  1. It is always possible the ship will arrive a little early. All depends on the weather and the sea conditions. We will be on this same itinerary on 8 February. We plan on heading down to Zona Romatica on the first stay and hang at the beach for a little while and then stroll the area especially around the Los Muertas pier. Then we will start heading back to the Malecon area stopping and browsing along the Rio Cuale. We love PV and realy enjoy having 2 days there.

  2. HAL was One oft zur First to drop Matzatlan. We were on the Oosterdam when they changed course and added Mazanillo (sp?) To the itinerary.

We were on that cruise too. I wish that Manzanillo would become a regular part of the itinerary. We had visited there once before aboard the Spirit. With the new pier downtown it is easy to access the city as well as take a taxi to the resort beaches.

  3. Besides passports, driver's license, phone #s for credit card company, and copy of travel itinerary,...what else do you recommend for paperwork when taking a cruise?

Make copies of your passport and leave one with a relative or friend and bring one with you. You usually need a government issued id carried with you in port. I recommend a drivers liscense and keep the passport locked in the safe. I always bring a locking briefcase and keep a copies of our passports in it.

  4. Loved the Miracle, so easy to get around, not a huge ship by no means, The only thing i did not like those stupid grapes in the dining room. but saying that, it did not effect me one bit when it came to dining there. :D

Not a huge fan of the CD but assistant CD was great. The comedy club was small but great.

I love this class of ship, really dislike the larger mega ships

The grapes were something that have stuck with my and wife and I for 7 years. That being said it is a great vessel.

  5. We cruised on the Miracle in 2006 out of Tampa and then on the Spirit in 2009 out of San Diego. We look forward to the upgrades and are glad she is on the west coast. We were on the Splendor this past January and were not thrilled with the passenger flow and swore off Carnival. However since the Miracle is here we love this class of ship (second to the Princess Grand Class) we decided to hop onboard on 8 Feb.

  6. Do you mean that you are doing the Las Caletas excursion on the second day?

I do not see that as an option on my trip.

Since we leave Puerto Vallarta at 3 PM on the second day, I did not think it was possible.

Our cruise is Feb 8-15, 2014. On the second day in PV our Las Caletas excursion is from 745am- 215pm. It is perfect because we get lunch at Las Caletas and can enjoy snorkeling Midday. Not sure when your sailing but you might check and see if it is available. Love that we were able to book this through Carnival.

  7. Hi Everyone....

Loving revisiting this forum... was a member 2 years ago for our Caribbean cruises, and wasn't able to retrieve my login info, so I'm starting all over again. haha Rookie! :)

Anyway, I'm looking to book the Las Caletas Beach Adventure excursion through Carnival. As I understand, this trip must be booked through CCL, and it's the same price as Vallarta Adventures, so it doesn't matter to me anyway.

My question is the timing. We dock at noon; tour starts at noon. We return at 6:30PM, which is a half hour past our dining time.

Thinking maybe I should switch to anytime or late dining? But then just for 1 night, that seems silly. So we just skip MDR for one night??

Anyway... it's pricey...about $400 for the 4 of us. Is this trip worth it? Enough worth it, that we miss one night of dinner?

    Thanks for insight!!

If you want to dine on the ship I would switch to anytime dining. We prefer it to fixed seating as it gives us a little more leeway. We are doing the Las Caletas trip in Feb however it will be on our second day in PV. You might want to consider going down to the Malecon and having dinner in PV. That is our plan on the overnight.

  8. We will be on the Carnival Miracle Dec. 29 and in Cabo 2 days. We've booked excursions first thing each of these days independently. They are "private" tours so it will be just our family of 4, but we are supposed to start them soon after the ship is in port. What is the process for getting a tender? Tender tickets? If I tell them we have excursions booked do we get priority or not since we didn't book through the cruise line. How early do I need to be waiting before they hand out the tickets and do we all need to wait (hubby and boys ages 10 & 6). Any advice is appreciated!

Make sure that you understand that Cabo is 1 hr ahead of PST. Somtimes the ship will not adjust clocks in Cabo and wait till PV. At that point ships time is 1hr behind PV time. Check the daily newsletter that way you won't miss your excursions. Have fun. We head there in Feb however we are glad our 2 day port call is in PV.

  9. Hey Wendy!

The ship tour stays for only about 1 hour in San Jose. Not enough time to really see anything but the church and some stores around the plaza. The ship tour also goes to the glass factory, Cactus Museum and a restaruant with good views of the bay. The tour spends WAY too much time at the restaurant.

You can take a city bus to San Jose del Cabo for about $4-5 per person. We did that and then hired a cab back to the ship for $25. You can usually find another couple willing to share the cost. This way you can spend a lot of time there. Thats what we did on our last cruise to Cabo.

  10. We always bring our walkie talkies with us. We have never had a problem with others being on our signal. Mine allow to set it to a channel and then have it set to another setting which keeps it private between the radios. There can be challenges depending on where you are on the ship. Overall they come in very handy.
