Wondering if anyone is still waiting for their refund from Bermuda for the $40 we paid for our cruise but didn't need. It says those on the Nov. 12 NCL Joy would be refunded in 6-8 weeks. I know some have already but we haven't. I tried calling, says my call cannot be transferred. Tried emailing with no return.

    Hello,

Just got our refund 15 days ago and it was for September travel!

It will come in due time I guess….

    have a great day

  2. Hello,

if you take the stairs, ask for the far most table for diner on deck 5, eat at the buffet at outside rush hours, enter the theater after the beginning of the show and seat on upper deck further in the front where there is not a lot of people, don't attend to the social activities, find a lounge chair somewhere else than the pool deck…. You will be able to apply social distanciation.

That's what we did, and we masked at all time except outside, and eating and drinking, and….. we still got COVID on Eclipse. 🤧

    Have a great day

How did they get an outbreak with everyone being tested and not getting off the ship anywhere?

    Hello,

On our transat cruise in November, Azamara tested us at the pier, and yet, we had a positive case without stopping anywhere. They tested all the contacts to make sure no one else was impacted. Luckily, no one was, but we were only 370 pax on a capacity of 750…

So it does happen. Tests are not full proof.

    very sad in deed.

Did you indicate in the ArriveCAN app that you had visited countries other than the US?

And if so, did they ask you to do any testing either at the airport or do an at-home test?

    Thanks.

    Hello,

yes it was « before » but our transat crossing from Lisbon only had one stop US virgin island so all the immigration process was done at that time. But no, we didn't have to say where ye hang out for the last 14 days…

we also had trouble at YUL airport with the automated machine to registered our coming back to canadian land so we had to meet with a reel custom officer who asked us a bunch of question, including where we have been.  Nothing happenned… we picked up our luggages and left the airport…

    voilà!

    have a great week,

  5. Hello,

we got back on Nov 27th from FLL, by air. Azamara tested us on the ship prior to disembarkation.

    our certificate (eurofins) says:

    stateroom #

    name of ship

but gives an adress in MA, USA.

we had no trouble at the airport with air Canada nor at our arrival in Montreal.

we are planning to drive to NY to take a cruise for Xmas and back in Jan. The same day of disembarkation. Don't really want to pay 500$ cdn to get a rapid result for a PCR test since we are not staying in NY. So we will give whatever test kind result we will receive from the cruise ship and we will see. Canada might want to test us upon arrival and quarantine us at home until we get the result… we will be prepare for that. Important thing is to complete our arrivecan form.

and it might change again and again before we come back 🥴

    have a great day all,

  6. Hello all,

We will be on the Quest next week (if all goes well) and we are sooooooo happy to be back travelling that DH and I made a pact: NO complaining… Especially since I don’t have to cook, nor clean, nor make the bed and especially not work crazy hours. I just have to enjoy what comes my way. Will it be perfect? Of course not, and it will be what we can get nowadays….and we are ok with that…

@lauriebif you could elaborate on the dancing…

    have a great day

    Hello,

We also loooove transat. Also did a Transpacific from Japan to BC. Waited, and waited for something like the Gulfstream weather to kick in… it never came. We were in early may. Around 2 degree in the morning 😳 Ask some director about it, he said « where do you think we are Vana? It's freaking Siberia ». It was indeed 😂

Sticking to transat from then on 🥴

I'm Canadian and going on a transatlantic in a few months. Any Canadians cruising now? I'm wondering how do I get insurance for covid when Canada hasn't lifted the travel advisory against travel

    Hello,

got mine at Blue cross and it’s good for one year travel. I think the deal ended this week, but have a look, they do insure cruise passengers.

A Celebrity TA had to exclude all non-US residents as passengers as it's arrival date in the States was before the 8th. In your case, arriving after the 8th you are fine.

Thank you… when we saw the news today about the journalist we started freaking out but I remembered seeing something about it. Could only find something about air travelling.

    have a great evening

Thank you for quick answer. When I read the US visa news and the presidential Proclamation I thought it was only for air travelers. Here’s what REUTER says

Starting Nov. 8, the United States will admit fully vaccinated foreign air travelers from the 26 so-called Schengen countries in Europe, including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Greece, as well as Britain, Ireland, China, India, South Africa, Iran and Brazil. The unprecedented U.S. restrictions have barred non-U.S. citizens who were in those countries within the past 14 days.

happy to read that, let’s start packing 🤗

  11. Hello,

We will be on a transat in 10 days. Lisbon to Miami. Trouble is, it's only 12 nights. We read somewhere that a 14 days period applies for foreigners to enter the USA after leaving a European country?

some journalist in montreal was denied boarding a plane to Miami (from Montreal) because she returned from France 5 days before. The said she needed to wait 14 days before flying to the states.

    scary….

I'm trying to get some more infos. If you have any, let me know,

    have a great evening,

  12. Hello Mr T.

thanks for all the details and pictures. Food looks awesome.

Did you have problem getting insured before your trip. Since Canadian gov says to avoid all cruise ship travel. So our insurance co doesn't want to insure us. And what happens if you test positive before coming back? Any insurance?

We are scheduled for a Transat with Azamara in Nov. we are on the “wait and see” mode!

enjoy the rest of your vacation,

  13. This was post today on our canadian government travel page:

    Avoid all cruise ship travel

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) is recommending that Canadians avoid all cruise ship travel due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.

Cruise passengers include travellers from around the world who may be arriving from areas with known or unknown spread of COVID-19. The virus can spread quickly on board cruises due to the close contact between passengers. Older people and people with a weakened immune system or underlying medical condition are at a higher risk of developing severe disease.

