Just curious if anyone has ever booked a hotel at a higher price and then gotten the same hotel at a lower price through priceline. I booked the Sheraton OSJ through expedia for 2/17/10-2/21/10, just for the piece of mind of having a room booked. However, I'm planning on using priceline to try to get a better deal, and then cancel the Sheraton booking. Can I get a new booking at the Sheraton on priceline and then cancel the other reservation? Seems like they would have safeguards in place to prevent this.
Not opposed to staying anywhere else mind you. I booked the Sheraton at $229/night, so any other hotel at $120/night would more than make up for cab fare. But all else being equal I'd like to stay at the Sheraton.
Thanks!
Is your reservation on Expedia cancellable? If they are, then try Priceline.
The Sheraton OSJ is a 3.5* on Priceline.
Also, look at Hotwire - they don't tell you the hotel but you can usually figure it out.

I know everyone is trying to get the Sheridan and I am having no luck for Feb 7th. So I'm willing to lower my standards as long as I'm in OSJ. Can anyone tell me how I can be sure to get another hotel in OSJ and not next to the airport?
I think you are too early to get the Sheraton for February on Priceline. My experience is that the Sheraton did not release rooms for Priceline till a few months ahead of time. Hotwire may be a better alternative if you can figure out the hotel by the amenities listed.

We just won the Wyndham Rio Mar for three rooms for $96 per room plus $23 taxes. One night precruise, Jan 29.
We bid 3.5 stars for San Juan and rebid including Rio Grande and were upgraded to this resort. $96 was our first bid with Rio Grande so you may be able to get it lower. A little far out but doable with a rental car. -
Just booked Courtyard by Marriott for Feb 19th for $100 + $28.43 taxes and fees. I bid on resorts up to $150, 4* up to $130 and 3 1/2* up to $125 before getting this on first bid at $100. This is for a 1 nite pre cruise on the Galaxy.
Is the Courtyard by Marriott a 3 star or a 3.5 star?
thanks -
I got the Normandie hotel when I requested a category 4 or resort for a pre cruise on 1/23 and 1/24. I need to book another room post cruise on 2/1/09 and am very nervous about getting stuck with the Normandie again ( did not here any good reviews - anyone have any suggestions????
What price did you get the Normandie for? Thanks...

Hmmmm...guess I just need to increase my bids:rolleyes:
I got Sheraton San Juan for this past March for 120.00.....
Looks like the pricing for 2009 are going up...up...up....
(just like everything else:( )
Lois, I wouldn't give up yet. The Sheraton OSJ is a 3 star.
In Jan, we got the Sheraton for $100 plus taxes along with several others. I think there will be availability closer to the date.

So now Marriott Stellaris is offering $159 rate that includes breakfast for the days we're going to be there (May 4-6 '09). Personally, I think it's a great rate! The lowest bidded price I've seen is 135 for this property. And we want THIS property!
So does this mean that if the going rate is $159 that priceline would accept even lower bids than normal for that time and we could maybe get it for say, $99? Or should I just book that "sure deal" and call it a day?
Help...
If you are positive that you want the Marriott, than you should take the sure thing.
If you wouldn't mind another resort, I would try Priceline - you may get the Marriot at a cheaper price or you may get another resort.
We have been bidding resort for February, every week, up to $130 with no luck yet.

Bid for 2 rooms pre-cruise Thurs. Jan. 3, 2008
Bid resort San Juan $120.00 (rejected)
Bid 3 star San Juan $100.00 (accepted)
With taxes, fees & travel insurance $129.84 per room
Very happy with this bid! Thanks CC :D
Don & Donna,
That's the same bid I did yesterday. One disadvantage is the the Sheraton Old San Juan is on the other side of the water from the PanAm pier, which is where the Celebrity ships embark. All the other cruise lines embark from the Old San Juan pier, which is next to the Sheraton. But I love Old San Juan and that will be nice for dinner.

Priceline bid:
3 star, San Juan, 2 rooms, one night, Jan 24, 2008.
Winning bid was $100 per room for Sheraton, Old San Juan.
This price is close to the price for the Comfort Inn on the Condado. The Comfort Inn is closer to the Pan Am pier where Celbrity ships leave from. The Sheraton is in Old San Juan which will be nice for dinner and walking.
