  1. I downloaded documents and baggage tags today. The bag tags look just like ones I have gotten in the past and would work totally fine if we were traveling with Ken and Barbie sized luggage. Has anyone else had miniature bag tags print recently?

Check your printer settings, in paper layout you want to set it to landscape as opposed to portrait.

  2. I am sure that I have read something about this on here already but doing searches comes up empty. I am leaving in 11 days out of NYC and I have been doing mock bookings to check for prices and availability out of curiosity. I tried to check today and the cruise doesn't even show up on NCL's website, like it doesn't exist. Have they deleted it because it sold out or is there another reason? I apologise and thank you for any insight.

  3. We who are boarding Breakaway on the 27th have talked extensively about the late arrival time that morning. We believe part of the reason may be that Gem has a scheduled return to NY at 8am and they may not want the arrival hall in use for 2 cruises at once. Disembark Gem, then Disembark Breakway. If they are on opposite sides of the same pier. If Gem is on the other pier, then it's less a concern, except that the port would be choked by arrivals and departures of two ships at the same time.. running out of cabs etc. Also the longshoremen, security and immigration crews are probably better utilized one ship at a time.

So I would expect you will be docking between 8 and 9 instead of the usual 6-7am. And disembarkation will be later, and maybe start 9 to 9:30ish as Gem gets done.

In any event, we can expect a very busy port that morning!

Gem shows as 28th along with Escape on the NYC cruise schedule https://www.nycruise.com/schedule/ . While NCL shows 27th, getting confusing.

  4. I understand you question as we board on the 28th for the repo and I am trying to figure out exactly how they are going to have all those folks leave AND board us in 6 hours. I know it is just 2 hours later than normal, but that seem like a BIG 2 hours.

I wonder that also and if your doing the repo ending up in NOLA you board on the 27th not 28th.

  5. Usually, ships doing weekly RT typically get back early but even for mega-ships, it's not uncommon for them to be still coming off the gangways at 10'o clock if CBP downstairs are backed up. I am not referring to coming off the ship at 10am, that's the time they show to come to dockside

BA is doing a T/A crossing and the port clearance & CBP inspection can take longer, even if it's ahead of scheduled arrival on that day by a 2 or 3 hours. 10am on the 27th is my return from 11 days to Eastern Caribbean, last stop Tortola. Trans Atlantic comes from Copenhagen and arrives 10/16 @8am, which is when I board for my cruise that returns NYC on the 27th @10am

You always have great advice mking8288 but your time frame is just a wee off on this one, my friend.

  6. I'm going to be on the Breakaway in 18 days and I believe I'm all ready to go. In looking through all my docs online I only just noticed that it shows an arrival time back in NYC at 10am on the 27th. Not being a veteran cruiser I was surprised because reading on all these boards it seemed that all the ships got back early morning and were emptied by 10 or 10:30. Could this be a typo or will I still be cruising when I wake up on disembarkation day.

  7. I really think the solution to the Spa problem is to break out spa balconies and spa mini-suites into their own separate categories (the way each of the Havens are their own category). If someone in a spa bids on a non-spa upgrade, give them a big, in-your-face, pop up warning them that they will lose their spa privileges. If they bid on a spa upgrade, then no warning necessary. And it would be nice for people in non-spa rooms to be able to bid up to the spa version of their same meta. So someone in a normal balcony could bid up to a spa balcony, even though it's technically still in the "balcony" meta.

I'm on Breakaway in 55 days and a few weeks ago my upgrade was approved from a Family Balcony, (B3), to a Spa Mini Suite, (M9), with a $150pp bid. When I got the message I could upgrade I was given a selection of staterooms starting at the top with the Owners Suite, down through all the Haven cabins and then Mini Suites. I chose Mini Suite and was awarded the Spa Mini. I was very happy with the award and didn't think about it until I did some mock bookings. At the choose cabin portion of the booking I entered Mini, but the Spa Mini wasn't there. When I backtracked and clicked Spa it gave me 3 choices, Haven Spa, Spa Mini and Spa Balcony. So when you book they are differentiating between Mini and Spa Mini but in the upgrade program they're not. I'm still confused, but not so confused that I would look a gift horse in the mouth!

  8. I would suggest staying with your original plan. Getting an extra night in NYC can be nice but if you come to The Hyatt in Jersey City for the last night you'll get something you can't get in New York! You'll get the spectacular view of the city skyline at night! Forrest for the trees and all that. Even on a Friday morning it's a lot easier ride to the cruise terminal in Bayonne from Jersey City and a lot less stressful!

  9. Why are you asking?

I was thinking that a cruise terminal is a major transportation hub and the TSA, as part of Homeland Security does have jurisdiction over airports, railroads, highways, mass transit systems, pipelines and ports. So I wondered if they did security. I am actually glad to hear that it's not handled by them, after many years of flying I have no real confidence in the TSA.
