Why would the cruiseline send you a reminder? You were notified of your final payment date when you booked the cruise. Any fiscally responsible adult should be able to keep track of when payments are due. That's what calendars (paper or electronic) are for. If you used a TA, they may or may not send you a reminder.

I certainly have marked it in my calendar!!!  Was just a little surprised that I didn't get any notification that's all....this being our first cruise we weren't sure how it work.

If layed back and chilled shabby chic class is to be a priority.  Then one would suggest Jacqui O's or Cecelia's.   Both well away from T'erds

What about Jolly beach??  We are considering this beach...have you ever been there? Any comments?

  3. We will be in Antigua in April.  I have most port options figured out but not sure what to do in Antigua.  We are beach lovers; so looking to do a laid-back beach day but not sure which beach to go to?  Any recommendations?  Don't mind taking a taxi but don't want to spend all day driving to get to the beach either. TIA!

Unless something unusual happens this will be fine.  It is about the time frame we had for meeting them in November.  Since it is not a tender port (normally), you will usually be able to walk off right away.

If for some reason debarkation is delayed, Cosol Tours will be aware of that and will wait, since everyone else on the tour from your ship will also be delayed.  That said, I can't remember ever having a delayed time to get off the ship in over 35 cruises, except in a few tender ports.

The ship will make an announcement when it is ok for you to disembark.  Do try to be ready.

Thanks Nebr.cruiser that's reassuring...we would definitely be ready!!  Being newbies to cruising any information we can get is helpful.

  5. Our ship only arrives in port at 8 am....the information received from Cosol Tours says that the tour meets at 8:20 and leaves at 8:30 am.  Does this give us enough time to get off the ship and meet up for the tour?  Just wondering how long it takes to be able to get off the ship as this is our first cruise.

The Cosol Tour we took on our first visit to St. Lucia years ago remains one of our favorite organized tour memories. They have the itinerary worked out to a science and you will eat, drink & be merry absolutely guaranteed. The cruise ship trade is their bread & butter so they will get you back to the ship on time, I can safely assure you.

As an added note about the quality of the operator, we had a small pocket-type camera that slid into the van seat back without,e noticing (inexpensive type used in the days before phone cameras were the norm). We didn’t notice it was missing until we were the ship cruising to the next stop & figured it was gone forever. When we got back home I emailed Cosol to inquire whether a camera had been found...not only had it been found, but he mailed it back to me in the US. Quality people turning out a quality product. Enjoy without any hesitation!

Thanks for all your input; I have also contacted the company and have been given some great information.  I am looking forward to this excursion mostly because of the great reviews it gets!!

  7. We will be doing our first cruise on the Summit in April; also out of San Juan and also have a busy port schedule (St. Thomas, St. Kitts, Antigua, St. Lucia and Barbados).  Since this is our first cruise, we are really looking forward to seeing the various ports. What your favorite port stop was? What deck / room did you stay in?

  8. We will be doing our 1st cruise in April and one of our stops is St. Lucia.  We are beach lovers and have most of our port stops planned, except this one.  We are seriously considering doing an excursion through Cosol Tours (I have read great things about this tour).  I am just a little hesitant because it is not through the cruise ship directly.  Has anyone had any problems with this tour in the sense of not being back in time or just barely making it back.  We are in port from 8 am to 5 pm that day.  This tour seems to have a full agenda.  :classic_smile:TIA

Just came off the same cruise!

This time my choice was traditional early dining and as a solo traveler I was seated with three other WONDERFUL couples. Except for one soup, one evening, everyone at our table thought the MDR food was excellent including the one couple that usually cruises with RCCL. Our main waiter, Melvin was quite possibly the best I've ever experienced in my 31 previous cruises. He made the evening dinner that much more enjoyable.

The production shows were okay, but as previously mentioned, the artists that were brought onboard along the way were truly outstanding.

The ship needs the upcoming dry dock but the crew members were constantly cleaning and polishing and my cabin (#2149) was just fine.

The real treat, I think, was how we generally lucked out with weather. Yes, it rained in Boston but from there on we had very acceptable weather with bright sunshine to partly sunny to overcast but with no rain, except mid evening in Quebec City the first day. Second day we had bright sun shine and 68 degrees, if I remember correctly. I know it stormed the day before we arrived in Bar Harbor but was sunny for us and no problems tendering. My private tour guide in Halifax also noted that it had rain continuously the two days before we arrived but was bright sunshine for us!

This is one itinerary where weather can be a real factor even though we have no control over it. The fall colors were magnificent in Newfoundland, especially for those of us who took the 3 mile hiking excursion, and colorful also in Quebec City.

All in all, a very enjoyable cruise with lots of very pleasant fellow passenger too and great ship crew.

PROCRUISE - can you give me any feedback about being on Deck 2.  We will also be on deck 2 in April and have asked for others' opinions on the forum just wondering about your experience.  Thanks!!

  10. I just want to say that I really appreciate this thread as I had the same question! We booked an OV guarantee on the Millennium that included Go Best for cheaper than an inside with no perks, and were assigned 2177. This will be our first cruise ever and I was really going back and forth as to whether we did the right thing. We probably won't hang out in the room too much other than to sleep and get dressed, but we like it dark and quiet when we sleep so I was also concerned about engine noise or noise from the demonstration kitchen above. Please let us know what you think after your cruise, since it will be before ours!

AuroraRose - this was our exact situation too when booking and figured booking almost 1 year in advance we hoped to get a better located room but I think after reading the reviews here we are going to keep our rooms and hope for the best. This is also our first cruise and learning alot through this forum. Best of luck to you and I will be sure to post a review upon our return. :)

  11. In 2137 we did have a small issue with the AC, it was really loud. Stateroom attendant banged on it a couple times and that seemed to have fixed it lol. Being in the engineering field, that’s what we professionals call a “manual calibration” haha

Other than that, never any discernible noise/vibration from the engines or ships equipment. We did notice that it was extremely steady down there when sailing. There was one day that my wife and I were in the room for a bit reading/napping. We barely noticed any movement of the ship. We got on the elevator to go up to the buffet and a woman on the elevator was comparing about how much the ship was moving. My wife and I exchanged bemused glances until we were actually up the buffet and you could definitely feel the ship moving.

Overall, I think you’ll be fine! We enjoyed the cabins on deck 2. Pricing was great too, so we’ll definitely sail in those cabins again!!

Thanks dadraftsman....we also got a great price in going with OV Guarantee....thanks for your input it's reassuring.

  12. I haven't stayed in this particular cabin, but I have stayed in 2188 (roughly same location on opposite side) and 2137 (same side, closer to mid-ship elevators). No major issues being on deck 2. It's great for when you're coming back on board after being in port, just walk up a flight of stairs to get back to your room. 2188 was a connecting cabin, I was impressed with how quiet it was with having a neighbor next door.

That really is comforting to hear!!! Did you have any issues with noise / roaring from engine or mechanism, etc?

We are not people that spend alot of time in our rooms, except to sleep and get ready and we are usually up and out of our rooms by 8 am. As for the connecting cabin, that won't be an issue for us because it is the other couple that we are travelling with that will be occupying the adjoining room. So all good there!!

Just trying to ease our worries about being on deck 2. Thanks again!!