Recent cruise ship outbreaks of COVID-19 indicate that a large number of individuals onboard can become infected. While the majority of affected passengers may experience mild symptoms, there have been a significant number of cases requiring hospitalization and critical care, and some deaths have been reported.

As the situation evolves, many countries are implementing policies and restrictions in order to contain the outbreak. These restrictions may impact a cruise traveller's:

    • itinerary
    • ability to disembark
    • access to health care

If an outbreak of COVID-19 occurs on your cruise ship:

    • you could be subject to quarantine procedures, on-board ship or in a foreign country
    • the range of consular services available to those on cruise ships, in particular in situations of quarantine, may be significantly restricted by local authorities
    • upon return to Canada, you will be required to remain in mandatory isolation for 14 days at a location determined by the Chief Public Health Officer as per the terms of any applicable emergency orders

The decision on Minimizing the Risk of Exposure to COVID-19 Coronavirus Disease in Canada Order (Persons Not on Government Flight) is effective from February 19 to April 30, 2020.

Canadians who choose to voyage on a cruise ship should also be aware that they may not be offered the opportunity to return to Canada on a government-organized repatriation flight, or could be responsible for the costs of repatriation travel.

Government of Canada COVID-19 information line: 1-833-784-4397.

How soon can you book another cruise if you accept Cruise Credit?

    Hello,

When we cancelled yesterday, they offered me to roll our reservation to a new one.... since there was no incentive to do so (ie OBC, etc.) we chose not to and took the FCC and 25% refund because we had more than 35 days to go. So If you want to reserve on the spot I think you could.

    have a great Sunday

Bonnie here's another question on the cruise with confidence policy.  I am hearing differing opinions on this.  If I am in the 50% cancellation window now and if I cancel will I get 50% back to my credit card and a 50% FCC?  People cancelling Celebrity seem to be getting this split rather a 100% FCC.

    Hello,

We cancelled yesterday in the 75%-25% window and had the surprise of getting 25% back on a CC and 75% on a FCC. We didn't think of that, so that was a good news...we were within 4 days of getting 100% FCC.

    Hope this helps,

  16. Hello,

We were on the April 11th cruise and we cancelled yesterday. Since we had more than 35 days to fo, we had the surprise of getting back 25% of our payment and 75% in FCC. It's something to think about.

Just to let you know, last night was the best night of sleep I had for the past month.... it was a heartbreaking decision but we are so at peace with it and moving on to something else...priceless.

    have a great day

  18. Hello,

we are suppose to stop in Sri lanka with our cruise on April 11. So now what?

Mar 03, Colombo: Due to the coronavirus risks Sri Lanka has taken steps to immediately stop allowing passengers on cruise ships arriving at the ports of the country to disembark, the Health Ministry said.

The Ministry of Health stated that the Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe has advised the relevant authorities regarding the matter.

Meanwhile, all passengers arriving in Sri Lanka from Italy, South Korea and Iran will be quarantined for 14 days, as a precautionary measure, the Ministry said.

  19. Hello,

AZ has a new travel advisory that states:

    2. There will be mandatory specialized health screenings performed on:

    • Any guest who has traveled from, to or through select countries impacted by coronavirus (COVID-19), within 15 days of boarding.
    • Guests who are uncertain about contact with individuals who have traveled from, to or through select countries impacted by coronavirus (COVID-19) within 15 days of boarding.

Canada has 15 cases as of today. Therefore is it considered as a selected country impacted by the virus? Could this be more vague? Are we going to be able to stop anywhere?

    From Cruise Law News:

“The Voyager of the Seas has 2 or 3 crew members with flu-like symptoms aboard. The Vanatu and New Caledonia islands are not permitting the ship to disembark passengers due to concerns over coronavirus. Noumea initially said that it will accept passengers and crew but a few hours ago no one was allowed to disembark after the ship which docked for a short time. It was a big mess on the ship with guests upset and security was involved with a dispute with the guest relations desk.”

So if anyone gets a cold, it might prevent a whole ship full of tourists to be able to set a foot in a port of call. Really? This is getting ridiculous... no way I’ll be travelling soooo far to get turned around because someone has a cold... so AZ please take action and tell us that we can cancel. It will be afterwards our choice to do so or not... but right now, we are in this unknown situation of what can happen while onboard. I'm really not scared of catching the Coronavirus, I just don't want to ruin my vacation and travel so far to see NOTHING!

    have a great day,

  20. Hello all,

Very puzzled...azamara and Celebrity, 2 different messages...

Here's what Azamara states on its website travel advisory:

Regardless of nationality, we will deny boarding to:

    • Any guest who has travelled from, to or through mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Iran, South Korea, and the Italian regions of Lombardy and Veneto within 15 days of boarding.
    • Any guest who has come in contact with anyone from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Iran, South Korea, and the Italian regions of Lombardy and Veneto within 15 days of boarding. The CDC characterizes contact with an individual as coming within six feet (2M) of a person.

    2. There will be mandatory specialized health screenings performed on:

    • Guests who have traveled through select countries impacted by coronavirus within 15 days of boarding.
    • Guests who are uncertain about contact with individuals who have traveled from, to or through mainland China, Hong Kong, or Macau within 15 days of boarding.
    • Guests who report feeling unwell or demonstrate any flu-like symptoms.

On Celebrity a similar note states, instead of the 1st paragraph of #2 of Azamara (instead of « selected country »:

Any guest who has travelled from, to or through Japan, Singapore, Thailand, and Italy (all regions other than Lombardy and Veneto) in the past 15 days.

So what do you think about that since Azamara will let us stay a few days in Singapore before our cruise on April 11th? This is getting very upsetting....
