  1. Just throwing this out there. The last 2 cruises I have been on I have taken my sons large mixing cup that I got from walmart. He loves milkshakes and I love iced coffees. I know there is coffee shops but we like making our own. They have cartons of chocolate and white milk on the buffet and an ice cream machine. We mix what ever flavor he wants for the shake and add the ice cream and grab a cookie and crumble it on top. For the coffee I take the hot coffee and pour it over ice and add a little vanilla ice cream to it and makes a really good iced coffee.
This is the best suggestion ever!!!

  2. Anyone old enough to remember when Evian first came out and people who drank it were made fun of? I tell my eco students that bottled water is the biggest scam the American public has fallen for. Whatever happened to drinking from the hose on a hot day? [emoji6]

  3. I agree. I'm not arguing that. My point was pretty simple and clear, however. If someone wants bottled water, pay up on NCL. All the excuses for why you can't bring it on or it's not free is ridiculous. It's because they want to sell you water.

I like the convenience of grabbing a bottle of water at a bar anywhere on the ship when I'm thirsty, that's for sure. But yes, the quality is probably no better than what the ship produces. In fact, my understanding is that the ship tap water is a VERY high quality water.

The process on a ship is pretty cool to see... I do a basic version of it with my students during lab.

  4. Ummm... if you WANT BOTTLED WATER then you are FORCED to buy their bottled water... Goodness was that difficult to understand?
Bottled water is just repackaged tap water. Why is it any different if it's treated on the ship or in a factory?

  5. Shorts are fine for all children in the main dining room. I had my 10 year old nephew with me in January because my sister and her husband had two other children in their four berth cabin. As a 10 year old he wore dress or more formal shorts but not play shorts. He wore a collared button up shirt and seemed to really enjoy wearing it and loved putting on a tie for formal nights. The main dining room had no problem with a child that age coming in like that.

Its an interesting fact that in very English upper class style trousers are for older boys and men and shorts are for boys. If you notice news and even look up news articles about Prince George he will almost always be in shorts. Royalty are aware of this trend and you can guarantee cruise lines are fully aware of it. I think by the time a boy is 12 or 13 years and reaches high school age and leaves primary school would be about the time to expect them in trousers these days.

I remember during Harry and Meghan's wedding they talked about how George was breaking tradition and wearing pants for the ceremony. I thought that 'rule' was the cutest thing!

  6. Thanks everyone! I planned for a day at Nachi Cocum in Cozumel and for some weird reason I thought I saw someone post a fun times from the same route, indicating a 2 pm tender with a 5 pm departure. Maybe I hallucinated it, but I wanted to make sure I scheduled my snorkeling to finish with enough time to get back to the boat.

  7. I wonder how many of these oils are manufactured in countries with few quality production standards. We've certainly imported plenty of asbestos laden wallboard, poisoned pet food, and clothing with unsafe chemicals added. Who knows what additives are put into these oils (or vape catridges)?

For a product that gets inhaled via my lungs and circulated through my blood stream, I would want a product guaranteed by a physicians' group before I would use it.

If you buy from a reputable company they will tell you where the oils came from and how they were extracted. The cheap ones in the drugstore are the ones that are harmful to inhale.

  8. I love this spreadsheet for figuring out if it's worth it.

I will do it again because:

    1) It's easy to budget for and pre-pay

    2) I don't feel wasteful if I don't like a drink or it gets watered down

    3) I feel more free to try different things.

    this. is. amazing.

  9. I'm trying to plan some excursions. If the itinerary states we're leaving a port at 5, what time is the latest to be on? I seem to remember seeing somewhere that even with a 5 pm departure, that the last tender for that port was at like 2. Did I see that correctly? Is it really 3 hours earlier than departure?

  10. Someone said no advantage to pre-paying. Someone asked about the gift cards I mentioned.

You can purchase gift cards for a 10% discount online. Originally I got mine through Verizon but they recently stopped. Now many people get them through AARP (you don't have to be a member). Last week Paypal ran a special through ebay where you could purchase a gift card at 15% off.

So pre-paying and using a gift card is a definite advantage to me!

It looks like they're not doing it anymore. I just went all over their site looking for it. :(:(:(:(
