  1. Also look under packages in the personalizer. On our last cruise on the Star I bought the "Pamper me" package that included a 50 min massage, day pass to the thermal suite, bottle of sparkling wine and chocolate covered strawberries, for $149. I thought that was a great buy and they allowed me to use the pass to the thermal suite whenever I wanted - not just the same day as the massage.

    wow, that's a great deal!

  2. How much of a gambler are you? Depending on how well the spa is doing during your cruise, the spa manager will often times create specials or treatment packages to entice folks to book times and create some business for them. Generally you see these package offers come with your daily Patter and they usually are offered on port days. If you just feel committed to giving your friend something nice, you can wait until you board and see if anything really good comes up as the days go by and then book it for them. Otherwise you can log into your Cruise Personalizer and pre-book a treatment or package.

I'm enough of a gambler and have seen some decent specials advertised while on board that I might wait and see what is offered once I'm on the cruise.

This is one reason why I was thinking about getting her on board credit as opposed to trying to book an appointment for her. I wanted her to be able to pick something that would work for her.

    Thanks!

  3. :D

I have an upcoming cruise on the Royal so I looked up the price on my cruise personalizer under "lotus spa reservations". The first price is on a 'sea day' and the second is on a "port day":

    Aroma StoneTherapy Massage (75 minutes) - $195/$176

    Bamboo Massage (50 minutes) - $159/$143

    Bamboo Massage (75 minutes) - $199/$179

    Coconut Thai Massage (75 minutes) - $155/$140

    Deep Tissue Massage (50 minutes) - $129/$116

    Deep Tissue Massage (75 minutes) - $179/$161

    Swedish Massage (50 minutes) - $119/$107

    Thai Poultice Massage (75 minutes) - $195/$176

This is fabulous and exactly what I needed. thanks so very much!

  4. A 50 minute Swedish massage will run about $119.00. Log into your personalizer, go to onboard reservations, then Lotus spa services. You will find a complete menu with pricing. It's a little cheaper to book on a port day.

Sadly when I do that, it just brings me up to book a reservation.

Happily you have given me the info I need. I want to give her the on board credits so she can pick what she wants. thanks! :D

  5. We are long time Princess cruisers, but we have never taken advantage of the Lotus Spa. We have a first time cruiser coming with us this time and we would like to give her a massage package as a welcome aboard gift. However, I don't have a clue what they run.

Could someone ballpark the cost of a massage for me?

    Thanks!

  6. As I remember it, the Bistro is only set up on some evenings, not every one.

If you do not go there each evening or check the Patter carefully, you might not even notice when it is offered.

That certain makes sense. We only ate there when we were too late for the dining room due to an excursion running way late.

    Thanks!

  7. She was our first which may be part of the reason.

And I'd love a few things she is missing. Maybe a corner of the Oanorama Buffet set up as a cafe in off hours. Last time we were on her it didn't open for dinner, but I understand that has changed.

But we love her and they can send her back down here whenever they want.

Gets into spots the others can't hope too, you get to know your fellow cruisers, towns don't feel totally overrun.

Yes, exactly! Certainly she doesn't have all the amenities of the big ships, but she can get so much closer to things.

We were on her in November 2015 and the Panorama Buffet was open for dinner - they had gotten rid of the bistro. We only ate there one and didn't miss it.

Our first was The Sky Princess and it was so special. Your first ship is always special!

  8. Not sure of the dining times on Pacific Princess. I believe they only have Traditional Dining - no Anytime Dining - but don't know what times they offer. On one of our cruises (Coral Princess) we were "confirmed" for 5:45 dining but, once we boarded, we discovered they had moved us to 5:15. It was waaaaaaaaaaay too early for us and pretty much made the afternoon tea a no-go unless we skipped dinner as the tea was so close to our scheduled dinner time. Sad because we do like to attend the tea sometimes. Just something to be aware of in case you have crazy early dining.

We've sailed on the Pacific many times - our dining choices are only 6 or 8 and we're in the early seating. Our game plan is to go on a day when we will be going to one of the specialty restaurants so we can have a later dining time.

  9. The standard tea service is still a very nice relaxing affair. Admittedly it was not attended by more than 50 or so pax. Not a really good turnout for a ship that carriers over 3000pax.

We're sailing on the Pacific, only 670 on it, so I'm sure it's a smaller number of attendees, but I'm quite looking forward to giving 'tea' a try!

  10. Yes everyday and always FREE, except for Regal/Royal/Majestic (?). The 3 new ships have the free one plus an "elegant" one.

That's great to know. We've been sailing with Princess for twenty years now and never had tea, but we have a newbie along and she asked if we could. We're on the Pacific, so it will be a fun thing to do on a sea day.

  11. Ships sailing out of China do not have the free Afternoon Tea. Since Majestic will be based there after her shakedown season in the Med this spring we may have to reserve judgement.

See the ship-by-ship listing for Afternoon Tea on page 4 of this document:

    http://www.princess.com/downloads/pdf/food-and-dining/dining-options.pdf

(Interesting that the link from post #2 shows Afternoon Tea classified by Princess as an "activity" rather than dining. But I tried to find that page under 'Activities' by my own search of the website and didn't see it either )

You answered my question as to why I couldn't find it. I was looking under food!

Thank you so much for this. We are sailing on the Pacific, so we will look forward to afternoon tea!

  12. Has anyone here ever been on this cruise line? It offers 7 and 5 day cruises around the Fijian Islands. It looks great, but I know appearances can be deceiving.

Anyone had or know someone who has taken a cruise with them?

  13. We were in Rangi in November and can recommend a trip to the Aquarium with Ugo Angley. We booked him through the ship, but you might want to call The Kia Ora (http://eu.hotelkiaora.com/b/s/hotel-kiaora.html) and see if they have a direct line to him.

You might also want to try - http://www.raiemantaclub.com/ as they also offer a snorkel trip to the Aquarium.

Another alternative would to be 'shoot the gap' but you have to be pretty strong swimmers for that, although swimming with the rays and sharks is pretty incredible.

As for beaches, the best is at Kia Ora, but they have been getting cranky with cruise visitors, so you might want to try down the coast a little.
