Has anyone found out how you got an invite on the Jan 30th sailing? I wonder if they plan to max out the ship or just have a select small group on the ship?
Cheryl
If memory serves me, they did the same thing when Navigator came out of dry dock last January. A two day cruise was given for travel industry professionals so Royal could show off the upgrades and hype their product. We were on the second full cruise of Navi after the upgrades and even then there were some minor things still being completed (but nothing that caused any major problems with the enjoyment of our cruise).

Lots of topics springing up about robes....
Are these robes special? Made of spider silk? I've never even touched the robes in my room but after all these threads I am putting robe on my next cruise to give it a whirl
Of course they are special, some people say even magical. You can put one on and suddenly you have a "special" aura about you. You can walk into any dining venue wearing nothing but the robe and you will suddenly see how everyone else is staring at you with envy.
Have fun, wear it on formal night and go to each and every photo station on board. The "oohs" and "ahhs" from the masses will bolster your ego.
Just remember, wearing the robe is a sacred honor...use it wisely.

Been on Navi 3 times since her refurbish. We love it. Haven't tried the Virtual Balconies, though. But here's my 2 cents: Try Sabor. The food is delicious. I had the duck breast burritos...wow. Also, try Izumi...it's a great choice for lunch.
Our nightly hang out was either Boleros or R Bar. The Silent Party is a blast up in the Cosmopolitan Club. Everyone wears a set of wireless headphones with the dance music playing. If you want to have quiet conversations with your friends, just take off the headphones. Oh, and the headphones have 2 channels with 2 different songs playing...it's fun to watch people dancing to different songs at the same time!
Have fun!

We agree with the post holiday January - February time frame. We have had the best weather in the Caribbean during those months. But, as others have said, the weather traveling to the port of departure can sometimes be a challenge!

We sail on Navigator next Sunday, so we will be following your posts. Please take care of her for us!

Probably one of ten thousand glitches that occur almost daily on RC website. Not to long ago the total cost of my inside cabin on Serenade for January showed over $34,000.00!

If the weather is good and she wants to be outside, Deck 12 is also good and easily accessible. She could quickly maneuver from port to starboard from the area by the Sky Bar plus, if so desired, Sky Bar is open during sail away.
The Viking Crown also allows great views, as clarea stated, plus it is inside with easy access to the elevators and restroom facilities.
Deck 4 has the deck that goes all the way around the ship, although there are stairs in the front. But you can get from port to starboard side quickly through the large sliding doors. Views are limited, though.

Wow. All I can say is that this was one of the most comprehensive and informational reviews I have ever read. We have sailed Navi twice this year with our third happening in just 2 weeks. Reading this has just brought my anticipation level way up! Thank you.

Haven't seen a thread for this yet, but apologies if I've missed it.
I'm one of the early birds, but I wouldn't say it bothers me that there's last minute deals. They simply don't affect me, nothing I can do. I see it as a way to fill the ship, make onboard revenue that in turn subsidizes my rates in a way. Less onboard revenue = higher fares in the beginning IMO.
Hey, Tyler! We sailed together not that long ago and did the Cozumel Bar Hop with you! I still have the keychain you gave me! We are early bookers as well. We are also of the same opinion. I understand that the cruise lines want to fill the ships up by offering deep discounts at the last minute. Why have an empty cabin which generates zero revenue when you can get someone in the cabin at a reduced rate and have them still generate revenue from drink sales, on board shopping, etc. I don't believe that I am necessarily due the same price. I knew how much I was spending when I booked originally.
Conversely, I don't want the cruise line charging me more if the rate of my category cabin goes up. Fair is fair when it comes to fare.

Little Black Dress Merlot for evenings...and a Chardonnay for afternoons sitting on the balcony...aaahhhhhh:D

We have had our Jan. 2016 Princess Panama Canal trip booked for about 4 months. Much prefer Princess smaller ships forPanama than the huge ships of RC.
The Royal Caribbean ships that sail the Panama Canal are pretty much the same size as the Princess ships that do it. In fact, in tonnage, the Royal ships are slightly smaller.
My DW spent much of her teen years as an Army Brat in the Panama Canal Zone. For her 50th birthday around February of 2016 she wants to sail through the canal. Waiting patiently for Royal to open this schedule up. We figured it would be in March or April, 2015. Could do it on another line, but we will have just made Diamond with Royal and would hate to not have the benefits for a cruise of this length.

What is a must see on this ship?
Must do?
Must eat?
Must see: Ice Show; on a clear night, go to the Helipad for incredible star watching; The Quest (hilarious)
Must do: FlowRider; Silent Disco; evenings in Boleros (at least, that's for us!)
Must eat: Izumi; Sabor; Chops

Aha! I hadn't thought of that. Bob always has the answer!! It'll be some days of training for the crew, I am sure!

Plus, living in Florida, the last minute Resident Sales can be incredible.

Wow. Great photos.

I've heard you have to make reservations for shows. Is that true or only on bigger ships?
Not on Navigator. For sure on Oasis and Allure.

I love that you call her Navi too! She isn't leaving Galveston til 2016 right?

She leaves Galveston in November 2015 to be replaced by Liberty of the Seas.

Found some reviews about it elsewhere and it seems that Carnival is blocking it somehow and it does not work on Carnival ships. Hmm.
And here is a link to another thread about it: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2083447

Okay, I'll be following this one. Had never heard of this, but am VERY interested.

Here is a link to a "sample menu" from Royal Caribbean's website.

We have been on Navi twice since the upgrades and are on her again in 45 days! Izumi is great for lunch...prices are a la carte during that time. Loved watching the FlowRider...but not enough nerve to try it! We love this ship and we will be sad to see her leave Galveston.

So nothing "major". Painting? Maybe carpet change? General maintenance type stuff.
Thanks
Are you asking about a specific ship?
Navigator was in last January for only a few weeks and got new cabins, new dining venues, a flowrider and many other upgrades. They can do quite a lot in a short time!

Cool, that sounds good. Anyone else got them at the meet and mingle?
Never got a "lanyard" per se. At all of the last 5 or 6 M&M's we have attended we were given the "Memo Pad on a String" as we call them. It is a small notebook with a small pen that is attached via a plastic loop. It also has a clear plastic pocket on it that will hold your seapass or other card. We've gotten so many of them that we now just leave them in our cabin upon departing. Maybe the OP was in one of our stateroom's after us! :D
The only pins we actually received were our "Gold" pins, which they don't even have anymore I don't think. Our Platinum and Emerald pins we had to see the Loyalty Ambassador on board to get.

Well, I don't know the true, complete answer, but I do know that the clear floor with all those treasures under it was very hard to keep clean and it was getting very clouded from age.

We're with Bob...January into February. Right after the holidays it's so relaxing to get away from the cold weather and all the stress. And there are, usually, some good prices out there.
For example, we are sailing on Serenade out of NOLA on Jan 10th...total cost for an inside room for my wife and I was less than $1000, gratuities included.

Robes in Cabin
in Royal Caribbean International
Posted
I can only assume...the actual properties of a "Royal Robe" are a closely guarded secret. I have heard rumors they are spun from elvish threads found only in a mystical land called "Bangladesh."
