  1. Hello,

G32 is variable. It depends what you are looking for, the cruise and who is onboard. I’ve been on one short cruise where one person was so drunk they were taken out in a wheelchair. However, that is not the normal Cunard experience and I’ve never experienced anything remotely similar since.

On my recent Transatlantic crossing, G32 tended to be much busier on the gala nights. I’ve just taken a look back through my photos and there were several taken post 5am (although I think they may have been UK time and not ship’s time!). But the party certainly went on until the small hours. Funnily enough that was the same evening that we experienced hurricane force winds. We were all over the dance floor and it wasn’t just the 10 hours odd of drinking! A Chris Frame video was taken on the same evening and is available on YouTube if anyone is interested.

The DJs are very receptive to requests, which I love!

One of the highlights was then being able to order a room service sandwich and fries. Certainly beats a kebab van......!

In respect of dress, G32 is a “casual” venue, however, most gents still wear their blazers/suits/dinner suits. I do sometimes change my shoes if I’m planning to hit the dance floor hard.

Have a great time and shout if you need more.

I heard back from Cunard on Twitter, They simply said: “More information will be available on this in the coming months, and we will be sure to update guests accordingly. Thank you for your understanding!”.

Just as an aside, I hope it does go ahead because I think it is a worthwhile investment. The spa is looking particularly tired and parts of the pool areas rusty with chipped and peeling paint. Parts of the Royal Court Theatre look like they have seen better days too.

  3. Hello all

I hope everyone is safe and well. Is the QM2 refurb still scheduled to go ahead later this year? I wasn’t sure if it had been delayed by the current health situation. I strongly suspect I have missed another thread on this, so very happy to be pointed in the right direction.

    Thanks very much.

Pre-Dinner drinks in your stateroomon on the penultimate night with your newly made friends is always nice.

LOL. Sounds great. Let’s hope I make friends quickly on the first night!

I will add myself to the roll call.

Let's back to the original request.

It is a much larger Stateroom with a bigger balcony (are you going to place a couple of Sun loungers with the weather at that time of year?).

A good choice if you need the extra space.

However, as prices are low, how about considering a Club Stateroom for the Dining experience?

Hello and thank you for your reply.

Perhaps not a sun lounger (!) but it’s great to have outdoor space, in particular, because our last cruise was in a relatively small inside cabin. I’m hoping that at least one of the three days might have weather which is cold, but is also bright and sunny. It’s also nice to make new friends and invite them over.

I’m inspired to get a photo of myself on a sunlounger in December now, amaretto hot chocolate in one hand and a package of Belgian treats in the other. Watch out for a post in December, along with the nutcrackers and gingerbread village......!

We had the club stateroom on a very similar trip in December 2018 (A2 - does that sound right?) and it was a great experience. We just decided against it on this trip because we could have the larger room and eat in the Verandah every night for less money. I love room service for breakfast and generally don’t eat lunch, favouring sandwiches and scones at 3:30pm!

Thanks to everyone for the room info too - sounds like a decent choice.

    Stay safe all.

Wouldn't go until there is a vaccine. You take a three day cruise and risk your life..

    Hello

Thank you. Presumably assuming I have not already have COVID (and I may well have done). Perhaps I should push to get antibody tested as soon as those tests become more widely available.

  7. Hello all

I hope everyone (and their families) is safe and well.

I’ve taken the plunge and booked a 3 day short break on QV in December 2020. I’m not sure if it was a sensible decision or not, but we had substantial discounts and carried over onboard credit to use. What I’ve booked wasn’t free, but it was (very) good value.

I was originally planning a Med 2021 cruise, but these seem limited and I’d prefer something shorter than 14 nights. It was also cheaper to book on the new Celebrity Apex, even after the Cunard discount.

My questions for this group are:

    • Is it too optimistic to think I can cruise in December 2020? Views seem to be mixed on the threads I’ve read so far. I wondered if this trip was lower risk given it is short and only to Belgium (and I appreciate Belgium has been materially impacted by COVID-19). Cunard’s fairly generous rebooking policy has given me some comfort.
    • Will social distancing measures dampen the festive fun? Maybe it is too soon to know.
    • Does anyone has any recent experience of room 4051 on QV. I’ve seen separate threads on this, but wanted to draw on the continued expertise and insight of this group. Is it worth the premium over the other Britannia class cabins?

Thanks very much all and stay safe!

  8. I’m pleased to say we are now off QM2 and on our way to KLIA. Immigration and other checks took longer than originally anticipated and it was clear on that our originally advised departure time of 9am was going to be missed. We should get to the airport within the next hour. There were a number of very upset people around the ship last night, notably at the pursuer’s desk. Hope they get home ok.

I'm afraid my reaction to this is the same as my reaction to the gingerbread villages which will no doubt be appearing shortly. Why? Or rather, why, why, why?😀

    Hello,
Do you mean why attend whilst onboard, why post on this forum or perhaps both?

  10. Thanks v much. I will probably get a few cans of flavoured tonic to take on as large bottles might be harder to store/could go flat. I just generally prefer the late/second dining slot and like a drink or two whilst I get ready!

  11. Hello,

I took five or six bottles on my QV cruise around the Norwegian Fjords in June. Cunard never said anything but one member of security staff did joke with me about how much fun I’d be having drinking on my balcony....! I didn’t have the heart to tell her I’d only booked an ocean view.....!

I’m travelling on QM2 next week and can you let you know. I have a decent amount of onboard credit so current plan is ‘just’ a couple of bottles of bubbles and 70CL gin.
Does Cunard sell tonic water onboard, or just Sprite/lemonade?

  12. Hello,

All of my previous bookings have used the Early Saver Fare and - eventually - I’ve always got my dining preference (although I much prefer second seating!). Out of four cruises, I’ve automatically being allocated my preference on three of them.

I’d suggest checking your allocation as soon as possible when you arrive in your stateroom and, if it’s not what you want, seeing the MD as soon as you can (as others have mentioned, there is usually a designated slot and it can be very busy).

    Have a great trip.

  13. Hello,

Thanks very much for your responses.

After a couple of tries, I spoke to someone helpful and sensible at Cunard. I appreciate they won’t refund the price change - I didn’t ask and it was not offered. I agree I had entered into a contract and the price was agreed at the outset. That was never in dispute. However, whilst I won’t go into the specifics we agreed a compromise we were both happy with. I feel I’ve got solid value for money and Cunard has a happy customer again.

    Safe travels everyone.

  14. .......if I told them that a cruise I have booked in the coming weeks is now on sale for less than I paid.

I appreciate Cunard won’t refund the difference, but is it possible to get an upgrade to what is now available at the same price? Or is it just hard luck? I appreciate this is always a risk when you book well in advance. It is not a large amount but never nice to pay more than you have to.

Any thoughts? Has this ever happened to you? If so, what did you do?

    Thank you!
