The main advantage of doing a westbound crossing (Southampton to New York) over an eastbound crossing (New York to Southampton) is that you gain five hours going westbound compared to losing five hours going eastbound. So, a net difference of ten hours. 

Sorry Bluemarble, I don't get your math. Either you gain five hours or you loose them. Unless you do a round trip and then it is a wash.

Look now for airline prices.  I know you can book Delta 330 days out.

vBulletin not secure?  Who cares?  It's an open forum that anyone can read, you have to join to post.  This about the only forum I am on that doesn't use vBulletin.  Sorry, the format is lame and not intuitive.   And for the member that designs GUI's, maybe they should have hired you to handle the change.

If you are not getting OBC and other gifts then you need to look for a better TA.  We booked a TA crossing for Nov 2019, paid the posted fare and got the $12 drink package, included gratuity and about $1300 in OBC.  Most of this is easily searchable on the web.

If you don't like the menus or anything else then cruise with someone beside Cunard. As long as the boat is full they figure they must be doing okay.

We will be on the Sept. 15, 2019 crossing with the balcony drinks package. Am I right in assuming that the 8.95 drinks would be below our 9.00 dollar threshold or would the gratuity be counted in to put it above . I know we are over a year out and prices always go up, not down, so I hope these hold steady. By the way, I think the prices were quite reasonable for a cruise.

Wow, I can't believe the whining about drink prices. Folks I travel 100% with my job - Go to the bar at any Marriott, in any decent sized city and a cocktail will be $12 - $15 and beer will be $9 or $10 plus a tip when you settle up.

Thanks, IMHO Cubans tend to be over rated anyway plus the non-Cuban majors stepped up their game a few years back. Lots of quality non-Cubans out there. Starting out in Hamburg and I could pick up some there, but will probably just bring some from home and pick up a few on board.

Being from Texas you will find a little more flavor in a grass fed beef, however prime beef will generally come from grain finished.

Bananavan, you are correct. When I looked earlier the new promo had not been added to the web page yet, but it has been now. Glad we booked when we did as we got a significant OBC from our TA plus the cheaper fare.

Looking at the same class and deck that we booked recently (Q6) the price has increased $451 per passenger, the drinks package is only the $9 package instead of the $12 we received and the gratuity package is gone. US site.

These prices are obscene !!

 

Am about to undertake my first cruise on Q.V. this Friday. Will be very vigilant about any unexpected additional charges to my credit card post cruise. But if there is, then I will be contacting the police in relation to potential fraud.

Having read the post on P&O thread about the same issues it’s obvious that this is more than just the odd mistake.

Have you been to a major hotel lately? The prices are very tame compared to the outright thievery of the hotels.

Oh and BTW - don't waste the police's time or your breath.
