broadcast rights so they couldn’t show the games.

Last time around they were shown on ESPN...I’m hoping with the new TV rights (Fox) they’ll be shown...But I’ve gotten conflicting answers as to whether or not the Sunshine has Fox, FS1 & Telemundo.

  3. Do not listen to those who say it doesn’t sell out. We did it 2 years ago with our kids and we loved it!! We tried to do it last year but waited too long and we were told there was no space available. (This was on day 4/5 of 7) It CAN sell out, but it MIGHT not. We won’t risk it this year; we’ll book it day 1/2.

  4. Roatan ....... check out this company. You don't pay until you arrive in Roatan. http://www.boddentours.com/index.htm

I cannot recommend Victor Bodden Tours enough! f I told you it was the best excursion ever, I’d still be understating it! Our private tour guide drove us around the island showing us all sorts of cool things. We got to see parts of the island that 99% of the ships never sees. (The single outdoor jail cell in front of the soccer stadium is a cool sight!) He took us to the local grocery store and we bought some local treats that were delicious (coffee, sodas, snacks...stuff you can’t buy anywhere else).

Then he took us to their office where we got to walk through their animal exhibits. They have many, many monkeys, toucans, parrots, deer, sloths, and other indigenous species. We even got to go into the cage with the capuchin monkeys and play with them as the jumper on and off our bodies.

After that we ziplined on their property. I believe their zip line course consists of 12 runs. It was awesome to fly above the jungle.

Then we went to Tabyana Beach where the water was so calm and clear it was like swimming in a pool. The spot he took us to was in front of a hotel so we had food/beverage service the whole time. Our driver also found us some almond fruit that was growing nearby and brought us some to try!

On our way back to the shop we saw many more sights and did a little shopping.

It’s been a few years since we did this excursion, but I believe we only paid around $350 for everything! (There were 4 of us.)

  5. We will be in Aruba from 1:00-11:00. We are thinking. About spending the afternoon at Reflexions. However, we’d also like to do some shopping (souvenir type stuff). Will those shops be open after dark, or should we do our shopping before heading to Reflexions?

Also, where are the best shopping places close to the Cruise Port/Reflexions area?

  6. Reflections on Surfside beach.

This is my review on another site,,,

From the port, a taxi to Reflection's costs $13. for 2, one way. The trip takes only about 5 minutes, as it is only a mile or two south of the port.

Our bill at Reflections totaled $60. for the following, 2 loungers and an umbrella, a lunch we ordered which consisted of a beef quesadilla for my wife, a giant hamburger and fries with 2 beers for me, and a tip.

The beef in the hamburger and in the quesadilla was outstanding. My wife said it was the best she ever had! Yep, better burger then Guy's on the ship!!

I want to state something here I rarely read, there is a shower to wash off the salt water just as you walk off the sand onto the cement towards the swim up bar.

Yes there is a pool with a swim up bar, with loungers and chairs around it, but I didn't make it there today, maybe next time.

After lunch, we sat around for about an hour, enjoying the breeze, then had our server Jenny call us a taxi, which she gladly did. The taxi arrived in less then 10 minutes, and we were headed back to the port to do some shopping before going back on the ship. I want to thank the following people at Reflections for a great beach day, ,,Jorge who answered all my emails, Brian who set us up on the beach, and took care of us there, and Jenny, who was our server in the restaurant/bar area!

They were very attentive, very good workers, and very nice.

Thanks for the reply! I looked at their website and it looks great, however I didn’t see any kids. Is this a kid-friendly establishment?

  7. We left a little earlier because we wanted to do some shopping back at the pier. There was shopping available at Mr. Sanchos, but there is a lot more at the pier.

We did the massage on the beach (awesome!!). We also did the boat snorkeling (super awesome!!!).

  8. I wish every port had a Mr. Sanchos!! For $50/person you get everything!! The drinks are good and the food is incredible. Their ceviche, guacamole & coconut shrimp are among the best I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a lot!). I did not think it was a party atmosphere. If it is, then Nachi must be super boring!

  9. I go by my middle name in everyday life, but on the cruise I am always called by my first name. The name on your booking/s&s card must match your government ID. I have spoken with customer service and they cannot change the name on your S&S Card either...Just get used to being called by your first name...It’ll take a little getting used to!
