  1. I would recommend that you read the post directly above yours (from "floatplan") which quotes the CDC regarding "what is going on." It is factual and objective as opposed to any anecdotal reports and potential hysteria you might encounter on these boards. Please, read the posts.

I am sure you will have a wonderful cruise. I am not sure what it means, exactly, when you say "won't be good if they don't keep us updated and keep us comfortable." You might want to explain this ultimatum.

I posted that as a general reference. No one likes to sit around for hours with no answers and not knowing what is going on. I had read a post where someone who was on one of the previous sailings waited for 3 hours till boarding. I had read the CDC report and was somewhat worried but than I have to keep thinking that this is a small percentage and they are doing what they are told. After reading the comment from a past Crystal passenger that they handle things a lot different. Starting with fee medical and checking on the patient several times. I only hope that is what Oceania would think is good PR also.

  2. As I have heard pro's and con's as far as O's notifying on upcoming passengers for the 22nd sailing. As we are one of those and my husband has mobility problems won't be good if they don't keep us updated and keep us comfortable. Anyone suggest the best way to get info on what is going on since O isn't willing to share. I will try calling O on Monday but don't hold out a lot of hope that they will tell us much other than everything is fine.

  3. I found the following on the Port of Miami website, but cannot seem to find a schedule. You can call.

TO ANSWER YOUR OTHER QUESTION, NO, YOUR GUEST CANNOT BOARD THE SHIP. :( Sorry for the caps. :o

What pier will my cruise ship dock at or embark from in San Juan?

In general, arriving transit ships that are day-docking for one afternoon/ evening in San Juan usually dock at the Old San Juan Piers (Muelle 1, 3, 4, 6), so you can walk right out into Old San Juan and avoid taking a taxi. We believe an exception to this rule to be Celebrity Cruises which typically day-dock at the Pan American Pier. Cruises that start in San Juan (home departure port) usually leave from the Pan American Pier Terminals I or II. However, Carnival cruises embark from the Old San Juan Pier 4 terminal if San Juan is the home departure port. Again, be sure to contact your cruise line or call the San Juan Cruise Port at 787-723-2260 to verify the arrival or departure pier location.

Thanks for the feed back I did find the san juan port number and did past that on to her for her to call. Will still have to find out a point to meet? Perhaps when she calls the port # and she will come up with that info. That is what I thought as far as bringing a guest on board. Security is a big thing now. And with all the virus problem I agree to that policy also. I saw where someone wanted to bring flowers back from a farmers market on a sailing and would think that would not be a good idea either.

  4. We are to meet a friend whom we have not seen for years when we dock in PR at the end of the month. Just got and email and she was asking where we are docking as they have new areas and have moved things around. Would there be directions to a Oceania Riviera or is there a recommendation where one might meet up? Also years ago she was able to come aboard the ship and I assume there are restriction now that that might not be permitted anymore know about that. Would that be correct?

  5. Rather than giving the cruise names, which are all over the map, could you please tell us what ports your specifically wanting info. The distance can vairy widly for 100 yards to 1/2 to 3/4 mile just to the entrance to the port let alone the towns.

Bahamas, St. Barts, Antigua, St. Lucia, St. Maarten. Was trying to decide if we can just walk around these ports or not?

  6. I would love to find out from anyone whom has done this voyage that when docking in the ports of call how far is the town and are they with in walking distance? Are there towns that are easier to walk than others. My husband had double knee surgery and walking is somewhat of a problem.

  7. As a first timer finding this good info. I have done the false booking and found out there are a large number of cabins available. Do they ever try to move you up ever with out asking sometimes? Now we are in a B-3 so where would I first start for an upgrade should I go to my TA or call direct to Oceania or wait to that day when checking in? If waiting to the final day whom should I ask than? Thanks for the help.

  8. Plan on taking clorax wipes and wiping my cabin down when I get on board. This is nothing new as a couple of years ago held my breath to see if they were going to let us board in Copenhagen. Does anyone know how many confirmed cases this last sailing had. I can't believe they were doing a more though cleaning?????

  9. As you can see I have been on CC for almost 10 years and have done many cruises but just not with Oceania and I have never used ship tours. I usually book private or with ship mates. Just looking at this cruise to be very relaxing but want to know what my options are. I am thinking that I probably can wait as the tours I was looking at are pretty basic tours. If there are any tips for Oceania would also love to hear about them.

  10. I tried to book there air though my TA now they already had the air built in but wanted in addition to add on per ticket $99 for gateway city, $175 air deviation (wanting to go in a couple days early because we leave in a snow belt) than I wanted a airline and times which was going to be another $500. At that point it I had had it and we booked our own and took the credit. Can't believe they don't want to work with the own people whom are sailing with them. To add it up it's total was $1124.

Does anyone know if we book the ships excursions online and than want to cancel/ and or change is there a penalty. Or can we wait till on the ship to book?

  11. Any real difference between the two properties. (Inter Continental or Marriott)We are going on a cruise in February but are finding that the fee is high for both. Which one would you pick and any luck in late check out?

  12. I will be doing the same. Will be pricing out whatever ends being the best deal. As we all know the travel industry is not what it us to be. My TA will be working for me and taking care of my needs. I wish that it wasn't like pulling teeth and all could work together better. I just felt that what they are asking is a bit unfair.

  13. Booked a B-3 cabin and now down to the air. Well we are a non gateway city so $200 add on and than because it is winter want to go in a day early guess what now we have a deviation price added $175 okay it gets better now Oceania told my TA they want another $500. How much can they charge for a FREE AIR FARE. At this rate they are getting $1225 for a consolidated ticket. Did I miss the small print?????

  14. Thanks fuelscience

I had a hard time deciding. But there were a few things that made my decision. The route was the most important, yes and second was the new ship. Also read an article in the USA today about how people are choosing the all inclusive as the way to go. Now I know that this line is almost all Aussies and Brits which is fine with me. The only thing that made it so hard was that everyone has a certain company they like to sail with. I have had someone who did this route a few years ago and thought they Scenic was extremely good. But I still can't forget the flood of a couple of years ago when Scenic was anything but great in the PR department. They let a lot of people travel thousands of miles to get bus from one location to another for the Danube and not cancelling so the travelers could get decide to get a refund or make the trip. They just let them come so they would not loss the revenue. I to am very excited and will turn to all our good friend in the next coming months to help with questions and help.

  15. Doreman,

I get it now that you are doing the 8 day cruise and not the add on. Have a wonderful time. Keep us updated on your weather and travels. Happy travels. Having been in Prague before can't wait to get back. Would love to get to Karlovy vary again. It is a area I loved.

  16. Not understanding why people are using private transfers. Isn't it include in our price. I have been on ocean cruises but you pay for the transfer. In that case I have hired private transfer (London to South Hampton). Also the train connection from Prague to Nuremberg would not be that great and you would have to carry your own luggage. Why???
